Michael Bay Says Transformers 4 to be Cheaper, Newer, and More Outer Spacier
Nix June 22, 2012Remember when Michael Bay said he wouldn’t direct a fourth entry in the “Transformers” franchise? Turns out, he spoke too soon. He is, in fact, directing “Transformers 4″, and while at the “Transformers” 3D ride at Universal Studios (cause where else would you catch Michael Bay? It makes perfect sense), the director took time out from the fun and games to give us the 411 on “Transformers 4″. (Kids still say 411, right?) So, Michael, what can we expect from “Transformers 4″? It’s a new cast. We’ve moving on to something different… It’s not a reboot, that’s maybe the wrong word. I don’t want to say reboot because then people will think we’re doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning. We’re not. We’re taking the story that you’ve seen — the story we’ve told in three movies already — and we’re taking it in a new direction. But we’re leaving those three as the history. It all still counts…. A Michael Bay-Directed Transformers 4 is Officially Coming to You in 2014
Nix February 14, 2012Wow, didn’t see this coming. Right? Oh wait, yes I did. After all, part 3 only made a gazillion dollars (give or take a few bazillion) at the box office. That kind of money gets Hollywood excited, and when Hollywood gets excited, sequels happen. Here’s the official word from Paramount: FIRST UP FOR THE PROLIFIC FILMMAKER IS “PAIN AND GAIN” STARRING MARK WAHLBERG AND DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON, FOLLOWED BY A NEW INSTALLMENT IN THE HUGELY POPULAR “TRANSFORMERS ” FRANCHISE, TO BE RELEASED ON JUNE 29TH, 2014 HOLLYWOOD, CA (February 13, 2012) – Paramount Pictures announced today that director Michael Bay has signed a two-picture deal with the studio, which will commence this spring with the filming of “Pain and Gain,” and will be followed by the next installment in the hit “Transformers” franchise. Based on a true story, “Pain and Gain” follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida. First… Continue Reading »
Michael Bay Back for Transformers 4
Nix December 6, 2011He won’t direct. He might direct. No, he won’t. Yes, he will. That’s according to Vulture, anyway, who says Bay is currently in talks with Paramount to direct the fourth “Transformers” movie, making him the franchise’s only director since its inception in 2007. So why is Bay directing after saying he won’t be back? Apparently he’s returning because Paramount will then fund a true-life movie called “Pain and Gain” that he has wanted to direct since 1999. That film is about some gym rats in Miami committing some crime, so definitely not something that Bay could sell to studios as a “Bay film”, though you wonder why not, since Bay has made a ton of hits and you’d think he could get anything made. Not so much, as it turns out. The idea is for Bay to make his “Pain and Gain” movie in early 2012, then jump onto “Transformers 4″ later in the year. That’s the idea, anyway.
Is Jason Statham Taking Over the Transformers Franchise?
Nix July 6, 2011Well, Shia LaBeouf isn’t coming back, so someone’s gonna have to, right? Plus, when “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” made $400 million in one week, you gotta figure Paramount is already moving on a sequel, with or without Michael Bay directing. So the question is: who will replace LaBeouf as the new savior of humankind versus the invading alien robots? According to Showbiz Spy, it could be Jason Statham. “One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Statham,” says a Hollywood insider. “It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction. Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be an added bonus in marketing the movie.” A “darker” Transformers movie? Don’t know about that. I can’t see you making a movie about invading alien robots from outer space that can turn into cars any “darker” than… Continue Reading »
