You can always count on “South Park” to poke a little fun at the latest would-be Hollywood blockbuster. They’ve already parodied “2012″, “Avatar”, and pretty much every big movie out there. On last night’s “South Park”, they took on “Tron”, though admittedly they didn’t really slam on the franchise.
The thing about Hollywood is, they’re always talking up sequels (or since the coming of the “Lord of the Rings” and “Matrix” movies, trilogies) before a movie is released. When it comes to genre movies, the talk gets revved up pretty high, and honesty, you really can’t take it with any seriousness because until the film’s box office numbers come in, it’s all talk.
The good blokes over at Disney have released four new images from the set of Joseph Kosinski’s “Tron: Legacy”, showing castmembers like Olivia Wilde and other fellas in their black pleather best. Check them out below.
It’s big, it huge, it’s a full screen light cycle battle billboard from this Decembers “TRON: Legacy”. Is it just me or would everything you own look better with pale blue neon piping?
The new TRON stars Jeff Bridges, Michael Sheen and Olivia Wilde. Will Olivia have pale blue piping? Probably overkill. Thanks Collider.
Okay, so it’s a pretty shitty bootleg version that someone put up on YouTube. The official high-def version will be making its way online tomorrow, March 8, after which we will swap it, but until then, try to make out the “Tron” stuff from the darkness. Hey, it’s not pretty, but it’s better than nothing, right? Glad to see Bruce Boxleitner back in action on the big screen. Or at least, I think that’s Bruce. Kinda hard to tell, but the voice sounds like him… Update: The non-bootleg version has now been added.
With their “Tron” sequel due out sometime in December of this year, Disney isn’t quite sitting on their laurels waiting for the money to roll in on neon lightcycles. The studio is already developing an animated series to be based on the franchise, as well as a new “Avengers” animated TV series that will make use of their recently acquired Marvel Universe catalog.
There’s a new TRON: Legacy shot out today, continuing the irritating trickle of media from what will probably be the “Avatar” of this year. In this shot we see what mysteries may lie beneath the dust covers on curious old school arcade machines.
The boys at LatinoReview has a description of the full “Tron: Legacy” trailer that was recently screened to a select group of lucky individuals who participated in that whole Tron viral scavenger whatchamaccallit. Anyways, head over to LR to read the full account, but here’s the gist of the trailer:
There is apparently some viral stuff going on for “Tron 2″, but honestly, I just don’t care to run around looking for clues. I suppose if you really, really love the idea of chasing around the Internet for scraps of info it could be fun. Or you could just sit there and wait until the goodies are found and released, which is what I do. Here’s the latest, a new pic from “Tron: Legacy” via CBM.
Olivia Wilde, seen every week being smart and delicious on House is a Sci-Fi babe in waiting. She is about to appear in skintight future fashion in Decembers “TRON: Legacy” also starring Jeff Bridges. We are not sure what part Olivia will play in the goings on within that silicon world but I can guarantee you she’ll be good and yes of course, hot. Here’s a few of Olivia’s latest snaps from Elle Magazine.
“TRON: Legacy” is still quite a ways away and so who can blame the studio types from slow roasting the outward publicity for “TRON: Legacy” starring Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen? We’ve got what appears to be a real photograph of Jeff Bridges here playing the older version of his Flynn character (both older and younger appear, thanks to Ben Button style tech). He’s got something on his back that I will speculate is one of those cool circle light weapon things seen in the first movie.
“Tron 2″ director Joseph Kosinski took time out from putting the finishing touches on the visual effects for the sure-to-be effects heavy sequel to talk to the blokes over at MTV, and brought along a fresh look at the yellow lightcycle from the movie to boot. That pic below. According to Kosinki, the 3D aspect will only take place in the Tron world. Yah! More comfortable glasses to wear for two hours!
You mostly know Olivia Wilde from her weekly duels with Gregory House on “House”. Soon you’ll get to know her in that very special Sci-Fi way as she dons a skin tight light suit for the Xmas release of “TRON: Legacy” with Jeff Bridges. Scifiwire quizzed Olivia on some inner TRON bits and while she didn’t reveal any goods, she was quite a tease:
“Tron: Legacy” is still a ways away yet but you know that time can fly. It’s also relative. Of course, the more excited you are for something to happen, the slower time will pass. This is a tried and tested position of mine based on many years of wanton geek and exuberant nerdhood, awaiting the opening or release of “Empire Strikes Back”, “Avatar” or Santa.
