Check out the full trailer for the upcoming “Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie” via Empire. Warhammer 40k is set in the titular year some time hence, where humanity has conquered the stars. It’s not your average space adventure though – this is the kind of future that would have had Gene Roddenberry crying for his mother. 40k features a darkly gothic sci-fi universe populated with technologically advanced versions of classic fantasy races such as the orks and the Eldar (elves). Starring the voices of Terence Stamp, Sean Pertwee and Steven Waddington. The movie will be available as a Special Edition Collector’s Edition for a limited period only exclusively from the official website. Pre-orders start today, for a worldwide release on November 29, 2010.

“Ultramarines”, coming sometime this year, could be a blood buzzing good time. It’s based on the Warhammer 40K universe which is essentially a future where war is religion with a modern roman twist. It’s pretty fun stuff. John Hurt narrates this teaser trailer in his typically epic fashion. Looks like we’ll also have Terrance Stamp and Sean Pertwee lending their great and glorious voices to the tale as well. Thanks Quiet Earth for the tip.

Some of you may have heard of or even play the role playing games based on the Warhammer 40k universe. 40K is kind of like the Alien 2 marines but on steroids and with religion. In Warhammer, war is religion and I’m thinking that will make some fine source material for an excellent Sci-Fi movie. 40K is a long established IP, with a rich history of novels and video games. Dan Abnett happens to be the man (over a million 40K books and graphic novels sold) tasked with writing the script for the movie based on the world of Warhammer. Here’s a nice video of Dan talking about the process of getting the movie started. Keep an eye on this one. Not only is 40k incredibly violent and everything a good war movie should be, it’s also very funny.

We get a variety of Sci-Fi news surfers here at SciFiCool from all over the place (Hello Iran) and we are greatful to all the fits and forms of those of you with interests in all that is FI. Some of you may not have heard about Warhammer and it’s insanity. A Warhammer 40K movie is on the way, click away to see why I am so excited. Codex Pictures has announced UltraMarines, set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Warhammer 40k is a role playing game that has been around for a number of years and features completely over the top and often very humorous, ridiculously violent action. I’ll chuck some pictures in here for you to help you get the gist. The idea here in Warhammer is basically Tolkien’s world of Elves, Orcs, Humans and other techno beasties, all grown up in the far future and at war with really big guns. In Warhammer 40k, war is religion. Good [...]
