Jay And Seth Versus The Apocalypse Update

Jay and Seth are none other than those two hooligans Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel. Seth is famous for “Knocked Up”, “Superbad” and a metric whack ton of other great films. Jay was also in “Knocked Up” and is soon to be seen sans body in the animated “How To Train Your Dragon”.

James Cameron is King of the World … Except in China

He’s the director of the biggest movie hit of all time, and he’s about to follow that up with, well, the biggest movie hit of all time (again), but that’s not gonna cut it in China. Never one to be shy about exerting their muscle and showing some homegrown love, the Chinese government has decided to yank “Avatar” from 1,628 2D screens this week in favor of the Chow Yun Fat biopic “Confucius”. The reasons? A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Mostly, it’s China, baby.

Daybreakers (2010) Movie Review

There are some films that you instantly fall in love with, that will forever hold a place in your heart, even when watching a chopped up version on G4. Then there’s films you fall in love with, want to marry and have children with, with eventually retire to a condo in Florida while fondly musing what a sequel could hold. “Daybreakers” falls squarely in the latter category, a film that will have you dialing 411 in search of a wedding planner moments after exiting the theater.

D.J. Caruso to Direct the Michael Bay-Produced I am Number Four

Number Four has gotten himself a director, and it’s D.J. Caruso, the man behind “Disturbia” and “Eagle Eye”, both starring Shia LaBeouf, which makes you wonder if Dreamworks is looking at nabbing LaBeouf for the starring role as well. Just wondering. The movie will be based on the young-adult science fiction book by James Frey and Joby Hughes, and is the first installment in a six-novel series. Michael Bay has been attached to the film from the very beginning, and for a time it seemed like he might also direct. With “Transformers 3″ gearing up, that apparently proved impossible, and so the directing duties have now gone to Caruso.

The Office With Aliens In Drones

“Drones” is being described as televisions The Office gene spliced with “The Day The Earth Stood Still” but for some reason it looks like a perfectly normal day, at where I work anyway. “Drones” is a Sci-Fi movie about to premiere at the SlamDance film festival in Utah. You’ve got some very funny people from Freaks and Geeks, Buffy, Firefly, you name it. They’re all packed in to this story about aliens come to decide when Earth should get popped like a balloon while simultaneously surviving office romance. Looks good. Here’s the office press release, or at least the part I think you’ll read before pressing play. Thanks to Scifiwire for the tippage.

Wanna see what the “Predators” set looks like? Wonder no more. Someone snapped some pics from the set and uploaded them to the AvPGalaxy Forums. More pics here.

According to Jay Baruchel (“How To Train Your Dragon”, “Knocked Up”, “Sorcerers Apprentice”) Theresa Palmer has been cast as the main chick in George Miller’s “Mad Max 4: Fury Road” with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Jay and Theresa are in “Sorcerers Apprentice” together. During an event for “How To Train Your Dragon” Jay spilled the beans for Theresa.

Mark Strong In Final Talks To Play Sinestro In Green Lantern

These are the good days career wise for Mark Strong, lastly seen as Lord Blackwood in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” opposite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Mark is filming “John Carter Of Mars” as we speak and will soon play Sir Godfrey in “Robin Hood” with Russell Crowe. Life is good and so is Mark. The word is now that Mr. Strong is in final talks for the primary bad guy in “Green Lantern” with Ryan Reynolds, directed by Martin Campbell of “Casino Royale” and “Edge Of Darkness” fame. The early word was that Jackie Earle Haley was going to land Sinestro, but now, according to MTV Splash Page and Martin Campbell himself, it’s nearly a done deal for Mark.

Christopher Nolan Spills Beans On Inception Plot

So much for all the secrecy surrounding the plot of Christopher Nolan’s “Inception”. Chris sat down or was likely phone jumped by the good lads over at the L.A. Times where he basically gives it all up. Chris says things that I will not attempt to paraphrase for you. Instead, let’s just let him unburden himself in quotations.

Olivia Wilde On TRON: Legacy

You mostly know Olivia Wilde from her weekly duels with Gregory House on “House”. Soon you’ll get to know her in that very special Sci-Fi way as she dons a skin tight light suit for the Xmas release of “TRON: Legacy” with Jeff Bridges. Scifiwire quizzed Olivia on some inner TRON bits and while she didn’t reveal any goods, she was quite a tease:

Rabid fans of AMC’s Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston as a father who learns he has lung cancer and decides to provide for his family after his possible death by manufacturing crystal meth (he’s a chemistry teacher by day), will be thrilled and breathless after reading this sentence to learn that Mr. Cranston has joined the pretty awesome cast of Andrew (Pixar God) Stanton’s “John Carter Of Mars”.

James Bond to Play Cowboys and Aliens?

Well, this is a howdy-do. With Robert Downey Jr. having jumped ship on the Jon Favreau sci-fi/Western “Cowboys and Aliens”, the trades are saying James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is now in negotiations to take over the role vacated by RDJ. That role is of a Wild West gunslinger named Zeke Jackson, who teams up with some local Apaches to resist some alien invaders intent on enslaving the Arizona populace. The film will be based on the comic book created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
