There’s just something about “Star Wars” that brings out the geek in people. When I recently attended an advanced screening of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” I kept seeing a blue light flashing out of the corner of my eye. Turning to look, I was surprised to see the source – a $119 light saber (available from Toys R Us. It was so cool I had to check it out). But the biggest surprise was yet to come. The person wielding the “toy” was a man, probably in his mid-40s, dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ah, yes, I was with my people.
“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is an animated feature that builds upon a few passing comments made by Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in “Episode IV: A New Hope.” He asks Obi-Wan if he fought in the Clone Wars; and in her holographic message to the same Jedi master, she says “Years ago you served my father in the Clone [...]

George Lucas and company have released more images from their upcoming “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie in front of the film’s impending August 15, 2008 release date. Now those of you who have seen the cartoon show that the movie is based on probably won’t feel this way, but man, the animation style on this thing is kinda freaky. Seriously, the characters look like marionette dolls minus all the rope. The creepiest part of the characters are the faces. Wow, I mean, this thing might give me nightmares. Anyways, more new pics from the image below.
The Clone Wars are raging between the Separatists and the Galactic Republic. When Jabba the Hutt’s son is taken by a group of renegades, two Jedi are summoned to investigate. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi depart in search of answers: where is the Hutt’s son, and who is controlling this mysterious renegade group? Yoda sends Ahsoka Tano along as Anakin’s apprentice, Obi-Wan duels Asajj [...]

If you didn’t get a chance to see the trailer for George Lucas’ “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie when someone bootleg it and put it on the net, then you’ll be able to catch it again on TV when it “premieres” across multiple Turner TV Networks on Thursday, May 8. This includes the channels Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang. Or, you know, you could just scour the net and watch the bootleg version. I’m sure it’s still up there somewhere. George Lucas can’t find them all…
From StarWars.com:
At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will debut an action-packed, two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. It marks the first time a theatrical trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday, May 9, along with the first poster for the movie.

Three new images from George Lucas’ “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie, set for release in late 2008, have arrived online via Empire Magazine. The images look cool, but Empire has gotten their bloody logo and magazine cover all over them, but hey, it’s new and they’ve got them, so we’ll have to deal with it for now. I’ll post better versions when they become available. Check them out below.
“Star Wars: The Clone War” is meant to bridge the gap between the live-action movie prequels, parts 2 and 3. Dave Filoni directs. It attacks theaters late 2008.

No, it’s not the trailer for “Clone Wars” that you’ve seen before. This one is for the newly announced “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie that is designed to bridge the gap between parts 2 and 3, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”. Because, you know, there were a lot of unanswered questions that apparently George Lucas thinks you Star Wars nuts will desperately want to find out and all that good stuff.
We don’t have the trailer, because frankly, George Lucas’ stormtroopers would just show up and demand we remove it or they’ll sue us and steal my cat, so I’m just going to link you to a couple of sites that currently are hosting it, though for how long, I’m not guaranteeing.
You can see the trailer here and here. Hurry before they’re gone, kids!

The bearded one himself, George Lucas, was in Vegas over the week to premiere a 5-minute clip from the upcoming “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, which according to Lucas, is set between the events of the second and third movie (i.e. the prequels, not the original ones). As for the animation style he’s using, he describes is as “stylized”, and “Gerry Anderson style”. Empire also got him to talk more about the upcoming live-action Star Wars series that he’s planning. Read on.
More:
Lucas described the film, which takes place between episodes two and three of the series, as “a stylised cartoon, it’s not photo real…it’s in a Gerry Anderson style, Thunderbirds. The characters have painted surfaces – they look like they’ve been painted.” He also told us that it will feature all the major characters from the films. “It’s got everyone,” he said. “Yoda, The Emperor… everybody that’s in the features is in the animated series.
To be perfectly honest with you, I’m still not sure why George Lucas is making a feature length animated film based on that whole “Clone Wars” stuff and releasing it into theaters. But I guess he reckons his Star Wars fans will watch pretty much anything he puts out with the “Star Wars” stamp on it; otherwise, why would anyone make his prequels hits? Those movies were Godawful. Anyways, here’s the poster for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated movie.
It’s not exactly the best quality, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

This is news to me, but then again, I don’t really keep up with the Star Wars universe nearly as much as I should, because for me it’s kind of been played out, and I’m not really that interested in heading back to “a galaxy far, far away”. But according to this USA Today story, George Lucas isn’t just releasing “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” as a new TV series, but he’s also releasing it as a feature length movie.
More:
The feature film, chronicling the wartime adventures of a pre-Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker and mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi, takes place immediately before the events in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. It serves as a kickoff for the half-hour animated TV series planned for fall on Cartoon Network and TNT.
About the storyline:
In this film, Anakin and Obi-Wan are trying to hold together the galactic republic, split apart by war between a separatist robot army and the good-guy white-armored clones. (They later become the [...]
