The American Version of Torchwood is Dead at Fox

But don’t get too happy yet, “Torchwood” fans opposed to the idea, because although both sides (Fox and the BBC) have agreed not to further pursue a joint venture with one another, the BBC reiterates that the idea for a U.S. version of “Torchwood” is still very much alive.

Fox is Developing an American Version of Torchwood, Possibly Starring John Barrowman

by Nix - on Jan 19th 2010

Well this is interesting. I dig the BBC’s “Torchwood”, the “Doctor Who” spin-off show whenever I’ve stumbled across it, which unfortunately isn’t all that often. But I have liked what I’ve seen, and John Barrowman is aces as the show’s lead, and I’ve dug him since his “Doctor Who” days. Then again, maybe it’s just the whole “hey, that guy’s got an American accent!” on a very British show like “Who” that endeared him to me. News from THR is that Fox TV is currently developing an American version of Barrowman’s “Torchwood” as a backdoor pilot.

New Torchwood Season Trailer

by Basil Murad - on May 29th 2009

The trailer for the new season of the Dr. Who spinoff series, titled Torchwood:Children of Earth shows tidbits of what I think to be a promising set of episodes. It’s got creepy kids, paranormal investigators (including the lovely Eve Myles), British accents and, well, creepy kids. Truth be told I haven’t yet caught the first two seasons but by the looks of this trailer I don’t think it would be time badly spent at all. Another interesting point about this new season though is that it will forgo the usual 13 episode structure in favor of only 5 episodes. Not sure why they did that but I hope it works out for ‘em.
