Apparently the bearded one is none too happy about Star Trek taking the box office crown, and possibly knocking down his Star Wars to second place when it comes to viable sci-fi franchises. Check out what George has sent his minions to do. It ain’t pretty.

The William Shatner Scene That Wasn’t
Big Bill wasn’t in Star Trek. I have mixed feelings about this. Or I did. Before I saw the movie I was doubtful that William could be incorporated into Star Trek without the cheese coming along with him. It would have been happy cheese no doubt (isn’t all cheese happy cheese?) but I was ready to leave some of the shlock behind when I went to see J.J. Abram’s version of the Trek.
A Nerd Eye View Of The Science In Star Trek
While staring blissfully with my mouth open like a slack jawed yokel during my IMAX viewing of “Star Trek” last Thursday, I paused from time to time to sport a Spock like eyebrow lift at some of the, let’s say “fascinating”, science on display in the movie.
The Vulcan In Chief Wants His Star Trek At The White House
Yes, I am a Trek Nerd. That is well established. However, don’t tell me that when you see President Obama you don’t have Spock thoughts. He is highly Spockish and practically glows with inner Spockitude. Apparently, as reported by my favorite political site Politico, the POTUS (his Starfleet code name) must have his Trek and he must have it now. The President has requested, and will undoubtedly receive, a screening of Star Trek in the White House theatre. Also, he has met Nimoy and we have Leonard’s account of the moment.
Nimoy Pine and Quinto On Saturday Night Live
On last nights Saturday Night live, Chris Pine and Zack Quinto appear with Leonard Nimoy in the Weekend Update segment talking about their fear of trekkie harassment. Is this movie just too cool for the old schoolers? Thanks Slashfilm. View it before NBC kills it.
Star Trek (2009) Movie Review
Let’s face it, Trek hasn’t been Trek these last few years, so it was probably a good idea to go back and re-invent the wheel. Which is exactly what J.J. Abrams and screenwriters Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman (“Transformers”) have done with the blessing of the studio. And what they have done, by introducing a time-travel storyline, is to essentially remake the Trek universe for today’s audiences, complete with a young cast and the ability to do whatever they want in future Trek movies. Time travel stories have always been tricky business, but the Trek franchise has always been adept at delving into them while still maintaining their universe’s status quo at the end of each episode or movie. Not so here. Abrams and company have essentially nuked the Trek franchise, leaving them free and clear to tell whatever stories, and make Kirk and company do whatever they want from now on, free of the obligation to stick to Trek canon. Whether that is good or bad, and if the fans will come along for future installments remains to be seen.
A Star Trek Review
Let me say with a complete lack of humility that I am uniquely qualified to review “Star Trek” for the following reason. It was the first television program I ever watched. “Star Trek” was imprinted on me like a baby duck gets imprinted on its mother. I watched the show during its original run, via an antenna on a small trailer pointed vaguely toward Buffalo. I watched it with my grandfather. Something about the show was different and I was different after watching it.
J.J. Abrams Interview Video
Good Day New York has a nice interview with J.J. about the big “Star Trek” opening tomorrow. He goes into some detail on the selection of Chris Pine and his feelings about William Shatner’s feelings about not being in the movie. I like that a real Star Trek fan is doing the interview. Thanks to reader Rowdy for the tip.
Kirk On Kirk Action
Captured live on film we have the first meeting of the Kirks, Chris Pine and William Shatner. It’s a pretty cool moment for you Trekkie’s out there. I misted up a bit. They were perfect gentlemen. Thanks slashfilm.
Eric Bana On Losing Conciousness Nero Style
Eric Bana, who plays bad guy Romulan crazoid Nero in “Star Trek” opens up on some behind the scenes info, including a passionate display of apoplexy!
I’m curious about your movements in character. You’re very aggressive and strong, did you come up with any of those reactions and jumps yourself or was it all planned out?
Classic Trek: Kirk vs. the Lizard Man
Endy’s Onion post got me thinking about what made the Original Star Trek show so great. It’s scenes like this. Kirk vs. a man in a Lizard costume. It’s two minutes of hilarity, genius, and downright good times.
The Onion Puts Me In My Place
I might be taking this “Star Trek” movie a bit too seriously. The Onion reports on how Star Trek fans are outraged that our (my) beloved Sci-Fi fetish doesn’t suck, isn’t boring and features no nerdy bits that will make normal movie goers cross-eyed with fatal propeller-headed overload.
Yet Another Star Trek Trailer
Here’s another in the endless string of pre-release “Star Trek” trailers. I can only say that they surely must be confident that this movie is a winner. Overexposure is not their concern. This trailer has some new looks at engineering spaces within the great ship called Enterprise. Buy your tickets ahead of time kids.
In Depth Leonard Nimoy Interview
When TrekMovie calls the big guys answer it seems. Leonard Nimoy answers many burning questions about his thoughts on “Star Trek”, “Fringe” and his involvement with other projects as well as his thoughts on Big Bill and a ton of other stuff. Here’s a small look.
Burger King’s Star Trek Commercial
Because obviously nothing says “Star Trek” quite like Burger King. Right? Right? Ahem. I saw this commercial on TV and thought it was kinda cool, so here it is. J.J. Abrams’ Trek 11 reboot opens later this week on Friday, but then you probably already know that. Expect Trek toys with Burger King’s version of the Happy Meal. I don’t even know what they call it. Heh. He named his dog Tiberius.
