Akiva Schaffer’s “The Watch” is clearly sci-fi, so I’m totally justified in posting about it. But it’s also a comedy, which is very clear from these four clips from the film, so I’m not too enthusiastic about it. I just don’t like too much comedy in my alien invasion movies, sorry. Anyways, for those of you who feel differently, check out four clips from the movie. I still can’t decide if Ben Stiller’s “The Watch” is funny or not. The scene at the end where they keep shooting the dead alien is, so far, the only thing in the entire trailer that makes me laugh. I mean, why do they keep shooting the alien? It’s dead! Dude, stop shooting it! Hilarious. Anyways, that’s why you see trailers for free and have to pay to see the whole movie, right? I’m sure the whole movie is funny. Probably. What’s better than a big-budget comedy starring Ben Stiller? Well, a lot of things, actually, but to cut the guy some slack, his latest, “The Watch” (formerly “Neighborhood Watch”) does look like it has some great potential. Or at the very least, it doesn’t look like total suckage is in store for anyone who sees it. For a while there, I wasn’t sure if “The Watch” (formerly “Neighborhood Watch”) was just a dumb comedy or a dumb alien comedy. Turns out, it’s a dumb alien comedy, though admittedly a suspiciously funny looking one. Check out a trio of trailers for the film, including a Red Band Trailer. I don’t think I’ve seen a raunchy alien sci-fi comedy before, so this is new. Four everyday suburban guys come together as an excuse to escape their humdrum lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood — and the world — from total extermination. The sci-fi comedy stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jonah Hill, Nicholas Braun, Richard Ayoade, Will Forte, Doug Jones, Billy Crudup, and is directed by Akiva Schaffer. The end is near July 27, 2012.
