Rejoice, “Supernatural” fans: the CW has renewed “Supernatural” for a seventh season, even as Season 6 (sans creator Eric Kripke) winds down. Last we saw Dean and Sam, they were stuck in the Wild West while Castiel dealt with an angel civil war in Heaven. Or something like that. Fact is, we’ve heard a lot about that war, but haven’t seen much in terms of Sam and Dean. When are the brothers gonna get in on the action? Soon, I hope. Until then, check out a couple of clips from this week’s new “Supernatural” episode titled “Mommy Dearest”, which finds the Winchester boys facing off against “Mother” in, of course, a diner. This is “Supernatural”, after all, it’s never what you think it’s going to be. Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel track Eve to a small town in Oregon. The guys discover the townspeople have been converted to demons, but surprisingly, they all appear to be dying. When they finally [...]

If “Supernatural” didn’t jump the shark two episodes ago when stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were playing, well, themselves, then it’s never gonna. At this point, I don’t see the show as a “must-see” anymore, though it’s still somewhat entertaining. Then again, I’m a sucker for shows with this kind of premise, so that’s not a surprise. What is a surprise is this news that “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke (who played himself in the aforementioned jump-the-shark episode) has returned to pen the show’s Season 6 finale, and according to Kripke and current showrunner Sera Gamble, Season 7 of “Supernatural” is looking very likely. Kripke tells E! Online: We’re looking pretty good [in terms of coming back for Season 7]. We’re bullish enough on it that we cliffhang the finale. Gamble adds: I feel an obligation to answer a fair amount of questions, but also to cliffhang some stuff for next season. We have some stuff cliffhanging at the end [...]

This “Supernatural” Season 6 promo was released about a month ago, but I didn’t get around to it, so here it is. It’s essentially a recap of the events leading up Season 5′s final confrontation with Lucifer, followed by a quick look at Dean “at home” afterwards. Nothing you haven’t seen before, and no new footage from the coming season as far as I can tell, but it certainly gets you jazzed up for Season 6. And in case you missed it, promo images from the “Supernatur” season 6 premiere (“Exile on Main Street”) due on the air September 24, 2010 on the CW, can be found here.

If you’re one of those people wondering how it is that “Smallville” can keep going and going and going and never seem to get anywhere, apparently the CW kinda feels the same way: the network has made it prett much official that “Smallville’s” upcoming 10th season (yes, this show has been on for ten years, go figure) will also be its last. Fans of “Smallville” needn’t be so glum. Ten years is a hell of a run for any show, much less genre shows, which never really seem to get a lot of respect from the networks. “Smallville” will remain in its Friday night time slot, where it has thrived despite Friday generally being known as the Graveyard Shift to many TV viewers. Come this fall, “Smallville” will also find itself with a new dance partner in “Supernatural”, which the CW will be moving to Fridays for its sixth (and possibly final) season. The network will slot their new action-adventure [...]

And so it comes down to tonight’s “Swan Song”, the final episode of “Supernatural” Season 5. “Swan Song” marks the final episode where show creator Eric Kripke will be in charge, having decided to leave to pursue other endeavors now that the 5-year story arc he had planned to tell has been concluded with tonight’s season finale. So where does that leave “Supernatural”? There are new showrunners, and a sixth season will be forthcoming from the CW. I don’t really know how to feel about that — a part of me is happy that the show won’t die after tonight, but another part of me just realizes how perfect “Swan Song” is, and how perfectly this would have made for a series finale. The cold hard fact is, TV is a business, and “Supernatural” still has fans and its ratings are still strong enough for the CW to keep it around. After all, look at “Smallville”. That show is in [...]

“Supernatural” season finales. Are there anything better? I dare say, NO. With the last episode of “Supernatural” Season 5 coming up later this week, it means Sam and Dean Winchester will finally confront the Lucifer for the whole ball of wax. And if they should fail, well, you can kiss your asses goodbye, then. Show creator Eric Kripke has always intended for this season to be the final season, but with the CW having renewed the show for a sixth year, it looks like there will be more “Supernatural” on the horizon. With the apocalyptic storyline wrapping up here, I’m guessing the sixth year will be more filler material stuff. I’m of two minds about a sixth season: on the one hand, I’d love more “Supernatural”, but on the other hand, if this is how it’s meant to end, why keep it going? Check out some sneak peek clips from “Swan Song”. And the finale promo featuring “O’Death” by Jennifer [...]

Who knew a show as good as “Supernatural” would manage to last for 100 episodes? Talk about bucking the trend! Usually on network TV the good ones die young and the shitty ones keep on living and living and living… Well next week’s “Supernatural” episode is indeed its 100th, and they’re bringing out the real heavy stuff. Not loud explosions or fights, those are just background noise on a show like “Supernatural”, but the really loud emotional stuff that has been building since the beginning of the current season. The CW has put out three sneak peek clips (about six minutes of total “Supernatural” asskicking goodness) for next week’s new episode, “Point of No Return”. If you saw last night’s “99 Problems”, then you know Dean Winchester is about to do something he’s been resisting all year, and no one is happy about it, least of all renegade angel Castiel, it would appear.
The CW’s “Supernatural” is pretty much the only decent thing on that young-people-having-sex-obsessed network that I bother to DVR. The show is currently in its fifth season and in the middle of its demon apocalypse storyline, with Satan and the Angels fighting for the survival of the planet and the boys Winchester stuck dab smack in the middle. The show’s creator and mastermind, Eric Kripke has always said that he’s planned the show as a 5-year story, with that arc wrapping up at the end of this season. Now comes word that the CW has renewed the show past the demon apocalypse storyline, which means changes are afoot. The biggest news is that, along with the Season 6 renewal, showrunner Eric Kripke will be stepping down from his post, and handing the job over to long-time “Supernatural” writer/producer Sera Gamble. Word is, that while Kripke will no longer be the day-to-day genius behind what goes down in the world of [...]

After killing off Jo and her mom (sigh, catch you later, Alona Tal) “Supernatural” is on a bit of a holding pattern for the next few episodes, including last week’s asylum-set filler. Until the show does rebound back to its main demon apocalypse storyline, there’s new “Supernatural” content to be found on the net in the form of 10, 3-minute webisodes based on the “Ghostfacers”. You remember the Ghostfacers, don’t you? Those “Ghost Hunters”-wannabes who the brothers Winchester ran across in year one, then again in year three? Well they’re back. The original web series will star A.J. Buckley (“CSI: NY”), Travis Wester (“Bones”), Brittany Ishibashi (“Supernatural”) and Austin Basis (“Life Unexpected”), and will follow the Ghostfacers as they investigate various hauntings, presumably with comedic results. After all, the Ghostfacers themselves were originally created to parody all the ghost-chasing shows on TV, so there’s a good chance the web series will go for the laughs. The web series will premiere [...]
