First Look at Andrew Niccol’s In Time and Colin Farrell in Total Recall

Take a gander at your first official looks at two upcoming sci-fi films: Andrew Niccol’s “In Time” (previously “Now”, among other titles), and Colin Farrell in Len Wiseman’s remake of “Total Recall”, both courtesy of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried on the run in Niccol’s “In Time”:

Total Recall Reboot Adds Will Yun Lee

Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” reboot has added thespian Will Yun Lee to his cast of futuristic freedom fighters. Variety has Lee, last seen in “Elektra” and “Die Another Day” (among others), playing Marek, a close friend and co-worker of Colin Farrell’s protagonist.

Bill Nighy is your Futuristic Rebel Leader in Total Recall Remake

And you can forget about Bill Nighy showing up as a some mutation stuck to some dude’s belly, cause this version of “Total Recall” is ditching the Mars plot compeltely.

THR reports that Nighy, who previously worked with “Total Recall” director Len Wiseman on the “Underworld” movies, has signed on to play Quatto (previously Kuato in the 1990 original), the the leader of the resistance.

Maybe Kate Beckinsale Will Get her Fine Ass to Mars Instead of Jessica Biel

So much for Jessica Biel being offered one of the female leads in Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” remake for Sony Pictures. Deadline now says Kate Beckinsale has been offered the role of Lori in the reboot. If she accepts the gig, she would be reuniting with her “Underworld” director Len Wiseman, who happens to also be her husband.

Jessica Biel May be Getting her Fine Ass to Mars, Too

Colin Farrell is already scheduled to get his ass to mars in Sony’s “Total Recall” reboot, and now it looks like Jessica Biel may be heading there, too. Or possibly staying right on Earth.

Bryan Cranston in Talks to Menace Colin Farrell in Total Recall Remake

AMC’s “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston is “in negotiations” to co-star as the heavy in the upcoming Colin Farrell remake of “Total Recall”. If the remake (being penned by Kurt Wimmer of “Equilibrium” fame) follows in the path of the original, Cranston would play Vilos Cohaagen, originally played by Ronny Cox. Of course, they’ll probably change it up, with new character names and situations, so don’t count on Vilos showing up in the remake.

Sci-fi Remake Updates: Sam Raimi on Day of the Triffids, Colin Farrel in Total Recall

Two huge bit of sci-fi movie news for ya today, both involving remakes of sci-fi classics. The first one has Sam Raimi landing the rights to yet another remake of John Wyndham’s “The Day of the Triffids”.

Deadline has that news:

Len Wiseman to Direct Total Recall Remake

We’ve been hearing about a “Total Recall” remake for a while now, but it looks like Columbia Pictures has finally pulled the trigger with the announcement that “Underworld” director Len Wiseman is in final negotiations to helm the remake for them.

Kurt Wimmer to Write Total Recall Remake

Kurt Wimmer is no stranger to sci-fi, but unfortunately he can be real hit-and-miss. His 2002 movie “Equilibrium” (starring a then relatively unknown Christian Bale) oozed coolness out of every celluloid pore, but 2006′s “Ultraviolet” with Milla Jovovich was so indulgent as to be unwatchable. Fortunately for Wimmer, the heavy miss of “Ultraviolet” (which he wrote and directed) hasn’t stopped Columbia Pictures from tapping him to pen the remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 sci-fi actioner “Total Recall”.

The NeverEnding Story Gets Rebooted

True to its name, 1984′s “The NeverEnding Story” didn’t end after the first Hollywood movie. It spawned two sequels and a TV show, but as far as I can tell, the story didn’t really make that much of an impact on the American consciousness. As a result, I’m sure most people just remember that the story was about a dopey kid and a big flying dog or something.

Total Recall Reboot May Be On The Way

arnoldTotal Recall, based on a story by Philip K. Dick called “We can remember it for you wholesale”, may be in for a remake, or as the kids like to say these days, a reboot, according to the Hollywood Reporter. I thought the original was a bit cheesy. Cheesy works in SciFi sometimes though as well we know. The original had a chick with three breasts as I recall. That’s quality work. Via SciFiWire.
