Summer Glau on Dollhouse? It’s Possible Says Whedon

With her show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles now canceled by the geniuses over at FOX, Summer Glau is looking for a job. Say, how about reuniting with her Firefly and “Serenity” bud Joss Whedon over at his new show Dollhouse? You know, the show that got renewed despite being of way lesser quality than Glau’s own Terminator show? Yeah, that one. Maybe Whedon can get her on the show as compensation?

Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy Shows: Renewals, Cancellations, and Newcomers

With the networks officially kicking off their upfront presentations this month, we’ve now gotten official (and in some cases, semi-official) confirmations about which shows are coming back, which ones are gone, and what new offerings will be available to the genre fans out there. The schedule for the upfronts are: FOX’s begins today, followed by ABC on Tuesday, and CBS on Wednesday. NBC already did theirs earlier this month.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles Officially Canceled?

Entertainment Weeklys Michael Ausiello is reporting some bad news for Terminator fans. He reports that “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” has been officially canceled. Ughhh, that smarts. I was just really starting to get into it. It’s not been confirmed by anyone else yet that I’ve seen so maybe he had a bad dream or ate something that didn’t agree with him and hallucinated it. Thanks EW, I guess.

Sarah Connor Chronicles Goes Out with a Whimper, Dollhouse Flat

It goes without saying that ratings for FOX’s sci-fi Friday night line-up haven’t exactly been gangbusters. Okay, so they’ve been downright atrocious. I had hoped that last week’s episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles would change that fortune somewhat, but that seems not to be the case. The Terminator TV show wrapped up its second season with a whimper, pulling in an about-average (for the show) 3.6 million viewers according to THR. Dollhouse, as well, pulled in 3.6 million viewers for the night.

Dollhouse and Sarah Connor Chronicles Ratings Improve

Maybe people are finally starting to realize that FOX has a good thing going over on Fridays, and are starting to tune in? One can only hope. But anyways, here is one good news from the sci-fi TV arena, which sees a slight improvement for both Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the two show’s fourth week on FOX’s doomed Friday night timeslot.

DVR Numbers for Dollhouse and TSCC Better than Expected

Could DVR actually save both Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? No idea, but according to THR’s Live Feed blog, the DVR numbers (something called “time shifted” viewing, whatever the hell that means) are actually better than expected, giving both shows better ratings than some of its competitors in the Friday night timeslot.

TSCC and Dollhouse Premiere Ratings

In a word, they suck. In another word, FOX has succeeded in what they tried to do — bury Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse and the second half of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Congratulations, FOX, you apparently had no faith in either show and slotted them both in your Friday Night Death Slot, and the outcome was predictable. Just how bad are the numbers? Atrocious.

Must Watch: FOX’s Sci-Fi Friday Debut with Dollhouse and TSCC

Here’s the deal: If you’re a fan of sci-fi, and you would like to see more sci-fi on TV, then you need to tune in tonight for FOX’s debut of their Sci-Fi Friday slate of Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. If you have even a passing interest in the genre, you MUST tune in. The two shows are already going up against it — nothing has survived on FOX’s Friday night timeslot since The X-Files. I mean, nothing. There is a reason they call it the “graveyard shift” over at FOX.

New Dollhouse Grindhouse Trailer and Promos

Do I wish that Fox had put Dollhouse on a better timeslot instead of Friday, aka the Graveyard Shift? Sure, I wish they had done that. How about Mondays after House or before 24? Or how about Tuesdays after American Idol? Basically, any day of the week is preferable to Fridays, when almost no one stays home to watch TV. Or at least, genre TV on the Fox network.

FOX Dooms Dollhouse and Terminator to Friday Nights in 2009

I mentioned this before when I posted the latest trailer for Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, but it deserves another post of its own: the FOX network has decided to schedule Dollhouse on Friday nights along with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for their Spring 2009 line-up. Now, at first this may not seem like such a big deal, but it’s a pretty big deal for a new show like Dollhouse. Not only has FOX moved the lowly-rated Terminator (which has been in trouble pretty much throughout its second season, ratings-wise, with impending cancellation somewhere on the horizon) from its original Monday night time slot, all but guaranteeing its death, but it’s giving Whedon a very poor lead-in show to boot.

Sci-Fi Babe Spotlight: Summer Glau

Our sci-fi babe spotlight for the day is Summer Glau, who is quickly becoming the go-to girl for “hot sci-fi chick” characters. She’s played the role in Joss Whedon’s cancelled Firefly (and the movie version “Serenity”) and is now wowing boys everywhere as the hottest looking Terminator since, well, ever in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show, which you can catch on FOX weekly.
