A couple of “Transformers 3″ news for ya today, plus one exclusive clip from the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” DVD release. After a lot of back and forth, Michael Bay has announced that “Transformers 3″ will be going into production soon for a July 2011 release, and that yes, Megan Fox will indeed be back.
Bay wrote this on his official message board:
Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.
Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.
P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal [...]

But of course Michael Bay is already talking about “Transformers 3″. Why wouldn’t he? Despite persistent charges of racism, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is closing in on $400 million worldwide grosses in just one week of release. This thing is a behemoth, folks, and I don’t think anyone is more surprised by the film’s wild success than the studios behind the movie. Recently, Michael Bay hinted at what to expect from a TF3.
The LATimes currently has an article spotlighting actor Ramon Rodriguez, who plays Leo Spitz in TF2, Sam Witwicky’s paranoid, alien conspiracy theorist college roommate who realizes — yikes — he was right all along. In the article, the LAT quotes Bay talking about Rodriguez, and what’s in store for his character in TF3:
Director Michael Bay has a third “Transformers” film in mind, and if it plays out as he expects, the next installment would have a more substantial role for Rodriguez. The filmmaker, speaking at his office [...]

The suits and bean counters at Paramount must be robot-gasming right now, because word via DHD is that Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is headed towards a $170-$180 million dollar 5-day weekend if their inside tracking is on the mark. The sci-fi actioner’s box office will certainly be helped by its massive Wednesday take of $60-plus million, shattering the previous record holder of $42 million held by “Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix” in 2007.
The great numbers are despite widespread accusations that the film has racist overtones, thanks to two jive-talking twin Autobots that provide the film with much of its comedic relief. As is the case with the media nowadays, as soon as someone mentions “racism”, everyone jumps in on it, because obviously there’s nothing the media loves more than a good old fashion “he’s a racist!” story, all the more to prove just how unracist they are.
From what I’ve read, the two robots [...]

It’s been two years since the robots that were more than meets the eye made their live action debut. Despite the 720 day lapse, there’s no creaking in the joints of the Autobots or Decepticons; rust is amazingly absent from both the Transformers and the film series. What we’re given is a nifty, fantastically loud and thrilling popcorn film—one that would make Optimus Prime himself beam with Allspark pride.
Time has come for Sam to depart for college, and while he tries to reconcile his long distance relationship, an unwelcome development occurs when a shard from the Cybertron cube. It fuses Sam with the clues to a secret source of Energon, as well as a deceased group of Primes, whom Optimus is an ancestor. Of course, this peaks the Decepticon’s interest, and Megatron is resurrected and rises from the depths to destroy a nuclear sub. But we learn he’s only mere apprentice to one known as The Fallen. A Prime who [...]

Here’s something about “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” that you may have already guessed from the trailers: when you give Michael Bay $200 million dollars and tell him to go make a movie, Bay makes a movie that costs $200 million, and every cent of it can be seen on the big screen. As such, you really can’t fault “Fallen” for being what it is, and what it is is two and a half hours of things blowing up real good, giant CGI robots beating the living crap out of each other, and the occasional chuckle or two to carry you through the non-stuff blowing up/robot fighting moments. Most of that comes in the middle section, when the writers have to get that whole “plot” thing out of the way before commencing once again with the metal beatdown.
“Revenge of the Fallen” takes place a couple of years after the first movie, with Optimus Prime and his Autobots now working covertly [...]

As fans of Sci-Fi and Shia LaBeouf may know, Shia got himself into a pretty bad little accident off set during the filming of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. In a car accident, Shia smushed his left hand and has had multiple surgeries to weave the thing back together. So how does an action movie with a ton of running around and jumping happen when the star of the film and primary runner and jumper can’t use his hand?
Shutting down a film for any length of time costs a ton of money so after Shia’s stunt guy faked as much of Shia as was possible, Michael Bay ordered a state of the art cast that included Kevlar finger protectors. The injury was added to the script as a “teleportation injury”. Happens to me almost every day.
“The problem was if he were to jam his fingers he could lose his fingers forever,” Bay was heard to say.
Shia sucked it up for [...]

It won’t be long now before the robots in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen invade our town and cities, blasting away at our fragile, fragile infrastructure. Shia and Megan will scream and run, neon coloured sports cars and 18 wheelers will do epic battle with gun metal and grey brushed steel evil robots in disguise. I would imagine no one needs more hype of this movie to really decide to go see it. We all know what we’re in for. Still, the creative types behind Michael Bay have decided to hit us with the viral video campaign, which I have provided below for your enjoyment. Transformers starts June 24th. I’ll see you there. thanks io9.

So, tiny Decepticon versus Megan Fox? I’ll have to go with the Fox on this one, at least in this movie, where she’s a grease monkey. Yes, Megan Fox is playing a grease monkey. Nice one, Michael Bay, nice one…

Already, the standard cut of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is more than sufficient to blast your beloved eyeballs clean out of their orbital sockets. For fans of the Imax, Michael Bay has a special treat for you to totally overwhelm your already overloaded brain parts. Let’s let Michael tell you what he has in store, via a post on his website.
“I created a slightly longer cut with more robot fighting.”
“Four scenes were shot on IMAX cameras, so the screen will fill the full IMAX screen for these scenes.”
More robot fighting! Full screen Imax is a wonder to behold. A little more expensive and I have to get there (with wife in tow) about 1.5 to 2 hours early to get the coveted perfect viewing angle. But it’s worth it. I’ll see you there June 24th. Via io9

Having said that, the Japanese is getting the movie way faster than we in the States, which means — premiere photos from Japan. Pics via Bay’s website, Megan Fox’s unGodly hotness via God.

I’m really looking forward to the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” movie. It’s going to have some excellent, hard core, mechanical mayhem. The first one was a little clueless but quite entertaining. I really like Shia, so all you haters (if there really are any) can bite me. Shia brings it. I watched Disturbia again last night late night in between hockey and an epic late night readathon of William R. Forstchen’s post apocalyptic thriller “One Second After” and Shia is just a blast to watch.
MTV got themselves an exclusive image of the ultimate bad guy in Transformers and Shia LeBeouf has been quoted on The Fallen and it’s upcoming epic badness.
“Basically, the Fallen is to them what cavemen, Neanderthals were to us… He’s the ancestor, the first version of this exoskeleton. He’s the first version of this sentient being. That’s what he is. He’s the origins of what they came from. [The relationship between him and Megatron is] [...]
