According to Gillian Anderson, one-half of the Scully/Mulder combo that have become part of your paranoid sci-fi lives in the last 20 years or so, a third “X-Files” movie may or may not be coming to you in 2012. Or at least, she “hopes” it will. Which basically means, she has no idea, she just hopes it’ll happen.

Gillian Anderson Gives (Probably Unwarranted) Hope for an X-Files 3
David Duchovny Keen on Another X-Files Movie
Despite poor box office and generally “meh” critical reviews and mostly indifferent moviegoer word of mouth, David Duchovny insists there is still an audience for another “X-Files” movie. The audience is out there, if you will. Ahem.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Duchovny breaks down his current thought process on another potential “X-Files” movie:
Gillian Anderson Says X-Files 3 is Coming in 2012. Maybe.
Take this news with a grain of salt, all you “X-Files” fans out there, but according to Gillian Anderson (Scully herself), a sequel to last year’s poorly received (not to mentioned poorly titled) “X-Files: I Want to Believe” is being scheduled for a 2012 release. Possibly.
Do You Still Believe? X-Files 3 May go Straight to DVD
Really? The Powers That Be are actually considering a third installment in the “X-Files” franchise, despite the beating the second film took at the box office? Apparently so. Or at least, according to some guy who knows some guy, who wrote in to Dread Central telling them about it. As DC states, I think this is just wishful thinking, especially considering how awful “X-Files 2: I Want to Believe” did. Seriously, really? A sequel to a sequel that no one wanted in the first place, and those who got it didn’t even liked it? Wow.
