Will Robert Downey Jr. Ditch The Armour For The Cape To Play The Vampire Lestat?

The Sci-Fi magic eight ball says yes. Bloody Disgusting has apparently confirmed the report that Mr. Downey is in talks to appear in a probably rebooted “Interview With A Vampire” as Lestat Du Lioncort, the smooth and sophisticated vampire from the famous Ann Rice series, for Universal. Once again Sting gets the shaft.

Predators To Get Underway Sept 28

We knew that we had the excellent news that the gone stale Predator series was getting the reboot but I had no idea that Robert Rodriquez, producer of the film and juggler of many projects, was going to make it happen so quickly. We have learned that filming for “Predators”, the new and I’m confident far spiffier creature feature being directed by Nimród Antal, will hit film on Sept 28th.

Two New Avatar Images

Can’t get enough of James Cameron’s “Avatar”? Here are two new images from the upcoming sci-fi epic posted on Icelandic website www.kvikmyndir.is. One is of Sam Worthington and the other is James Cameron on the set doing what directors do.

District 9 (2009) Movie Review

By rights, “District 9″ should probably have bypassed theaters and gone directly to On Demand cable tv and dvd. It features a cast of relative unknowns, an untested director, and a modest $30 million dollar budget. And so “District 9″ failed to be the hyper publicized escapism that so many of its’ top grossing predecessor’s had. Instead, a miracle occurred; “District 9″ triumphed and shone as daringly original film that at times will make you want to stand up and cheer.

New Stargate: Universe Short Gets Into Character

There’s a nifty new SGU short out and about that has interviews with the new cast explaining what exactly makes them tick. There is some new footage from the first episode as well, all dark and edgy with a considerable amount of panicky civilians and shouting soldier types.

Milla Jovovich in The Fourth Kind Trailer

I believe there is life “out there”, but I don’t believe in alien abductions. Why? Because I don’t see the point in aliens abducting thousands upon thousands of human beings to test. And, er, anal probe. But hey, maybe the new Milla Jovovich sci-fi thriller “The Fourth Kind” will change my mind.

John Carpenter on Barbarella? Heigl, Alba, or Miller to Star?

Will horror master John Carpenter come down from his horror perch to helm the long-gestating, oft-delayed remake of “Barbarella”? That’s the story currently being pedaled by British tabloid The Sun. On the face of it, it’s not so “out there”, as Carpenter has already directed sci-fi before, most recently the horror-sci-fi hybrid “Ghosts of Mars”.

Microsoft Sorta Debunks Spielberg-Halo Movie Rumor

You know, I’ve played the Halo game before, and I don’t get why it’s so popular. It looked and felt like a generic sci-fi-themed first-person shooter to me, except you can drive a dune buggy around blasting enemies. Other than that, I really don’t see anything special about it, or why people are clamoring for a movie version. That said, Microsoft has now responded to rumors of Steven Spielberg possibly coming onboard to produce the long-stalled “Halo” movie.

Buddy Holly Is Alive And Well On Ganymede

Buddy Holly is alive and well and living on the largest moon in the solar system? He’s living on a moon of Jupiter? Cool beans. Alas, it’s all fiction. Jon Heder, or Napoleon Dynamite to most, has landed the role of Oliver Vale in the adaptation of Bradley Denton’s Sci-Fi comedy about a dude trying to figure out why a presumed dead Buddy Holly is screwing with his life.

Bryan Singer to Direct a Battlestar Galactica Movie with Larson?

Well this should make a lot of our readers happy. The last time I posted about a “Battlestar Galactica” movie based on the old show (and not the Sci Fi Channel reboot) with original director Glen A. Larson attached, a lot of fans made their voices known that they would dig it. Now comes word that Bryan Singer may end up directing that relaunch.

Red Band Trailer For Legion Has Melted My Forebrain

It’s all brain-stem all the time after watching the, oh not for those under 18, red-band crazy “Legion” trailer. In “Legion”, Paul Bethany along with Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Doug Jones, Charles S. Dutton and Lucas Black pound on each other in angelic end of the world awesomeness.

Sci-Fi Cinema Obscura: Brainstorm

Brainstorm (1983)-Scificool.com
Welcome to the second edition of Cinema Obscura. Today we will be taking a look at an oldie but goodie called Brainstorm (1983), starring Christopher Walken.

The Basics

Vin Diesel Updates His Facebook Page With Riddick News

Science Fiction movies that you can remember for more then a couple of years are rare. A movie will attract your attention as it is hyped, entertain you moderately at the theatre and then pass into the general cloud of Sci-Fi history. Maybe you pick up the DVD in 8 months or if it was a bomb, a couple. For me, “Pitch Black”, starring Vin Diesel, was different.

Zombieland’s Video Guides For Surviving The Zompocalypse

The end is inevitable. Whether it be by the brushed metallic hands of ruthless robotic assassins or by the putrid and decaying grasping claws of the recently deceased, it’s only a matter of time before grandma gets it.

Full Astro Boy Trailer Features: Machine Guns In His Butt

Those are five English words I never thought I’d string together. But this is Sci-Fi pilgrims and it isn’t always pretty. “Astro Boy” opens Oct 23rd and recounts the tale of a robot created by a grieving scientist to replace his dead son. Astro Boy is considered the first manga series and originated all the way back in 1952 by the god of manga, Osamu Tezuka.
