The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake is So Good, Even Aliens will Love It

20th Century Fox, the studio behind this Friday’s “The Day The Earth Stood Still” remake is so sure about the awesomeness of their remake that they’re beaming the movie into outer space for aliens to see. No, I shit you not. They are beaming the movie out into outer space. Obviously this is a sad, sad publicity ploy for a movie that has been bashed up and down, side to side, and in and out by the fanboy base on the Internet for being, well, pandering and just downright sucky. I don’t think I’ve read a single decent review for this thing, which isn’t a surprise. It’s a totally unnecessary remake of a classic where the main storyline has been changed because Hollywood is currently so in love with itself for “battling” Global Warming that it’s back is sore from all the back slapping it’s doing.

Fascist Alien Environmentalists Attack in New Day the Earth Stood Still Remake 5-Minute Trailer

Behold, the wonders of a wooden Keanu Reeves as he plays the role he was born to play — an alien humanoid devoid of personality! Marvel at the crappiness of a totally CGI Gort as he shoots laser beams out of his cyclop eye at attacking fighter jets! Wonder at the inherent fascism of alien beings that threatens to destroy the human race if we don’t conform to their beliefs and pick up our garbage! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, here’s a 5-minute trailer for the upcoming “The Day the Earth Stood Still” remake, which, if nothing else, really brings the point home that environmentalists can be fascist douche bags sometimes.

New Day the Earth Stood Still Remake Images

Two new images from Scott Derrickson’s remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” have arrived online. The most curious image is the one with stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. What you have here is the incredibly expressive Connelly with the incredibly stilted Reeves. The difference, on the big screen, should be worth a nice laugh or two. And hey, maybe they won’t get as heavy handed with the whole “global warming is going to destroy us all!” message that we’ve been hearing rumors about. Probably not, though.

The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake Posters

Who knows if Keanu Reeves and director Scott Derrickson’s remake of the 1951 classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still” will connect with audiences or make them leave the theater groaning in despair — no, not because of the movie’s contemporary message about global warming, but that they just spent another $10 watching Keanu Reeves play a stiff, barely humanoid alien. Doesn’t he play that in every movie? But I digress. Two new posters from the movie have showed up online.

Keanu Reeves as Klaatu and First Trailer!

Here’s your first look at Keanu Reeves as the alien Klaatu in the upcoming “The Day the Earth Stood Still” remake. You remember, the one where they’ve swapped Global Warming hysteria for Nuke Hysteria? Yeah, that one. And yes, it’s just a single picture of Reeves in a suit, which could be from anything, but according to site Film1.nl, it is indeed Reeves as Klaatu from the remake.

Teaser Poster for The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake

Let’s face it, Hollywood’s attempt to turn the classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still” into another pointless, preachy movie about the environment has already turned off a lot of people. It’s bad enough that Keanu Reeves is expected to emote in this movie, but add to it the insulting nature of being preached to by a movie made on a bloated budget, by a community obsessed with its own excesses, and it almost makes you want to throw something at the screen. Having said that, here’s the first teaser poster for the movie, which claims a release date of December 2008, a year earlier than anyone had expected.

Plot: A remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film of the same name, about an alien visitor (played by Keanu Reeves) and his giant robot counterpart, who visit Earth with a dire warning: stop their ravaging or the planet (re: global warming) or face the consequences. Script Review: The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake

Uh oh. It looks like someone from Aint-it-cool-News, or someone who regularly writes for them, has gotten their hands on the script for the upcoming “The Day the Earth Stood Still” remake. As you’ll recall, Keanu Reeves let the cat out of the bag a few weeks back when he told MTV that the new version will involve Global Warming instead of nuclear annihilation, which as you might expect, made me think this movie was gonna suck because of that pandering crap. Now according to the script review — yup, it’s gonna suck because it just, well, plain sucks, apparently.

The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake is About Global Warming

You knew it had to happen, and in the back of you mind, you even suspected. Yes, it’s true, the upcoming remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” will throw away the “end violence” message of the 1951 original, and instead exchange it with a “get green” message of today. I guess in a way I sort of knew this was going to happen. It’s Hollywood, after all, and “going green” is the cause du jour of the last few years. They’ll keep pumping the same message until something more sexy comes along.

BSG’s Aaron Douglas Joins Earth Stood Still Remake

Keanu Reeve’s remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” continues to add to its cast. The latest addition will make all the Battlestar Galactica fans out there happy, because Aaron Douglas (aka the chief monkey wrench on the Galactica) has joined the cast. No word on what character he’ll be playing.

Jaden Smith Joins The Day The Earth Stood Still Remake

Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, stars of the upcoming “The Day the Earth Stood Still” remake, is getting a precocious 8-year old — Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith, last seen pandering for Oscar votes in the elder Smith’s “The Pursuit of Happyness”.
