As a lifelong fan of all things “Farscape”, I consider it my duty to bring to you all things “Farscape”-related, even when they don’t necessarily, well, have anything to do with “Farscape”. But hey, you can’t get any more “Farscape”-related than the casting of the show’s male lead Ben Browder in a new “noir web series” from Paramount Digital called “Naught for Hire”. Browder will be playing a futuristic P.I. named Nick Naught, with the web series set for production sometime in early 2012. The series will be based on the character created by writer John E. Stith, who co-wrote the web series along with producer Jeffrey Berman. So what’s it all about? Imagine a future where artificial intelligence chips have been placed in everything mechanical or electronic but they have all been programmed by complete idiots. A world where answering machines talk back, digital watches lie, parking meters rip you off, bombs are bi-polar and technology in general is [...]

I’m not a big fan of Buck Rogers or anything, or at least, I really don’t know his history. But I am a pretty big fan of the old Gil Gerard TV show “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” when it ran for a few years in the late ’70s and early ’80s. That show was pretty cool, and I loved it as a child. (Or maybe it was all about Erin Gray? Could be, could be…) But it apparently diverted quite a bit from the original source material, which isn’t a surprise. Hard to be faithful when you’ve got a lot of episodes to fill up for a given TV year. In any case, someone name James Cawley is bringing the property back to its roots with a new series of web episodes. Check out a teaser trailer for it below. Via Trek Movie: James Cawley and his Cawley Entertainment Company plan to do with Buck Rogers, what he [...]

Who knew Dr. Horrible’s main squeeze Penny could get so sexy? If you’re a fan of Joss Whedon’s impossibly cool “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog ” web series, check out Penny herself (aka Felicia Day) in a music video called “Do you Wanna Date my Avatar”. The music video is written and directed by Jed Whedon, brother of Joss, and one of the creators of “Dr. Horrible”. The video is a tie-in with Day’s web series, “The Guild”, about a bunch of gaming misfits who, you know, sit at home playing online games, or something. Anyways, did I mention she’s got a great voice? Of course if you saw “Dr. Horrible” you already knew that. I think I’m in love.

If you don’t know the name Amanda Tapping, then you’re probably reading the wrong site. That having been said, Amanda Tapping has a new sci-fi/horror series coming out called “Sanctuary”, which I didn’t know about until someone asked her about it in an interview being hosted over at The Sci Fi World. (You can download the full interview by clicking here. BTW: It does look like Amanda WILL be replacing the Weir character on “Stargate: Atlantis” after all, news I didn’t know until now.) But anyways, back to “Sanctuary”… Here is Starlog’s write-up on the show: Stage 3 Media Inc., a Vancouver-based production company, today announced the debut of a teaser for SANCTUARY, its new science fiction web-episode series. SANCTUARY’s cast is led by internationally-recognized actor Amanda Tapping (STARGATE: SG-1). Created by veteran science fiction writer/producer Damian Kindler, the series also stars Robin Dunne (DAWSON’S CREEK) and Emilie Ullerup (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA). Kindler and Tapping serve as executive producers along with [...]
