No idea what the “Dragon Age” games are, or what they’re all about, but apparently Felicia Day is writing and starring in a 6-episode web series for “Dragon Age II”, and since Felicia Day is one of those “must post” babes, so here’s your first look at her. USA Today fills us in on the game: Already well-known to video-game fans as the creator of Web comedy series The Guild about online game players, the actress has written and stars in a new Web series, Dragon Age: Redemption, based in the world of BioWare’s role-playing Dragon Age game franchise. Day’s six-episode run, due to hit the Web this year, is set in Ferelden, the same fantasy land in which 2009′s Dragon Age: Origins and the upcoming sequel Dragon Age II play out. In the Tolkienesque sword-and-sorcery adventure game, several races join forces to combat a scourge called the Darkspawn (think of them as cousins to the orcs in The Lord [...]

I gotta admit, of all the game releases, the “Halo” boys always seem to put out the best trailers out there. They’re always expensive, slick, and live-action, giving you a taste of what a “Halo” movie could be if someone finally got their shit together and actually got it made. Well, this latest “Halo: Reach” trailer isn’t nearly as cool as the previous ones, but it’s still pretty well-done despite not showing a heck of a lot. In “Halo: Reach,” players experience the fateful moments that forged the “Halo” legend. It’s the story of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers, and their final stand on planet Reach, humanity’s last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth. This darker story is echoed by grittier visuals amid a backdrop of massive, awe-inspiring environments. Characters, enemies and environments are rendered in amazing detail by an all-new engine designed to deliver epic-scale encounters against the cunning and ruthless Covenant. Saving [...]

Not a particularly big fan of the game franchise, but I really dig all these “Halo” TV commercials that they’ve made and run over the years. They look like mini sci-fi movies to me, and everytime I see one, I don’t want to run out to by an XBOX to play “Halo”, I want to run to the movie theater to see a full-length flick based on it. Here’s the latest “Halo” commercial, “Birth of a Spartan”. It’s for the new “Halo” title, “Halo: Reach”, a multiplayer game available next month. And here’s an earlier one in case you didn’t see it, for “Halo: OSDT”, which I found really haunting and just cool.

Many of you Sci-Fi citizens, like me, get frustrated that we’re not living the life that constantly floats around in our imaginations. Watching or reading good or even bad Sci-Fi can be torture sometimes. I do not live on Coruscant or Naboo. I don’t have a Minority Report style computer interface nor can I jack into a Gibson flavoured Matrix. In fact, here where I am, perched upon the shores of the angry North Atlantic, I’m about to get pounded by an old school Hurricane named Bill and will most likely be living the powerless life for a few days. It’ll be candles and tuna fish for this guy for a bit I think. I’ve been following Bioware and Lucas Art’s “Star Wars: The Old Republic” for some time now. The Old Republic is a massively multiplayer game obviously set in the Star Wars universe and looks awesome and fresh. I’ve played a ton of fantasy themed MMOGs and had [...]

The latest “Aliens vs. Predator” game is on its way to the next-gen console, and if the original games are any indication, we’re in for a balls-to-the-walls action gaming title with plenty of atmosphere and more than a little heart-pounding thrills. Like the previous games, you’ll get to choose your species of choice. So what will it be? Human, alien, or Predator?
Wait just a second while I pull my eyeballs back from the center of my cerebral cortex. I have just seen the best game trailer of all time. “Star Wars: The Old Republic” is an upcoming massively multi-player game from the great Bioware. This game will be a replacement for the disasterous Galaxies, a game I played for completely unreasonable periods of time, especially considering how bad it was. I was a Wookiee though and I grew greatly attached to the big furry fella. The Old Republic is supposed to be a different kind of massively. It’ll have all the big content of WoW plus a much more story driven experience. These will be stories with lightsabers and attached to a level of epicness no other creative universe can duplicate. I might as well plan my post divorce life now. Star Wars: The Old Republic is deep in production and I assure you that Bioware will not release it until [...]

Let’s face it, games based on Hollywood movies have always been iffy at best. When they’re based on a summer event film, the chances of finding a good one in the bunch are pretty slim. Every now and then you stumble across one worth playing. For instance, I thought the first “Riddick” game was very well done, although the less said about all those games based on Marvel’s recent comic book movies, the better. When the first “Transformers” movie came out, there was also an accompanying game, so as the sequel is scheduled to come out, it, too, has its own game ready to roll. Check out the trailers for it below and decide for yourself if this is worth buying. Transforming cars are just too cool to past up, don’t you think? Even if the gameplay isn’t quite up to snuff, you can’t help but feel a little giddy driving around and just transforming for no apparently reason. At [...]

The funny thing about the “Transformers” game is, um, how do you tell it apart from the movie? After all, aren’t they both using pretty much the same CG images? So aside from the humans, aren’t the game and the movie pretty much the same thing? Anyways. I’ve actually played the first “Transformers” game, and although thought it was mildly interesting, never played it a second time. It was okay, but not exactly addictive, even though I was a major fan of the movie. They are, of course, tying the sequel to a new game, so check out some screenshots of it below. “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” the videogame will arrive at your local stores on June 23, a day before the movie itself opens. It will be available for Xbox 360, PS2 and 3, Windows PC, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and the PSP. Basically, if you have a gaming console, you can play this game.
Games that accompany movie releases have a mixed history. Most uncontrollably suck. There are exceptions, such as the Riddick game, where a game company can fire together something good in the shorter development cycle. Games worth playing usually take more than a couple of years to make. In the case of “Terminator Salvation: The game”, we are privileged to have an iconic Sci-Fi enemy to run from as we scream from wrecked car to exploding barrel, guns blazing, followed by our arms and legs strewn akimbo as large caliber weapon fire reduces us to a twitching, red and pulpy mass. Below is both the cinematic trailer for the game, underlining the desperation of the human situation, followed by some gameplay, where we see how you yourself will get to man the guns that deliver the message to those red eyed, titanium toothed killers. We’ll be back! Thanks SciFiWire.
