Matt Smith, Holly Earl, Maurice Cole, and Claire Skinner in DOCTOR WHO 2011 Christmas Special

So what, this “Doctor Who” Christmas Special takes place outside of “Doctor Who” continuity? Cause the last time we saw the good Doctor, he sure didn’t look ready to save anyone. Whatever the case, check out the trailer for the latest Doctor Who Christmas special, called “The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe”. Gee, I wonder what that’s in reference to?

First Trailer for Lockout, aka Taken Meets Escape from New York in Outer Space

Guy Pearce in Lockout (2012) Movie Image

Well, if you needed a Snake Plissken to save your daughter, and Snake isn’t available, I guess you could do worst than getting Guy Pearce of “Memento” fame to do the work. That’s basically the premise of “Lockout”, which finds Pearce playing a convict who makes a deal to save the daughter of the President of the United States from a space prison that’s been taken over by the convicts. Maggie Grace, further connecting the film to the whole “Taken” vibe, plays the kidnapped daughter.

New, Action-Packed Trailer for John Carter of Mars

Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins in John Carter of Mars (2012) Movie Image

Or, well, “John Carter” as we should start calling it now, as the whole “of Mars” part seems to have been officially dropped from the movie title altogether. I think that’s kind of idiotic myself, but whatever, I’m not some highly-paid Hollywood studio bigwig. What do I know. Anyways, here’s the new, much better looking trailer for “John Carter”, which made its premiere on, of all places, ABC News. The better, official version should pop up online later this week or thereabouts.

Teaser Trailer For Fan-Made Short Film Transformers: The Last Energon Crystal

Transformers The Last Energon Crystal Image

You gotta give it to these would-be filmmakers who like a movie franchise so much they decided to invest their own money to make a short fan film. Check it out below.

Trailer and Behind-the-Scenes Look for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne Johnson in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) Movie Image

For those not in the know, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is the sequel to 2008′s hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. Brendan Fraser was the star of that one, but he’s taken a flyer on the sequel (stupid move, Brendan), and only Josh Hutcherson returns for the second time around. He’s joined by The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson), and this time the source of adventure is Jules Verne’s “mysterious island”. Here’s the first trailer and a behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming family sci-fi movie.
