Well this kinda sucks. While I wasn’t instantly enamored with the new Bionic Woman when I first saw it, and indeed, I missed the next couple of episodes, I thought it had potential. Well nevermind that now, because even though we reported that the show was cancelled a while back, the show’s producer David Eick has now officially confirmed to Sci Fi Wire that Bionic Woman is, indeed, done. Although, curiously, NBC still hasn’t said a word about it. Kinda cruel of them, don’t you think, dangling the fans along like this? More: David Eick, co-executive producer of NBC’s SF series Bionic Woman, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that the network has indeed canceled the show, though the network has not yet officially said as much. “I just felt that the process was so frustrating, and the conditions under which we were making that show never really came to fruition in such a way that I felt like we could [...]

After months of speculation, it seems very official (though not quite yet; NBC itself is still keeping mum) that Michelle Ryan’s The Bionic Woman update has been cancelled. At least, that’s according to TV Guide, who quotes sources within the network. The only thing that’s left is for NBC to confirm it, and to be honest, it’s silly that they simply refused to, when everyone already knows it. More: lthough NBC isn’t talking, I’m told by multiple sources that Bionic staffers were informed late last week that the troubled reboot has indeed been canceled. That means no spring relaunch under new show-runner Jason Cahill — which is too bad. Cahill’s a talented guy (see: The Sopranos), and I was anxious to see what he would do with the show. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Eh, I don’t know how to feel about this. I watched the pilot and a couple of other episodes, but I don’t know, [...]

At least not yet, according to NBC, who told TVGuide that the show has not been cancelled, but has merely gone on hiatus due to not having any scripts to shoot because of the ongoing Writer’s Strike. Of course, NBC doesn’t say what will happen once the show finishes up its initial 13-episode order, including an expected 2-episode relaunch of the show in January 2008. Usually, if a network decides to keep a show, they’ll order the “back end”, i.e. the remainder of the season’s worth of episodes. In this case, there has been no such orders for Bionic Woman. Here’s what NBC told TVGuide: Bionic Woman has not been canceled. Production was shut down due to the WGA strike. In addition, we have not completed the initial 13-episode order, which will be the first order of business when the strike ends. Definitely no commitments there. It could go either way for the bionic woman, it appears…

That’s the rumor floating around the ‘net in recent days: that NBC has decided to ax it’s troubled Bionic Woman TV series. The show, an “update” of the classic TV series of the same name, starred British actress Michelle Ryan as a young woman who becomes bionic after a brutal car accident, and is recruited by government forces to fight evil. The show has had a long history of creative problems among its staff, and with declining ratings… Well, is it over for the Bionic Woman? The news comes from Hollyscoop TV, who says that the show has been “scrapped after just eight episodes due to the writer’s strike and a massive drop in viewer ship.” Now I haven’t been able to find any official announcement of this, so I can’t deny or confirm the cancellation rumors. More: An insider says, “This is devastating news for the cast. They loved working on the program. Michelle is going to be very [...]

Everyone who has seen promos for NBC’s upcoming remake of the “Bionic Woman” series knows that Katee Sackhoff plays a former Bionic Woman who has gone bad, and is now the main nemesis for young Michelle Ryan’s new Bionic Woman character. But how many episodes will Sackhoff be in? According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s going to be quite a bit, because Sackhoff has just inked a deal with NBC to make her character a recurring character on the show, a stint made easier since both “Bionic Woman” and Sackhoff’s other show, “Battlestar Galactica” shoots up North in Canada. The big news wasn’t even the contractual agreement, but why Sackhoff wasn’t showing up at the NBC press thing the networks hold to introduce their shows and the cast. Some were speculating that Sackhoff hadn’t shown up because she was boycotting the event and NBC for hiring Isaiah Washington onto the cast. As you may or may not know, Washington has [...]
