One of these days I might end up writing a review for Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” reboot. Right now, I don’t feel like it. The film was okay. It was slick and shiny and looked really good, but everything else about it was just … okay. Basically, there was no point to remake the Paul Verhoeven original, and I think most people realized that and stayed away as a result. This weekend, the film opened second place with $26 million, soundly beaten out for the top spot by “The Dark knight Rises”, now in its third week. But $26 million. That’s not a bad haul, right? Well, not really. Consider that it cost Sony $125 million to make the film, and when you add in the promotional costs of marketing a blockbuster, you’re probably looking at around $200 million in costs before the film even sees a cent. The thing is, I’m not even that big of a fan of… Continue Reading »
Cause like me, I know you can’t get enough of this movie. Plus, it’s like the only big-budget sci-fi movie opening anytime soon, so there’s that. Fortunately these new images are heavy on the Kate Beckinsale. You can sorta see why she chose to play the bad guy in this one. Gal looks like she’s having a blast, definitely more so than a dour looking Jessica Biel. You can tell who is having fun and who isn’t, can’t you? Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled… Continue Reading »
In case you still haven’t made up your mind about Sony’s upcoming “Total Recall” reboot yet, here’s a new extended International TV spot that features more questions, more cool flying hover car thingies, and most important, a quick shot of Kate Beckinsale’s undies. Now that’s what I call a selling point! Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground… Continue Reading »
Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” is hoping to knock “The Dark Knight Rises” off the top spot at the box office next week. That’s a 50-50 percent proposition if I’ve seen one. Then again, maybe two weeks is enough for “Rises” to rule the roost. I guess we’ll see. Check out five clips from “Total Recall” to get you ready. Rebooting with Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Nighy, Jessica Biel, Ethan Hawke, John Cho, Bokeem Woodbine, and Will Yun Lee. Colin looks for the truth August 3, 2012.
Find out how director Len Wiseman made those crazy hover cars in his upcoming reboot of “Total Recall” fly in a new featurette for the movie. True story: they aren’t actually functional hover cars. It’s all movie magic! Crazy, right? Hollywood, man, what will they think of next? Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. Can’t get enough “Total Recall”? Good. Here are two more video clips — a clip with Kate Beckinsale kicking Colin Farrell’s ass, and a featurette on the film’s action scenes, which is quite good. But don’t take my word for it. See it for yourself, bub. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. Another clip from Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” reboot, this one featuring Kate Beckinsale and Bryan Cranston, replacing Ronny Cox as the double-dealing agency head man Cohaagen, which is just an awesome name for the main bad guy in charge of everything. A factory worker, Douglas Quaid, begins to suspect that he is a spy after visiting Rekall – a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have led – goes wrong and he finds himself on the run. Also starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel, and demanding a total recall August 3, 2012.
I hear tell Kate Beckinsale decided to have an American accent when she’s playing Colin Farrell’s good girl wife in the upcoming “Total Recall” reboot, but then switches over to her native English accent when her character shows her true colors. I think that’s kinda cool. And hot. Really hot. Check out a new clip from the upcoming reboot, where Kate shows off her evil side. Yay! It’s a new, totally cooler trailer for Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall”. The trailer answers that question that has been on nerd’s minds since they announced the remake: “Will the three-breasted hooker be in this thing or what?” Yes, she’s in this thing. Or at least, the trailer promises she’s in it, though I don’t know how much of her is actually in it, if you know what I mean. The trailer itself looks pretty action-packed. Not a surprise. This is Len Wiseman, after all. I expect lots of slick, visually stimulating action sequences. I was surprised to see that the film had a lot of humor, though. Best line of the year? “What can I say? I give good wife.” Starring Starring Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Nighy, Jessica Biel, Ethan Hawke, John Cho, Bokeem Woodbine, and Will Yun Lee. Colin saves the day August 3, 2012.
Unless you’ve been living in a cave or hiding underneath a big bug that’s shooting weird explosive things out of its ass and into space, then you already know that they’re remaking Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 splatterific sci-fi actioner “Starship Troopers”. In fact, of the three sci-fi films that Verhoeven has done in his Hollywood career so far (“Troopers”, “Robocop”, and “Total Recall”), all three are currently being remade. Verhoeven’s “Starship Troopers” was a satirical take on a fascist society that valued citizenship to an elite class over individuality and free thought. Or something. Honestly, I’m sure it had a lot of fascist satire in it, but I never really bought that the film was that deep. In fact, its satire was so on-the-nose that it was kind of cringe-worthy, to be perfectly honest with you. But the movie itself was what you would call pretty damn badass. Fifteen years later, the film is still a great watch, with its combination… Continue Reading »
Remember those viral posters we posted not all that long ago? Well, here are the official high-res versions. Please to recall.
Apparently you need to live in Los Angeles to actually stumble across these very real outdoor banners for the upcoming “Total Recall” reboot. A couple of them were plastered over billboards around the city, we’re told. I wouldn’t know, it’s been a while since I visited Los Angeles, but maybe if you live there you can tell me if you’ve spotted them. Until then, though, check out the billboard posters themselves below, snapped courtesy of the site Comingsoon. “Total Recall” is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. You probably already know that Len Wiseman’s reboot of “Total Recall” is heavily action-packed. Hey, it’s Len Wiseman, the guy who did the first two “Underworld” movies and “Live Free or Die Hard”. This guy is never going to give you a movie about a dying father and his depressed son. Unless, of course, said dying father turned out to be a vampire and the son a cyborg from the future, or some such. Anyways, check out some new images from “Total Recall”, starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel as asskicking rebels and Kate Beckinsale (aka Mrs. Len Wiseman) as the woman trying to stop them. Also starring Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, Ethan Hawke, John Cho, Bokeem Woodbine, and Will Yun Lee. Get our ass to Mars August 3, 2012.
Check out a new pic from Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” reboot (above). I guess it’s true what they say: bad guys just can’t shoot shit. Even in the future. Or especially in the future. Remember those Star Wars Stormtroopers? I mean, wow, what bad aim. Couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, as the saying goes. Based on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale”, the 2012 version has Colin Farrell playing Douglas Quaid, a bored Everyman whose trip to a little place called Rekall for some relaxation and fake memories ends up, well, going pretty badly if those guys with guns swarming him afterwards are any indication. The sci-fi actioner, also starring Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, Ethan Hawke, Bokeem Woodbine, and Will Yun Lee, recalls it all for you wholesale August 3, 2012.
