I gotta admit, I’m really, really looking forward to this 2-hour “Smallville” movie “Absolute Justice”, and I’m the guy who gave up on the current season of “Smallville” after the uber useless Green Arrow failed to take out two very ordinary thugs in an alleyway fistfight and had to wait for Superman to rescue him on a rooftop. But man, I gotta say, the movie is looking pretty good, and I’m digging how they’re introducing the Justice Society of America characters, including Michael Shanks as Hawkman. I still don’t “get” how a bunch of brightly costumed guys with superpowers, including a dude with wings and a big ol mace managed to get “lost” in history, but I suppose that will be explained in the movie. Hopefully.

Trailer For Post Apocalyptic Animated A.D.
I think it’s high time we moved Zombies over to the animated world. I’ve seen more than my share of what live action Zombies can do to fleshy, breathing humans. It’s time C.G.I. people learned to share in the pain of getting a good chomping or the pleasure of taking your Mom’s garden hoe and inserting it edgewise between the hemispheres of your typical garden Zombie.
First Teaser Trailer For Irish Comedy ZONAD
Here’s a little piece or tease for the upcoming comedy Sci-Fi? “ZONAD”. The bit I just saw is funny enough for me to want to share it with you, my Sci-Fi buddies. It’s directed by John Carney and stars David Murray and Simon Delaney (Zonad, himself) Not sure when we’ll get to see it, only that I want to. Thanks Quiet Earth for the tip.
The Phantom Menace Reviewer Takes A Crack Or Two At Avatar
By now (I hope) you’ve seen the wonderful and delicious review of “The Phantom Menace” by Mike from Milwaukee. In it, Mike expertly and hilariously surgically dissects “The Phantom Menace” and George Lucas in particular. After millions of views and a future promise to review more of the latest Star Wars trilogy, Mike is taking a bit of time off to review “Avatar”. It’s another wonderful piece of work. It’s a bit less elaborate but very funny and bang on. Obviously these reviews of Mikes take some time to do. Hard to pound one of these puppies out the week after a screening. More please.
Watch The First 4 Minutes of Lost Season 6 Now
Someone has put the first four minutes of “Lost” Season 6 online now. I know there are plenty of “Lost” fans out there, so here you go. The show returns to the airwaves Tuesday, February 2, 2010. I’m sure there will be many answers to lingering questions, and about 100 new questions to be answered. That’s how “Lost” operates, right?
Another Smallville Absolute Justice Promo Shows off the JSA
“Smallville’s” 2-hour movie “Absolute Justice” premieres next month on February 5, 2010, but until then here’s another 30-second TV spot. This is actually the first promo that I’ve seen that shows off the Justice Society of America characters, including a couple of very juicy shots of “Stargate’s” Michael Shanks as Hawkman. The JSA Hawkman, apparently, talks to his mace. Huh.
Justice League Crisis on Two Earths Action-tastic Clip
This is basically what every comic book geek lives for — superpowered people going at it full-speed ahead. Check out one action-packed clip from DC’s upcoming “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” direct-to-DVD movie. One hopes the rest of the movie will be just as action-packed. This is animation, after all, the possibilities for superpowered fights are endless and only limited by the imagination of the writers.
Hilarious Edit Of Star Wars Opening Screen Crawl
I don’t mean to be mean to George Lucas, really. I mean after all, we wouldn’t have the obvious sublime awesomeness of the original three “Star Wars” movies without George. I’m not sure now how much creative input he actually had in those movies since the last three films looked like they were made by a completely different person, but I’m ready to say that without George, no Han, no Yoda, no Wookie.
BBC Post Apocalyptic Drama Survivors
British television and especially British Sci-Fi is great. They like to tell the story first and aren’t all that concerned with that high gloss finish we see over here in North America in our Sci-Fi fare. The lack of gloss could be attributed to a lack of budget as well but with less money comes a greater emphasis on story.
Inside The Making Of Avatar Video
Now that “Avatar” is firmly established as the technical movie making achievement that it is, you’re probably curious about how the whole thing came together. This 23 minute video of behind the scenes geekage will probably be featured on the Blu-Ray release. Inside the video we find nifty info on the motion capture, actor prep, weapons, costumes, hell you name it. Lots of interviews and it’s ok, James is civil. It’s pretty cool and worth the time. Thanks Scifiwire for the tip.
A New Clip For Splice Showcases Maggoty Romance
“Splice” is a little Sci-Fi horror film coming out shortly that was assembled by none other than Guillermo del Toro, a man of many monsters. It stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as two propeller-heads that gene splice creatures together to see what horrid abominations they can birth into the world from their cold test tubes.
Duke Nukem Forever Movie Teaser Trailer? Probably Not.
More likely a couple of kids got together and came up with this little “movie teaser trailer” starring everyone’s favorite alien-blasting FPS from the ’90s. The YouTube page where the vid is posted calls it a “teaser trailer” for a “Duke Nukem Forever” movie from HMCIndie, but I haven’t heard anything about it. It also looks like they shot the whole thing in Russia somewhere. See for yourself.
When A Door Opens On The Enterprise, Somewhere A Russian Toilet Flushes Happily
Visual effects people get all the loving. The fast cars, the pretty girls and all the bling for the Hollywood scene just rains down on them. While the visual effects people are lounging by the pool, waiting for the days and days it takes to render their splashy neon pew pew on your latest Sci-Fi epic, the sounds dudes are crammed into Russian trains, clacking along into the frozen yak filled steppes, recording toilets flushing.
First Footage From Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Yamato was my first manga. You know you never forget your first. I encountered it when visiting my Uncle and Aunt in the big city many moons ago. I could only see it again when I visited them. I could not freakin believe my eyes. I had to be pried kicking and screaming back to the stone ages where I lived. Oh man, the pain of being a Nerd in a family of non Nerds living in rural Canada in the 70′s. I just about starved to death in a manner of speaking.
Star Wars And A-Team Video Mashup: A Possible Sneak Peek At The New Live Action Series?
Oh, please god, don’t let George see this. This is a wickedly executed A-Team and Star Wars video mashup that is perfectly done and also, perfectly cheesy. If George sees it, I’m certain he’ll feel compelled to be ah, influenced by it.
