Sargasso Planet Leads Us To NBC’s Day One

Day One is a nifty little Sci-Fi show starting this fall that features a group of people fighting to survive in an apartment complex after the aliens come and clean house. Now, a clever little website has sprouted up, getting all Fanboy over a television series that doesn’t exist but points you toward the Day One site on NBC.

SyFy Channel Releases Fall Premiere Dates

The SyFy Channel has officially unveiled their Fall premiere dates, including starting dates for a couple of hotly anticipated shows, including the latest entry in the Stargate franchise, the grittier, younger, sexier, more shaky cam-ier Universe. Via THR’s The Live Feed.

Stargate Universe – New series premieres October 2, 2009 @ 9 PM (2-hour premiere)

Pictures Of The Dapper New Doctor Who

Soon we will have a new Doctor traveling about and saving us from god knows what evil alien machinations. David Tennant is about to check out as number 10 and actor Matt Smith will appear next year as the eleventh good Doctor. The BBC has some cameras distantly filming the action in seaside Cardiff where the Doctor and his new assistant Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillian, have been seen outside of the TARDIS, striding on the rocky shore. The new season will not begin until next year and the old Doctor hasn’t even shuffled off yet (his final episodes will be shown this year) but I like the look of this new guy. Thanks Scifiwire and The Daily Mail for the scoop.

Sean Bean and his Game of Thrones

Sean Bean loves him some fantasy medieval type projects. THR reports that the former “Lord of the Rings” star has been cast as the lead in HBO’s new TV series, Game of Thrones, based on the series of George R. R. Martin fantasy novels called “A Song of Ice and Fire”. Bean will play Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark, the honorable Warden of the North and Lord of Winterfell, and who becomes closest adviser to King Robert, set to be played by Mark Addy.

Top Fifteen Must Be Answered LOST Questions For The UpComing Season

Entertainment Weekly had a vote and asked the probative question, “Top 3 Lost Mysteries You Absolutely Need to See Resolved in Season 6.” Instead of three they give us 15. As a massive fan of the show I completely concur on what must be revealed. My top three include Richard’s not aging, the Monster and the Egyptian thing. Obviously, some of the other questions, like who Jacob is, must be told or you wouldn’t be able to finish the story. I’d also like to know how the Black Rock made it to the island and the backstory for that.

EW Previews the Sci-Fi Movies at Comic Con ’09 with New Images

Entertainment Weekly is previewing a number of sci-fi movies (and one TV show, the SyFy Channel’s Stargate: Universe) that will be holding panels and making splashes at this year’s Comic Con, and have included new images from the movies/show in their preview. They include Shane Acker’s “9″, “Pandorum” with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster, and Stargate: Universe. In the article, they quote Universe producer Robert Cooper as saying this about the new show:

A Trace Amount Of Star Wars TV News

George Lucas takes his time. I’d like to say that he takes the time to get it right but I’d be stretching it. George certainly has some mad world building skills. A live television series is on George’s mind these days. He is making preparations, slowly. Soon I’m sure the news will be juicy and plentiful. But for now, we Sci-Fi bloggers must dig and harrass for every lucious drop of news.

Watch the First 7 Minutes of Torchwood: Children of Earth

From BBC America, comes the first 7 minutes from the Torchwood: Children of Earth mini-series. In one epic story told over five nights, Torchwood: Children of Earth re-joins Captain Jack (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) who are still coming to terms with the death of two of their closest friends. Despite their pain, they still have a job to do. This time they are faced with their fiercest threat to date – one that that puts the future of Torchwood and the entire human race spiraling into danger. They battle against the odds but do they stand a chance of saving mankind? More clips and vids over at the show’s BBC America site.

New cast promo images from the SyFy Channel’s upcoming Stargate: Universe TV show. There were a lot of pics of actors standing around, but these are the ones with them in character and on the set. They look better, or at least are worth posting. Check them out below.

Call The OrKin Man, Infestation Soon To Hit SyFy

Living as I do in the Great White North I am relatively unaccustomed to dealing with the bugs. I see an occasional bee. The only scourge of the insectoid kind we encounter way up here are the black flies, a horror too horrendous to describe.

ABC’s Sci-Fi Series Defying Gravity Early Look

Defying Gravity is a 13 hour summer run Sci-Fi series coming on ABC  in a two hour start on Aug 2. We’ve got the trailer and the big as holy hell press release detailing the “sexy” Sci-Fi action.

Volunteers To Simulate Post Apocalyptic Survival In The Outpost

Now this is my kind of reality television. In an upcoming reality show on Discovery called “The Outpost”, 10 ordinary folks, with a normal populations cross section of skills, will simulate a post apocalyptic URBAN environment for 10 weeks for our considerable enjoyment. These folks will get no special equipment and there won’t be running water or electricity. They must scrape from what remains in the simulated urban wasteland for what they need to prevent cannibalism. For added fun, a ruthless gang of road warrior types will lurk outside their decaying factory home to irrate and maybe murder them (kidding). Survivor can bite me, this is the real deal.

Stargate Universe Character Profile: Robert Carlyle as Nicholas Rush

Looks like the folks at the SyFy Channel will be doing a lot of character profiles for their upcoming Stargate: Universe show. First up is the show’s big and much lauded hire, big-screen actor Robert Carlyle, who talks about his character on the show. I get the feeling Carlyle’s Nicholas Rush is more a Mister Smith type ala Lost in Space. Anyways, listen to what he says about his character and the fanbase below.

Ratings for Warehouse 13 Premiere is Solid

I don’t plan to cover TV ratings very often, but it’s interesting to see how well (or not so well) some shows did in their premiere. Take SyFy Channel’s debut of Warehouse 13 earlier this week, for instance, which according to THR scored a solid 3.5 million viewers, making it the third best premiere for the cable network after Stargate: Atlantis and Eureka. THR stresses that this is good numbers for the show, which is good news for fans of Warehouse 13. I am one of those people, and will be watching it weekly. In case you missed it, you can read our review of the pilot episode here.

TV Review: Warehouse 13 Pilot

I must admit, I’ve been anxiously awaiting Warehouse 13 from the SyFy Channel. (Yes, the name change is now official. Let’s just get used to it, shall we?) Not because I think the show is going to break the mold, but because, well, it seems like ages since we’ve had a sci-fi show on TV, and Summer is looking bleak as all heck for the genre. So, thankfully Warehouse 13 has arrived last night with a 2-hour pilot episode, and I must admit – better than I expected, but also worst than I expected. What do I mean by that? I liked the characters and the set-up, but the Monster of the Week they chose for the pilot was, shall we say, stunk up the joint.
