Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) Movie Images Gallery
Plot: SG-1 searches for an ancient weapon which could help them defeat the Ori, and discover it may be in the Ori’s own home galaxy. As the Ori prepare to send ships through to the Milky Way to attack Earth, SG-1 travels to the Ori galaxy aboard the Odyssey. The International Oversight committee has their own plans and SG-1 finds themselves in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies.
Well this kinda sucks. While American Stargate fans had to go out and buy their own DVD copy of the Stargate DVD movie, “The Ark of Truth”, UK viewers will be getting the movie for free. Yup, it’s true. The UK’s Sky One will premiere the movie on Wednesday, March 26 at 8 p.m., a mere two weeks after the movie’s U.S. DVD release. And if they liked it, they can then buy the DVD in the UK on April 14.
“Stargate: The Ark of Truth” is the much-anticipated first of two Made-for-DVD movies that continues the adventures of the “Stargate: SG-1″ team, with “Stargate: Continuum” being the second movie. But first, a caveat: The workprint version that I am reviewing runs a little long and is not the final cut. If “Ark of Truth” is scheduled to go straight to DVD, including a run on the Sci Fi Channel, then my guess is that at least 10 minutes, give or take a few minutes, will be cut for final consumption, although I didn’t find the version to be overlong at all. Having said that, this version doesn’t appear to be missing any key scenes, save for a special effects shot here and there, but is otherwise complete.
As previously reported, the first of two “Stargate” made-for-DVD movies, “The Ark of Truth”, will be making its DVD bow on March 11, 2008 from MGM Home Entertainment. Now Sci Fi Wire has released more details about the movie, including when it starts, what it’ll be about, and some DVD features.
There is finally something new for Stargate SG1 fans — the DVD release date for the first of two upcoming SG1 made-for-TV movies, “Stargate: The Ark of Truth”. Gateworld has the DVD hitting March 11, 2008, with, one supposes, the second movie coming soon thereafter.
