Wow, isn’t this ironic? Chris Carter and the “X-Files 2″ guys have been working overtime trying to fool and mislead movie sites about the plot of their movie, going so far as to hide the title until two days ago, and what happens? The entire plot of the movie is revealed via the back cover of the upcoming “X-Files 2″ book novelization! See, Chris? This is what you get when you try to be too clever by a half, my son. To be honest with you, I don’t know why they’re keeping the plot under such wraps. What, Ma and Pa Joblo is supposed to walk into the theater without knowing anything about the plot? That’s asking for a box office disappointment right there.
Chris Carter has finally decided to stop playing coy with “The X-Files 2″ and has revealed the sequel’s title: “X-Files 2: I Want to Believe”. Yes, that’s the actual title. It’s not April Fools day or anything, although I wish it were. Seriously, “I Want to Believe”? You’ve got to be kidding me, Chris Carter. According to The Associated Press, “Distributor 20th Century Fox signed off on the title Wednesday,” and Carter officially revealed it to the AP.
As it turns out, that teaser poster we posted a few days ago really was the official “X-Files 2″ teaser poster. Go figure. Chris Carter and the gang at “X-Files” has been on such a whirlwind tour of misinformation, releasing faux “leaked” pictures and what have you, that it’s impossible to know what’s real and what’s propaganda anymore. Frankly, I don’t think it helps the movie at all; seriously, guys, you’ve been out of the game for what, a decade now? And you come back and play hard to get? Eh. The poster again, below, just in case you missed it the first time around.
“X-Files 2″ director Chris Carter was at the Paleyfest in Hollywood last night, where he showed off this second trailer for “The X-Files 2″, which is set to premiere along with “Iron Man” when it opens May 2nd, 2008. But hey, why wait that long? We have the bootleg trailer below. You see more of an interaction between Mulder and Scully (he goes to her for help, to join him on the hunt for whatever it is they’re hunting), saying, “I need you on this with me,” to which she replies, “That’s what scares me.” It does kinda look like they went on with their lives just fine after the series finale, and is only now coming back together.
I don’t really know why Chris Carter and FOX have yet to announce the title of their belated sequel to “The X-Files”. Seriously, what is the hold up? In any case, Chris Carter once again reaffirmed some already known details about the upcoming movie, mainly that it will not involve the show’s extensive alien mythology, and will in fact be a standalone movie that focuses on Mulder and Scully’s relationship and, oh yeah, Scully’s freaky son William will be mentioned, though he probably won’t show up.
I don’t really consider this a SPOILER, since the last time we saw Mulder and Scully on the small screen, they were cuddling up on a motel bed. I mean, seriously, guys, where else could they go after that? Kissing in the upcoming “X-Files 2″ movie? Yup, you bet. Here are some pictures from the set of the two stars filming a scene, where it looks like Mulder is saying goodbye to Scully, gives her a hug, and then plants a bit wet one. Check it out below.
The Los Angeles Times recently had a reporter at WonderCon last week to cover the “X-Files 2″ panel, and the result was this article, titled: “Fan-ana Republic: The resurrection of ‘X-Files’ mania”. Now I don’t know if “‘X-Files’ mania” is back or not, but I do know that a lot of people who were fans of the show and sort of gave up on it after a while (such as myself) are, in fact, quite excited about the sequel. To be honest with you, I didn’t thin I would be, but as it turns out — yeah, I do miss Scully and Mulder.
Chris Carter and the X-Files crew were over at Wonder Con over the weekend, and they brought with them a trailer for the upcoming “X-Files 2″. Someone was also there and had a camera phone handy, and took this video of the trailer. Check it out below!
Late last month, some pictures from the set of “The X-Files 2″ surfaced online that would have us believed the sequel would tackle werewolves (here). Not long after, the concept of werewolves in “X-Files 2″ seemed to have been shot down by the filmmakers themselves. But were they lying? Check out the image below and judge for yourself.
It was recently revealed by writer/director Chris Carter that the upcoming “X-Files” movie sequel will be a standalone story, and will not delve into the alien mythology that has been so much a part of the show’s run. So what could the central storyline be in “X-Files 2″ if it’s not aliens? Um, maybe the wolfman?
