A Russian trailer and a new clip from Matthijs van Heijningen Jr’s “The Thing” prequel, thawing out and killing unsuspecting Norwegians October 14, 2011. In any language, though, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is still hot. Plus, that clip really brings home that this prequel is, well, really, really like the original movie. I’ll leave it to you to decide if that’s a good or a bad thing.

A minute-long Red Band Trailer for director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr’s “The Thing” prequel. Yes, it’s a prequel. That’s pretty much in stone now. Or, er, in ice, I guess, would be more appropriate.

New Images and a Clip From The Thing Prequel

The Thing (2011) Movie Image

Still don’t think there’s any reason to remake/make a prequel to John Carpenter’s “The Thing”, but whatever, they’re doing it, so deal, I guess. New images from the prequel below. Mary Elizabeth Winstead looks cute as all heck, but the movie doesn’t look that great. The clip, in particular, screams generic cheese. But that’s the problem with prequels, isn’t it? You already know where they’re going and how they’ll end.

First Trailer for The Thing Prequel Thaws Online

Well, it’s here. In more ways than one, natch. The alien has arrived, and so has the trailer for “The Thing” prequel. It looks … well, it’s basically the same movie as the John Carpenter 1982 original, isn’t it? Except it has Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She’s cute.

LOST’s Mr. Eko Joins The Cast Of The Thing Prequel

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, otherwise known as the famous Mr. Eko on LOST, has joined the team and is heading into the frozen wastes of The Thing prequel.

He plays Derek Jameson, pilot and soon to be Thing food, or destroyer? In the casting call, Derek was described thusly,

The Thing Prequel Forensically Analysed For Your Enjoyment

Following up a classic movie that basically got everything right is no easy task. In this case, John Carpenter’s “The Thing” was a Sci Fi/Horror frozen treat, jam packed with sweet bloody carnage, morphy alien madness and starring one of cinemas premiere bad-asses in the bearded form of Kurt Russell.

First Set Pictures From The Thing Prequel

In the better to have not made it then to screw it up category, we continue our ongoing coverage of “The Thing” prequel with some icey Norwegian Antarctic base pictures. Not much to elaborate on besides the fact that, as a Canadian and an expert on cold, it looks legit.

Norwegian Actors Added To The Thing Prequel En Masse

We spoke recently about the Norwegian mother tongue being used extensively (with English Subs) in the prequel to the original, sweet Sci-Fi horror candy, “The Thing”,  just about to get filming in British Columbia and Toronto.

The Thing Prequel In Norwegian With English Subtitles?

The original “The Thing”, starring absolute bad-ass Kurt Russell, was one of my favorite movies of all time. We had paranoia inducing Antarctic isolation, people teetering on the verge of insanity, big bushy beards and that was before the shape changing, human hunting, dog imitating creature from the frozen flying saucer arrived.

The Thing Sequel Finds its Victims — er I Mean Stars

By now you already know more about the upcoming “The Thing” sequel (or prequel, actually) then you may have wanted to know, but you may be wondering about who will be fronting the film. Kurt Russell is certainly nowhere to be found, but in his stead you’ll get Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton as the film’s two young leads.

Some Serious Details On The Thing Prequel

John Carpenter’s “The Thing” was a gruesome work of Sci-Fi/Horror art. Think Ridley Scott’s “Alien” but with ice, isolation, paranoia and a nasty shapeshifting beastie with big teeth. It was wonderful. “The Thing” had a great cast too with Kurt Russell leading the lot in his cool way to their eventual doom.

Prequel To John Carpenter’s The Thing To Start Filming In March

“The Thing” is right up there alongside “Alien” as among the very best Sci-fi/Horror flicks ever stamped on film and the prequel, floating around in the dreams of Universal bosses for some time, is about to start filming in March in sunny Toronto. In the original, science types in Antarctica led by Kurt Russell encounter a dog being chased by some crazy Norwegians in a helicopter. After the Norwegians accidental blow themselves up with a charge meant for the dog, the American scientists chock the whole thing up to some bizarre Nordic sport and take in the poor puppy. The dog turns out to be a really nasty shape-shifting alien from a crashed spaceship the Norwegians dug up.
