Love them or hate them (but apparently it’s more of the former), George Lucas has added a few more million to his bank account. And of course by “a few” we mean $84 million in just one week of Blu-ray sales for his just-released “Star Wars” saga on Blu-ray Here’s George crowing about it: Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today that STAR WARS is the bestselling catalog Blu-ray Disc of all time with worldwide sales totaling one million units, including 515,000 units sold in North America in its first week alone. This represents $84 million in worldwide consumer spend including $38 million in North America – unprecedented for a nine-disc Blu-ray collection at a premium price. The thirteen-month campaign to launch the SAGA Blu-ray and engage consumers around the globe began in August 2010. From Darth Vader at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a first look at San Diego Comic Con, a first-of-its-kind partnership with [...]

Admittedly, I was a little disappointed with the Brothers Strause’s “Skyline”. It had its moments, but overall, I really expected more out of it. Oh well, maybe the sequel will be better? So what are the chances of a sequel? Not bad, actually. Made for $10 million (“low budget” in Hollywood terms), the film has grossed over $65 million worldwide, with $43 million of that coming from overseas. In my book, when your movie grosses six-times what you put into making it, that’s a hit. Or at least, a pretty good excuse to make a sequel. Until then, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing the film on Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Download and On-Demand on March 22, 2011. Cover art and specs below. It was supposed to be a simple birthday weekend in Southern California. But when sunrise arrives two hours early in the form of a haunting light from an unknown source, a group of friends watch in terror [...]
