Rian Johnson’s first stab at mainstream movie success, the sci-fi actioner “Looper” shoots into theaters this Friday on September 28th, 2012. To get you ready for it, the Powers That Be have commissioned this groovy animated trailer for the movie. It’s aces, kids. In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. Check out a markedly better trailer for Rian Johnson’s “Looper”, which has appeared online for your viewing pleasure, so view it already, why doncha. It’s a French trailer, as far as I can tell, given the French subtitle underneath the trailer and such. There’s a lot more action, more blood, and less Joseph Gordon-Levitt acting like a total selfish tool as he tries to kill himself. Dude, you’re trying to kill yourself! In 2072, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. Someone like Joe, who one day learns the mob wants to ‘close the loop’ by transporting back Joe’s future self. “Looper” stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Bruce Willis, Piper Perabo, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, and is directed by Rian Johnson of “Brick” fame. Going by this quad banner, it appears the film involves Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (or the poor photoshop version of him) growing into giants and then stomping on a poor city. Poor, poor city. In 2072, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. This one is a domestic trailer #2, officially speaking. It looks a bit like the last International trailer we posted, except some of the sequences are switched around. And I do believe you get to see Bruce Willis punch Joseph Gordon-Levitt, playing his younger self, an extra time or so. Bruce Willis Really Needs Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Help in New Looper UK Trailer

But it sure looks like he’s not gonna get it. Ol Bruce Willis’ younger self in Rian Johnson’s “Looper” is somewhat of a selfish jerk from the looks of it, and would rather live the 30 or so years he has left instead of helping his older self survive. Or at least, that’s the premise of this new UK trailer for “Looper”. In the year 2042, a mob hitman assassinates targets that arrive from the future of 2072. For him it’s just a job… till he receives a new target: himself from the future. Also starring Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. The future collides with the past in a big ol mess on September 28, 2012.

Rian Johnson’s Looper Will be Slightly Longer and a Tad More Chinese in China

The Chinese are a strange lot. Now that they’ve achieved economic superpower status, the country has plenty of muscles to flex when it comes to Hollywood movies that appear in their country. Since the Chinese Government controls whatever movies open in China to its gazillion (give or take) citizens, it behooves Hollywood studios not to piss off the Chinese Government. Like, say, make Chinese workers in a Chinese restaurant secretly aliens. Yeah, that’s not going to work. As a result, that scene in “Men in Black 3″ was cut to appease the Chinese Government, or else the movie would not have been allowed to screen in the country. In a bit of a silly twist, instead of having scenes they deem “offensive” deleted from a movie before allowing it to screen, Sony has added back in China-centric scenes to their upcoming time-travel actioner “Looper” at the “request” of the movie’s Chinese financial backers. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a killer who works for the mob of the future by dispatching victims they sent back through time. First Look at Rian Johnson’s Time-Travel Actioner Looper

Been covering Rian Johnson’s time-travel action movie “Looper” for a while, so I’m glad to finally see something from it. Your first pic from the movie (via Empire) has Bruce Willis blasting away at some poor slob with a P90. In the flick, Willis plays the older version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a “time hitman” in the movie. As you can imagine, when our hero meets himself from the future, things get a tad hairy. (Even, er, if his future self doesn’t have any hair. Ahem.) oe is no ordinary hitman. The hooded, bound victims he kills are sent back in time from 30 years in the future: he shoots them with a blunderbuss, burns the bodies, and all trace of the crime disappears. Life is pretty good for Joe, until one day a body arrives without a hood: it’s his future self, played by Willis.
