Katniss Cuts a Fine Heroic Figure in Latest Hunger Games: Catching Fire Poster
Nix May 17, 2013I wonder where Peeta is.
I wonder where Peeta is.
Yeah, guy with a gun, go ahead, shoot her, it’ll just make her mad!
Damn, Peeta looks tiny even sitting down.
Katniss doesn’t look pleased.
Let’s hope they survive the celebrations.
Francis Lawrence, already directing “Catching Fire”, will now stay on the franchise and direct the concluding two-part “Mockingjay” as well.
Just a heads up, kids: Lionsgate has officially start production on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”. No, really, check out the press release below.
Jeffrey Wright, James Bond’s Brotha from Langley, has been cast in Lionsgate’s upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”. While the first movie might not be all that sci-fi-ish, the second and third movie (or, er, third and fourth now, I guess) will be heavily sci-fi, what with flying ships and what not. Anyways, on to the latest casting.
God bless them, Lionsgate and the folks behind “The Hunger Games” franchise really wants to keep you abreast of all the daily happenings on their movie franchise. They did this with the first movie a year ago, and they’re keeping up with it on the sequel, “Catching Fire”, which is due out next year. So, for those of you interested in every little bit about “Catching Fire”, here’s the latest round of casting announcements… (You can keep up with all of this here, by the way.) The latest casting is on top. You can click on the pic below for a bigger version for easier reading.
So yes, it’s official. Press release from Lionsgate ahoy. Most of “The Hunger Games’” fanbase will have no idea who Hoffman is, but everyone over 30 will know this is a pretty damn good catch for the franchise. I’m actually surprised Hoffman even considered doing it. He either has kids who love the books, or there are a couple of mortgages that need payin’. Santa Monica, CA, July 9, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been cast in the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Gamemaker for The Hunger Games, in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Yes, this is actual news, because the woman above (and below), Swiss-Greek model Zoe Aggeliki, is said to be the frontrunner for is a pivotal character in the sequel and even sticks around for the third movie. Plus, she’s very attractive, and this is a perfect excuse to post a picture of a very attractive model. Deadline says Zoe Aggeliki is in line to play Johanna Mason in the upcoming sequel by Francis Lawrence (of “I am Legend” fame (or infamy, depending on your perspective)). She apparently beat out all the other girls in competition, including “Sucker Punch’s” Jena Malone for the gig. It’s not official yet, but it’s kinda official. When Deadline says you’re the frontrunner, you basically already have the job, and now just need for the contracts to get typed up. Aggeliki would play Mason, “an ax-welding, deceptive and ruthless winner of a previous Hunger Games”. I would say Katniss better not cross her, but as it… Continue Reading »
Hard to believe, but yes, “Hunger Games” fans, the first movie based on the Suzanne Collins trilogy of novels will be heading to a theater near you in March. Until then, check out a new image (above) and this news that a writer has officially been hired to pen the second film in the series, “Catching Fire”. Simon Beaufoy, best known for writing (and winning an Oscar for) Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” will be adapting “Catching Fire” for director Gary Ross, who will also continue on the franchise and direct the sequel, though no word if he’ll also do the third and final film, “Mockingjay”. Let’s face it, there will be a second and third movie. I just don’t see the film not being one of 2012′s big hits, even with “The Avengers” and “The Dark Knight Rises” also opening in the year. “The Hunger Games” will get in there and get out before those films can trample everyone else… Continue Reading »
