Ahead of their October 13th DVD & Blu Ray release of Richard Stanley’s 1990 sci-fi epic “Hardware”, the fine folks over at Severin Films have produced a new promo video featuring Lemmy of Motörhead. In the video, Lemmy recreates his cameo role from the movie as a cab driver recalling nostalgic memories from the past as he drives through a now dystopian wasteland.
It was the movie that stunned audiences, shocked the MPAA and marked the debut of one of the most uncompromising filmmakers in modern horror. Golden Globe® winner Dylan McDermott (The Practice, Dark Blue) stars as a post-apocalyptic scavenger who brings home a battered cyborg skull for his metal-sculptor girlfriend. But this steel scrap contains the brain of the M.A.R.K. 13, the military’s most ferocious bio-mechancial combat droid. It is cunning, cruel, and knows how to reassemble itself. Tonight, it is reborn…and no flesh shall be spared. Stacey Travis (GHOSTWORLD) co-stars – along with appearances by Iggy Pop, Lemmy [...]

Oh, that rascal Lex Luthor. One day he’s CEO of his own diabolical corporation and the next he’s President of the United States. Then he goes and frames Superman for some impending disaster, and somehow Batman gets involved, as does everyone else in the D.C. universe. That’s the plot of “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” in a nutshell, which will be based on a story by comic scribe Jeph Loeb.
“Superman/Batman” is the latest movie in D.C.’s line of direct-to-DVD animated movies, following in the footsteps of “Green Lantern: First Flight”, “Wonder Woman”, and in my opinion, the best of the bunch, “Justice League: Final Frontier”.
“Superman/Batman” is due out on DVD September 29, 2009, and will feature the voice talents of Jerry O’Connell, John C. McGinley, Allison Mack, Kevin Conroy, Clancy Brown, CCH Pounder, Robert Patrick, Michael Dorn, Tim Daly, LeVar Burton, Ricardo Chavira, Thomas F. Wilson. Sam Liu directs.

The film stars Amy Acker and is a medieval swords-and-sandals fantasy, complete with dragons. But let’s face it, having Amy Acker in it was all we needed to here.
Ruled by the mighty King Augustin, Carpia is a peaceful kingdom in a fantasy world inhabited by dragons, knights and magical forces. The land’s serenity is unexpectedly shattered by a Fire Dragon rising from a faraway land whose rampage spreads almighty fear and death amongst the kingdom’s innocent people.
In order to save her subjects from terror, the daring princess Luisa asks Gabriel, the son of a legendary dragon slayer, for help. Together, they must free the Ice Dragon, the only creature who can defeat the monster that brings destruction upon their kingdom. But soon their saviour will become their worst enemy.

In 1994, a movie called “Stargate” changed the face of science fiction. Fifteen years and six-hundred television/home video spin-offs later, Fox Home Entertainment has brought forth “Stargate: Atlantis – Fans Choice” to Blu-ray in a very barebones release. The disc contains “Rising,” the pilot episode for “Stargate: Atlantis” and the series finale, “Enemy At The Gate” from Season Five.
In “Rising (2004)” we are treated to both cameos from “Stargate” alumni Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks as well as the beginning of a new adventure. A new code is cracked, leading a band of Stargate travelers to the legendary lost city of Atlantis (wait, I thought it was a continent — oh, well). Naturally, it looks like it’ll be a one-way trip and the personnel will have to fend for themselves once there unless they can find the proverbial “rare commodity” — in this case a few spare Zero Point Modules to power up the sunken [...]

Severin Films would like you to find out, and they’ve released a DVD cover art for a new, remastered version (supposedly from Stanley’s personal print of the film) along with DVD specs due out September 29th. Via Twitch.

FOX is still keeping mum on whether it’s going to renew Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse for a second season or not, and at this point, well, it’s not looking so good, Whedon fans. But whether Dollhouse comes back or not, the first full season of the show will be arriving on DVD and Blu-ray on July 28 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, and we have the cover and full specs for the disk set below.
From Joss Whedon, the creative mastermind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, comes the provocative Dollhouse, a sexy, suspenseful thriller starring the stunningly talented Eliza Dushku. As an “Active,” the mysterious Echo (Dushku) serves as an unwitting agent of Dollhouse, an illegal underground organization that provides its elite clientele with programmable human beings. Actives receive personality imprints, allowing them to temporarily become anyone or anything—the perfect burglar, lover, spy, or assassin.
James Caviezel’s “Outlander” didn’t really get a whole lot of respect when it was released in a limited number of theaters earlier this year, but for my money, it was a pretty decent re-interpretation of the Beowulf legend. Okay, so adding the whole spaceman component made it more than a “re-interpretation”, but if you happen to dig the whole Beowulf stuff and sci-fi at the same time, how could you go wrong?
In a story described by reviewers as Beowulf meets Predator, a spacecraft crash-lands in ancient Norway, bringing with it a bloodthirsty alien beast. As the creature ravages the Viking world, one soldier, the only surviving member of his clan, attempts to form an alliance with two warring Viking tribes, combining advanced technology with Iron Age weaponry to hunt the beast before it can destroy them all.
If you missed the film when it was finally put out in limited release after a long delay, I would recommend catching it [...]

Now you may be asking yourself, “What? Who wants 177 minutes of ‘Waterworld’? The 136 minutes version is more than enough for me, thank you very much!” Well if you said that, then you’re probably not a fan of the movie. Fortunately for both of us, I am. Yes, I liked “Waterworld”. I don’t care what anyone says, but I thought the Kevin Costner movie had its moments. At least, until they got kind of nuts with all the jet ski stunts and what have you. But for the most part, I dug the film’s world, and liked how they shot the entire thing on water. It was a movie with a pretty good idea, but somewhere along the way, it sort of got corny and kind of cartoonish. Thanks, Dennis Hopper!
Anyways, for fans like myself, Universal Home Entertainment will be releasing a new, extended DVD version of “Waterworld” November 4, 2008. The disk will come with both the theatrical [...]

Joss Whedon’s fan favorite Firefly TV show never made it past its first season on FOX. Heck, it never really had much of a chance, what with FOX being, well, FOX. The show did prove to have enough fan momentum that it convinced the Powers That Be to greenlight a movie version, but the movie didn’t exactly do gangbuster business, which means a sequel is highly unlikely. Whedon himself has said as much just recently. But have no fear, if you loved the TV show, you’ll want to get the Blu-Ray version of the first and only season when it’s released on Blu Ray November 11, 2008.
