Well, week 17 has come and gone on the good starship Destiny, hurtling away on it’s 5 bazillion year mission to nowhere. In this episode, entitled Pain, it’s time to call the Orkin man. Lets hope it’s not bed bugs, because a certain mattress is going to be getting some extended use not covered in the warranty. Let’s just see if the last episode was a one shot pants full or if the writers got it all packed back together for this weeks extravaganza .
Looks like the crew of Destiny is getting a swimming lesson, especially Doc Nic Rush. Dog paddle, Rush, dog paddle! Some promo images and video teaser for this week’s new “Stargate: Universe” episode, 1.17 “Pain”.
It’s recap time kids so let’s get this party started. We are way up to number 15. The crew of the Destiny has finally gotten their sea legs and this week we’re dealing with the resolution of a cliff hanger that seems to be instead an evolution into a new normal. Greer has abandonment issues. We’ve got a bun in the oven and more!
It’s Friday and time for another hopefully excellent jump into the tangled lives of the marooned souls aboard the Destiny on Stargate Universe.
I’m getting the funny feeling that the brain trust behind Stargate Universe is starting to feel a little confident about their little Sci-Fi show. No longer are the crew of the Destiny plodding around looking glum and searching for something spacey to do. Last nights episode, entitled “Human”, was a smash cut and dreamy affair that had it’s overly serious moments but demonstrated the shows continuing dramatic momentum.
We’re at episode 14 of season one of Stargate Universe and it’s been a good but sometimes bumpy ride. With every passing episode I have higher expectations for the next. Last weeks show was a goodie and it looks like we are being treated this week to the return of Michael Shanks and also we seem to be about to get illuminated on just how Dr. Rush got himself into this sorry mess.

What an odd little episode. Nothing really happened, and yet, a lot actually happened. Instead of “Faith”, the episode really should have been called “Mending”, because that seems to be what everyone is doing for the entire episode.
Let’s face it, if you don’t care for the SyFy Channel’s “Stargate: Universe” you’re probably not going to change your mind by the time the first season finale rolls around. But for those who are still hanging on, and for those who have already gone “all in” with the show, the cast is making some pretty bold predictions about fan reaction to the finale.
As we return to the stranded humans aboard the Destiny after a long hiatus, one thing is clear to me. The budget went up. Cash flow was evident all over the joint in Space, our first episode of the, let’s call it Spring Season. The extra cash was needed because the Sci-Fi game was seriously upped. Universe has returned and it’s on steroids. We’ve got blue transparent old school aliens, wicked space battles with lots of pew pew and a ton of nifty science fiction accessories like inviso-wall HUDS and a much more believable spacey feel. The Destiny doesn’t feel like a WW2 battleship anymore. Now it feels like a real spaceship on a mission.
After a long hiatus, the SyFy Channel’s most talked about new show “Stargate Universe” returns with its mid-season premiere tonight with the episode “Space”, which finds Col. Young, among other things, dealing with the repercussions of, shall we say, bitch slapping Rush around in the last episode.
