Space, The Fishy Frontier?

After a bottle or two of Romulan ale, Sulu apparently took a wrong turn and drove the Enterprise into the deep end of someones pool. Will the shields hold?

Big Apple Quicktime Version Of Inception Trailer

This morning some dumb ass in an 18 wheeler rounded a curve near my house a wee bit too fast, overturned and obliterated an apparently important telephone pole, somehow crucial for many blocks of electricity delivery. So my power has been out and I’ve had the sweats. I live in Canada and yes, it’s cold. Power out in the city is a thought provoking thing.

Kai Blackwood’s Grey Skies Trailer Attacks

The guys over at QuietEarth have located the first trailer for Kai Blackwood’s sci-fi/horror movie “Grey Skies”. It’s your usual story: college buds go to an isolated cabin for the holiday and some drinking, pot smoking, and sex, only to end up confronted with a menace … from outer space!!!! It’s sort of like “The Thing”, minus Kurt Russell. And, er, snow. Check out a trailer for it below. Looks creepy, and could potentially be a pretty nice indie production to add to your collection of bad doing aliens.

How Denzel Washington Got Even Badder For The Book Of Eli

So after the fine, fine, pre-Xmas entertainment that was “Avatar”, we now turn our Sci-Fi attentions to the next big Sci-Fi flick coming our way in the form of  the grim, dusty, post enlightened civilization road movie, “The Book Of Eli”, starring our man Denzel Washington as a high plains drifter firm and fully packed with the skills and hardware required to lay down the law on all those radiated, diseased or just plain mal-adjusted enough to want to take what Denzel has sworn to protect.

Jude Law in a Bloody, Action-Packed Repo Men Trailer

So there’s this sci-fi movie called “Repo Men”, starring Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, and Liev Schreiber. From what I can tell, it looks like a pretty expensive, slick, big-budget sci-fi action movie, too. And, um, I didn’t know it existed until now. Go figure. Check out a red band trailer for “Repo Men”, which looks a lot like “Logan’s Run” with human organs. The film has Jude Law playing, from what I can tell, his first ever leading man role in what is a full blown action movie. No real method acting here, just pure sci-fi action and spraying blood. Lots of that in the future when you’re dealing with guys who repossesses human organs — by literally cutting them out of their “wearers”.

An International Trailer For Inception

It’s in French but that’s ok, turn the sound down because it is really, really good. There’s so much stuff in there it’s hard to pick a highlight but I’d go with the city curling up like paper deal or maybe the freight train going down the middle of the city street. How does that grab you Joey?

Mythbusters Investigates Captain Kirk’s Gorn Gun

Normally I’d be reluctant to admit this, but I’ve spent a completely abnormal amount of time considering the probability that Captain Kirk’s desert made diamond cannon in the episode “Arena” would have been more likely to kill the good Captain or simply to have fizzled out. Shortly thereafter of course our scaly friend Mr. Gorn would have eaten Kirk’s face, either in the pieces that were left on the ground or, while still attached to James after the Gorn had finished hunting and skinning him.

New Doctor Who: The End of Time Preview

“Doctor Who” fans have been waiting for more than a year for this, David Tennant’s swan song as he hands the reins over to Matt Smith. But it won’t be a peaceful handover, as The Master has been reborn on Christmas Eve and threatens humanity.

The Iron Man 2 Trailer Has Arrived

To hell with the preview of the preview, the maximum velocity “Iron Man 2″ trailer has hit the world and it’s ridiculous. I’m feeling some Rocky 3, Mr. T against a gone soft Rocky flavour here with Mickey Rourke playing the garage builder, chip on his shoulder Russian and Tony Stark gone even more Hollywood. You’re going to love it. Catch it for now in sweet HD via Apple.

Day Of The Triffids MiniSeries Preview Vids

BBC is once again mining that old school Sci-Fi magic with their remake of Day Of The Triffids. What’s it all about? Man eating plants! How great is that? After a solar storm, plants created to produce a new oil substitute break free of their human oppressors and begin to enthusiastically munch on the British.

Iron Man 2 Preview Preview With Some Added War Machine

Entertainment Tonight has a preview coming up tomorrow giving us the inside scoop on how “Iron Man 2″ is going to rock. If you’re like me, you went into the first Iron Man with low expectations. Obviously, I left the theatre loving it. Big shoes to fill for the second installment. I get the feeling that writers and directors know that audiences are expecting story and character in their super hero films. Judging from the preview, looks like we’re on track. So this is a preview of the preview. It has enough tasty bits in there to wet your whistle for the big one tomorrow that we’ll try to bring you. Thanks ComingSoon.

Watch an Extended Cut of SyFy’s Caprica Pilot Online Now

The folks at the SyFy Channel would like to get their audience really excited for their upcoming “Battlestar Galactica” spin-off TV show, “Caprica”, which is set to premiere early next year, January 22. The cable net has put all 90-ish minutes of the pilot online for free ahead of the show’s bow as part of their strategy (you can click on the link to go watch it now, or watch it in the embed below). Of course, that’s if you haven’t already seen the movie yet, which was already released on DVD nearly a year ago.

Drilling Too Deep Is Hazardous In OceanSize Animated Short

It’s animated short film day here on SciFiCool. Here we have another really good one about a crew of French parkour loving dudes manning a deep sea oil rig that drills into something that was best left sealed away in a very deep and dark place. It has subtitles so you’re safe, at least from the French.  Thanks Io9.

Passengers Animated Short Is A Dark And Stormy Night With Goldfish

I watched it. I laughed. It’s really good. I have no idea why the Goldfish was in the bag, or who left the Goldfish there. What the music had to do with the whole sordid affair I have no idea. All I know is that Chris Jones spent 8 years putting this thing together completely all by himself. He even did the music. That it makes no sense is not really the point. Like I said, it’s really funny and Chris deserves 7 minutes of your time after 8 years of work. So please push play.

Nic Cage Wants to Teach You the Ways of the Force. Er, Sorcery.

I have to admit, this trailer for “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is a lot cooler than I thought it would be. Then again, it could just be the melding of techno music with all that sorcery happening onscreen. Nicolas Cage actually looks decent in the role, but there’s one thing the movie misses out on — it neglects to show us the va-va-vooming Monica Bellucci, who co-stars in the movie. Really, guys, when you have someone as gorgeous as Monica Bellucci in your movie, what are you doing NOT showing her? For shame, for shame.
