The film, which finds fve young people stranded in Moscow and fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack by some energy type creatures, stars Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella, Olivia Thirlby, Joel Kinnaman, and is directed by Chris Gorak.
Vin Diesel and David Twohy’s “Riddick” is heating up. (That would be “Pitch Black 3″ or “The Chronicles of Riddick 2″ FYI.)
The latest casting rumors on the film has offers going out to Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (of “Battlestar Galactica” fame), Bokeem Woodbine and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista. Ahem, sorry, I mean, WWE superstar Dave Bautista. That’s like the official title for those wrasslin’ guys, right?
Yikes. It looks like a Hollywood live-action version of “Akira” will happen after all. Who would have thunk it? After lots of starts and stops and more starts and stops, the film is finally gearing up for production with a director and now, star.
When you think sci-fi dystopian society, you of course think … Vanity Fair? Sure, why not. The magazine recently gathered up the kids of Gary Ross’ upcoming “The Hunger Games” and had them stand around posing for pictures. You can see the results below.
So yeah, they might really happen after all. Vulture reports that the studio is very keen on making the sequels back-to-back, and while the two films will form a single coherent story, they can also be viewed as stand-alone films. Not sure how that’s going to work, but that’s what they’re saying.
Eight whopping character posters for Lionsgate’s upcoming sure-to-be spectacular “The Hunger Games” franchise. That is, unless Gary Ross royally screws it up, then I take back my sure-to-be spectacular comment. I don’t think so, though. Gary Ross is one hell of a good director. Great, even.
The Russian-based, Hollywood-produced alien invasion flick “The Darkest Hour” has gotten itself a new groovy looking poster. Check it out below, people who enjoy checking out new groovy movie posters.
Now if only Summit Entertainment will actually make it. Sorry if I’m a little pessimistic. After all, people have been telling me that an “Ender’s Game” movie is on the way for the last two decades or so, and it hasn’t happened yet.
Self-professed original “Battlestar Galactica” fan John Orloff will be scripting Bryan Singer’s “Battlestar Galactica” movie, the director’s feature film based on the original TV show, not the recent and critically acclaimed Ron Moor reboot.

The great thing about George Lucas’ “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” is just how clunky it made even great actors like Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson look while reciting those Godawful lines of dialogue. I mean, listen to Jackson in this trailer for the 3D re-release. It’s like he’s choking on a rock while having to read George’s lines! Awesome.
Sorry, haters of the American “Akira” — it ain’t dead yet. In fact, it’s very much alive, with Variety reporting that Warner Bros. has officially given the greenlight to the movie, with an early 2012 start date on the horizon.
I love 1997′s “Starship Troopers”. Didn’t care all that much for 2004′s cheapie sequel “Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation”, though it had its moments. Didn’t even bother to watch 2008′s “Starship Troopers 3: Marauder”.

Or so says Bryan Singer to SFX Magazine. The director confirms that although his remake of “Excalibur” is dead in the water, he still plans to develop his version of BSG based on the ’70s TV show and not the gritty and need-to-take-a-shower-after-every-episode Ron Moore reboot.
