It seems like it’s taken ages for it to finally make it to the big screen again — I guess you can say, it’s been, ahem, running in quicksand all this time — but that “Logan’s Run” remake from Warner Bros. has finally found sure footing. (See what I did there?) After losing one director after another, the remake has finally landed an honest to goodness, signed on the dotted line director, along with a star in Ryan Gosling. The actor will be re-teaming with Nicolas Winding Refn, who last directed him in the heist flick “Drive”, on the reboot for the WB. The duo will be working from a script by “Sunshine’s” Alex Garland, who is also the writer on the “Judge Dredd” reboot.
Carl Rinsch is a name often mentioned here at SciFiCool. Carl is the dude originally rumoured to helm the “Alien” reboot before the suits insisted that Ridley Scott take over the deal. Carl is kind of under the wing of Ridley and is one fine commercial director, having been the man behind some of the coolest commercials ever made. Rumour is that Carl is now in talks to reboot the classic “Logan’s Run” for producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman. “Logan’s Run” is the story of a future world where everybody parties hard until they turn thirty, when they are disposed of. Logan is a guy that doesn’t much feel like getting disposed and makes a break for it, leaving the obviously flawed city-state he lives in for a run into the wild outside world.
