You knew it had to happen: Dean and Sam Winchester REALLY breaks through the fourth wall in tonight’s episode of “Supernatural”, titled, “Changing Channels”. It looks like the apocalypse and all that end of the world stuff will just have to wait while the boys have to figure out how to escape the Trickster’s latest game — trapped inside some of America’s current crop of mindnumbingly SHITTY TV shows.
There should be plenty of funny, juicy bits here, that’s for sure. If “Supernatural” is one thing, it’s that it never really conformed to mainstream TV. Compare it to shows like your average “CSI” and its legion of clones, or “Grey’s Anatomy” and its legion of clones, and “Supernatural” just sings with originality.
The Trickster (guest star Richard Speight Jr.) throws Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) into an alternate universe where they are characters in different television series, including a sexy medical show, a Japanese game show, a forensics [...]

The boys return for their fifth season, picking up where Season 4 left off, with Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) stuck in a vault as Lucifer begins to rise from Hell, the boys having failed miserably to stop the Evil One’s return to Earth throughout much of last season. With the damage done, it’s all-out demon apocalypse! Right? Not really, as it turns out.
Of course the bad times don’t start rolling just yet. This is, after all, the first episode of what is supposed to be an epic and final season for Supernatural (unless the CW decides to grant creator Eric Kripke a sixth season, which is, at this point, not yet a given). As the saying goes, you can’t very well, er, “consummate” on the first episode, not with 20 or so more still waiting in the wings.
As a result, Lucifer’s return to Earth is somewhat uneventful, as the fallen angel circles a potential [...]

They’re baaaaaaaaaack. That’s right, cool kids, the Winchester bros are back to fight them some demons. And, er, the Devil. As you’ll recall, the Devil got himself released at the end of last season, leaving our boys to face the consequences of their actions. Ain’t that a bitch?
Supernatural, episode 5.01, “Sympathy for the Devil” makes it premiere later this week in the show’s usual Thursday night timeslot on the CW. And if you’re one of the cool kids, you should be watching it. And if you aren’t, well, you’re not very cool, are you?
Here are four clips from the upcoming episode.

Finally! I was getting a little disappointed by all the Supernatural Season 5 stuff that I’ve been seeing, mostly how un-apocalyptic it all seemed. Then came this new Season 5 trailer. WOW.
I love everything about it, from the music (incredible mood-setter, that) to the visuals. Dean and Sam, still conflicting a tad, but more brotherly than before, taking on a new world post demon-apocalypse. Lucifer has been unleashed on Hell, for God’s sake (no pun intended), so it SHOULD look this bad for our heroes.
Supernatural Season 5 returns September 10 on the CW.

The Winchester boys return next month, September 10 with an all-new Season 5. The whole shebang kicks off with the episode “Sympathy for the Devil”, which judging by the promos below, doesn’t look all that, well post-apocalyptic. At least, I was expecting something on a grander (more horrific) scale after the release of Lucifer at the end of last year and not what looks like more of the same? The girl in the black leather is apparently Meg, another one of Sam’s old “cute girl turns out to be a demon bitch” from the show’s earlier seasons. Ol Sam and Dean’s got plenty of those.

It’s been a while since we saw the Winchester boys slay some demon scum, and although Season 4 ended with a bang (and the unleashing of Lucifer on Earth, which is never a good thing), it’s easy to forget all the little details that led up to that.
Well this two and a half minute video doesn’t really remind you of everything that’s happened so far in the story, but it does give a nice little recap of how Lucifer came to be, and the treachery of that bitch demon Ruby. I never liked her from the very beginning. Seriously, she wasn’t even that hot. Okay, she was that hot, but I still never trusted her.
Catch up on Supernatural Season 4 below. Season 5 begins September 10 on the CW.

You know me, I love my Supernatural. Heck, I like the show so much I’m even willing to bend the rules around here and post news about it even though it’s obviously not sci-fi. Now comes news that Paris Hilton will be guest-starring on the show. Wha…?
Well this is pretty old news, actually. E! Online posted it last week, but I didn’t get around to it, so here it is: Paris Hilton will guest star on Episode 5 of Supernatural’s upcoming season (number five, if you’re keeping track at home, kids).
Now, now, I know a lot of you kids aren’t fans of the socialite, but I think it’ll be perfectly fine, and even great. Not great that Hilton will be guest-starring, but because the Supernatural boys obviously will do something wicked with her character. Remember their magic-themed “Criss Angel is a Douche Bag” episode? Exactly. When it comes to skewering celebrities, the Supernatural boys don’t hold back, and I [...]

Supernatural was one of the panels at Comic-Con last month that I wanted to attend, but unfortunately it was on a Sunday, one of the few worthy panels in the whole day, and I had to catch a flight earlier in the morning. If I had attended, I would have told you about what show creator Eric Kripke said about the coming Season 5 and the possibility of an additional Season 6, though that’s not a given since the CW hasn’t told the crew if they would be back after this year yet.
Fortunately, the folks at Airlock Alpha has your breakdown of what Kripke said, and what to expect from Season 5.
As fans of the show knows, at the end of Season 4 the Winchester boys had unwittingly unleashed, literally, Hell on Earth by releasing Lucifer from his prison. The entire season had the brothers trying to prevent just that, but alas, evil is apparently smarter than our [...]

With the networks officially kicking off their upfront presentations this month, we’ve now gotten official (and in some cases, semi-official) confirmations about which shows are coming back, which ones are gone, and what new offerings will be available to the genre fans out there. The schedule for the upfronts are: FOX’s begins today, followed by ABC on Tuesday, and CBS on Wednesday. NBC already did theirs earlier this month.
THIS LIST WILL BE UPDATED WHEN APPROPRIATE
NBC:
It was recently confirmed that Chuck will return for a third, albeit shorter season (more info here), while Heroes will also be back for a fourth season. Meanwhile, the fantasy/parallel Earth show Kings is dead in the water, and so is the new Knight Rider despite a lot of tinkering. The net’s supernatural show Medium is also gone from the network, but didn’t stay gone long. It’s now at CBS.
New additions include the mind-reading The Listener and the post-apocalyptic Day One.
FOX:

Ooooh boy. Things are sure heating up on the CW’s Supernatural, quite possibly the only show on that entire network worth watching. Dean and Sam’s really been torn apart (when your brother starts jonesing for demon blood like some crack alley junkie, things have gone downhill), and the angels seem to be up to no good just as much as the demons. One of those angels is played by Misha Collins, and the actor talked to the LA Times about the show’s Season 4 finale, which is airing tonight.
“Well, things are heating up. Things are getting … in a word, apocalyptic. That would be a good summation. I think there’s going to be a lot of big shake-ups in the finale. There will be death. There will be major character changes. Really, the … is going to hit the fan as far as the apocalypse is concerned. Castiel is going to be struggling with orders — very, very distasteful orders [...]

Four clips from this week’s new episode of Supernatural, “Death Takes a Holiday”, which finds the boys Winchester in a small town where people are mysteriously cheating death. The boys turn to blind psychic hottie Pamela (Traci Dinwiddie) for help to find the truth, which apparently includes leaving their bodies and journeying into the spirit world. Watch your step, boys!
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town where people are cheating death. They discover the Reapers have gone missing so they turn to Pamela (guest star Traci Dinwiddie) for help.
She sends them into the spiritual world to find answers and they come face to face with Alastair (guest star Christopher Heyerdahl), who has been kidnapping all the Reapers in order to break another seal.
New episodes of Supernatural’s Season 4 returns this week.

Let’s face it, the CW doesn’t have a whole lot of shows for genre fans, unless of course you’re one of those people who loves his Smallville next to his 90210 or one of the network’s other gazillion shows about rich teenagers having promiscuous sex with each other. But it does have Supernatural and Smallville, both of which have been officially renewed for another season.
Of note is the aging superhero show Smallville, which enters its ninth season with the re-signing of star Tom Welling, reports THR. Obviously there wouldn’t be a ninth season without Clark Kent aka Superman, so I would imagine Mister Welling has gotten himself paid quite handsomely to return once again. At this rate, Clark Kent will have fought every single one of his comic book villains without ever having donned his boy scout uniform.
The brothers Winchester, meanwhile, will return for a fifth season over at Supernatural, which is pretty much the only show on the network [...]

They’re baaaaaaaaack. Yes, that’s right, demons and freaks (and yes, even some of you angels out there), the Winchester boys are back for some more ass whupping fun. The last time we saw the boys, Dean had just told Sam about his time “down there”, and it was not a happy time for our usually cavalier Dean. So what’s happened since? The first episode back from the show’s Winter hiatus is 4.11, “Family Remains”, which airs later this week. It’s followed next week by 4.12, “Criss Angel is a Douchebag”, which takes place in the world of stage magicians, and makes the case for Criss Angel being a douchebag, one presumes.
Here are descriptions and promo images from the two upcoming episodes.
Supernatural 4.11 “Family Remains:

So will Dean use the opportunity to save his mother, who is destined to die at the hands of the Yellow Eye Demon? And would doing so change everything — for the worst?
Here are some promo images for Supernatural Season 4, Episode 3, “In the Beginning”, airing later this week.

Two video clips from the first episode of Supernatural Season 4 (”Lazarus Rising”) finds Dean showing up at Bobby’s door, alive and well, much to the shock of Bobby (hey, wouldn’t you be?), who does the only logical thing and grabs a knife; the second clip has the Winchester boys and Bobby (apparently having gotten over his slack-jawed shock at seeing Dean alive) visiting hot-to-trot psychic Pamela Barnes, who looks like a potential recurring character and love interest for one of the boys. Check out promo images from the premiere episode over here.
“Lazarus Rising” rises September 18.

You gotta love the title for the second episode of Supernatural’s fourth season: “Are You There God? It’s Me, Dean Winchester”. Whoever came up with that title needs a bonus, but I don’t expect anything less from the Supernatural boys. This is one of those shows that just keeps on churning, not really getting a whole lot of props from a whole lot of places, but if you’ve seen one episode, you’re most likely hooked on the show. That’s exactly what happened to me. I saw the pilot episode a while back, but forgot to follow up on it. Later, when the show was in its second season, I kept running across episodes and found myself really liking it. No surprise that I quickly got all the seasons on DVD and caught up.
Episode two of Supernatural Season 4 is called “Are You There God? It’s Me, Dean Winchester”, and we have some promo images for you.

You may or may not have heard by now, but Dean Winchester survives his recent trip to Hell, as seen in the final seconds of the third season’s cliffhanger episode. But how exactly did he return to the land of the living? Was it something Sam did? Maybe, maybe not. We’ll probably find out as the Supernatural Season 4 continues, and how Sam has changed as a result. In the meantime, here are the first promo images from the first episode of Season 4, titled “Lazarus Rising”.

Dean lives! Well, what did you expect? Did you really think Eric Kripke and the WB were going to kill off Dean Winchester in Season 4 of their TV show? Oh come on. Without Dean, there would be no Supernatural. As good as Sam is, Dean makes the show in my book. So in the sci-fi edition of an upcoming TV Guide issue, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke reveals how the Season 4 premiere episode will open: with Dean having escaped Hell, it’s now 4 months later, and Dean has no memories at all of the previous 4 months, or his time in Hell. Good news for him, since, well, we all saw what happened to him at the end of last season, right?
More from the TV Guide issue (via):

It looks like the WB’s Supernatural (aka the only show on that entire channel worth watching) is losing its two new babes. According to TV Guide, and confirmed by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, both Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohen, who were both introduced this year to add the babe factor to the show, have been exorcised. Cohen’s Bela character, of course, was dragged to hell (offscreen), and unlike Dean Winchester (also seen in Hell at the end of Season 3), she won’t be coming back. Meanwhile, Cassidy’s Ruby character was killed (also offscreen) by the evil Lilith demon, and a resurrection is not in the working, as Eric Kripke confirms. But don’t cry for her, Cassidy is already at work on a new Chris Carter (of “X-Files” fame) movie.
I instantly dug Cohen’s Bela, but mostly because bad girls just does it for me. It took a while for me to warm up to Ruby, but by the end of Season [...]

Okay, so I could probably do without an eighth season of Smallville. And in fact, everyone was expecting Season 7 to be the end. But seriously, how long can Clark Kent justify spending all this time on the farm, while there are wars and terrorists and what have you running around that his powers could sure be pretty decent against? But I digress. The CW has announced today that they have renewed Smallville for an eighth season, and at the same time, renewed Supernatural for a fourth season.
More of Supernatural I can get behind, but even that show, I think, is starting to wind down. Although to be sure, I am DYING to find out how they’re going to keep Dean from going to hell. Should be fun.
But Smallville — eh, I don’t know, it sort of stopped being cool after Clark graduated high school and unfathomably still stayed at the farm, while the producers kept writing in different people [...]
