Roswell, Texas – Saddle up Boys!

roswellWell, there it is, Roswell, Texas - the book I have coveted  for the past  two years but somehow just never got around to reading. Now I know why, because  this  multi layered volume of  ‘twisted Texas tawdriness’ pretty much soaked up every insomniac moment I had and then some. Daylight came and went for a solid week and yet I remained somewhere in the desert lost in the mountains hovering aloft over Roswell waiting to return to my senses – I’m still waiting for that to happen.

Tim Tyler’s ‘Engine’ – Thrust is a Must!

page-1-newI have this persistent dream, it goes like this: I’m in the comic book shop hunting through the millions and millions of comics that are stacked EVERYWHERE but I just can’t seem to find what I’m looking for….not that I don’t want everything I see but I can’t find something I haven’t seen before. Then in a mild fit of anger I go to the counter and ask for something new, something original something FRESH…..like the stuff I keep seeing all over the Internet, you know like  a Digital Comic?  As you can guess the dream ends rather violently.

Black Salt …….Monks on a Rampage!

I was handed a golden opportunity the other day and since those so seldom come along I took a long  moment to  bask in it’s glow . Let me show you what I’m rambling about, so you can bask too. black salt

This is Black Salt and I have a feeling it’s going to gather momentum like a Cheetah with hunger pangs.

Doug TenNapel’s ‘Gear’ – missed shifts and some fishy philosophy.

Gear. What can I say? Sometimes things are a hit sometimes a miss. Doug TenNapel is a talented a guy and he’s built up quite a fine stable of works but I’m not sure I would count Gear as one of his masterpieces.

Scud The Disposable Assassin-The Whole Shebang

scudWell, almost 9 days ago I began a 764 page monstrosity called Scud The Disposable Assassin, the Whole Shebang. It was a massive read that turned out to be a whirlwind of a ride. Well more like a tsunami of epic emotion and memorable & momentous hilarity. I went into this knowing it would be an undertaking but I had been dreaming of the day that I could actually sit down and read in totality the WHOLE series. The Whole Shebang reprints issues 1-24 and includes some extras that further explore the mind of Rob Schrab.

Nufonia Must Fall…. and so shall we.

kidkoala

A long time ago in year long forgotten now, a small but quiet masterpiece was born and it was christened Nufonia Must Fall. The Creator of this quietly infectious grooving little tale  was a multi talented guy that had been very busy wooing the  world of music .

City of Dust…where Fairytales go to die.

cod3Thinking of delving into a fictional work? Spending a Saturday night reading Grimm’s to the kiddies? Or Sunday morning giving kudos to your creator?  Well you won’t be doing any of that in the City Of Dust, those things are currently illegal and if caught partaking of said indulgences you might just find yourself getting ready to be executed on the spot.

Get Down On Your Knees You Filthy Blood Sucker……and PRAY!!

Jesus Saves! Don’t Laugh, I’m being serious here, the Nuclear Holy War has made Jesus a very popular guy.

What? you haven’t heard about the Nuclear Holy War ? Then you better get yourself a copy of The Loaded Bible because inside its cover is a primer for surviving the coming evils our times; Vampires. Yep, you heard me right, Vampires…Blood Suckers..inter-dimensional soul thieves.

Comic Book Review: Alien Pig Farm 3000

“Alien Pigs Tore the Shirt From My Breasts!” Big bosoms, daisy duke shorts, alien pigs & a couple of bumbling rednecks. Sound familiar?

Search your mind; yep it’s right there, lurking on the edge of your brain, squirming around in your vapid trivia space of weirdness.

Joss Whedon Writes Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic

joss-whedon-1Joss Whedon, of Buffy, Dollhouse and Firefly fame does more than put together quality Science Fiction and ah, whatever Buffy is. Joss also writes comics and his latest work is getting the fascinating new Motion Comic treatment. Below you’ll find a sneak peek of how it all works and I must admit I’m intrigued.

Whitley Strieber’s Nye Incidents Headed to Big Screen

Science fiction novelist and self-professed alien abductee Whitley Strieber is a tad preoccupied with aliens. You can’t blame the guy, since he claims to have been anal probed by short, rail-thin squinty-eyed dudes with huge heads, and that’s never a good experience. Or so I’ve been told. Strieber has taken his alien obsession to the comic books in “The Nye Incidents”, and now Dark Castle has snapped up the movie rights to the Devil’s Due graphic novel with an eye towards turning it into a feature film. If the comic book does become a movie, Dark Castle has tapped Todd Lincoln to direct.

Bryan Singer Developing Comic Book Movie Freedom Formula

Now THIS is where Bryan Singer (of “X-Men” and “Superman Returns”) fame should be plying his trade, on adaptations of comic book movies about guys in exo-suits, not directing World War II junk starring Tom Friggin’ Cruise. Singer will be developing a movie based on the comic book “Freedom Formula: Ghost of the Wasteland” and might also direct, though he will definitely produce.

Jericho is Back! (…as a comic book)

Jericho was one of those shows that I sort of liked, but as it went on, it just got really dull and silly, and I just tuned out after a couple of episodes. What really got me most about the show was just how indifferent people seem to be about that whole “end of America” part, and still kept on with their affairs, money grubbing ways, etc. Really? Eh. Anyways, the show is coming back, this time as a comic book.

Judge Dredd Reboot is Coming

What, Sylvester Stallone as Judge Dredd wasn’t good enough for you guys? You gotta reboot the character for the big screen? Okay, why not. Let’s face it, 1995′s “Judge Dredd” was a major disappointment. A big-budget mega disappointment. Okay, okay, it pretty much stunk up the joint, which may be why the guys at 2000AD are already hard at work getting the reboot together for a 2009 start date. Don’t believe me? They said so at their site.

Science Kills in Kevin Sorbo’s New Sci-Fi Actioner

Who doesn’t love parallel Earth stories? “What if’s”, “Elseworlds” — whatever you want to call it, it’s always a blast to see established TV shows take the characters we know and twist them around without worrying about the consequences, since this is just a parallel universe we’re visiting. Star Trek did it quite often, but they always did it well; Stargate SG1 did a couple of them that turned out pretty good, too. But what about a movie based on the parallel world premise? That’s the idea behind Kevin Sorbo’s new sci-fi actioner, “Paradox”.
