There is a feature film version of CBS’s “Jericho” apparently in development says Dan Shotz, the former co-exec producer of the post Apocalyptic drama.
His words.
“It’s not just wishful thinking,” Shotz said in an exclusive interview Tuesday at CBS Studios in Studio City, Calif., where he screened the pilot of his new series, Harper’s Island. He added: “We’ve … been developing a feature to hopefully make, because we would love to. I mean, … Jericho is so built in a way, … especially where we left off season two, to create a feature. So our hope is to launch this comic-book series and then with the development at the same time of the feature, hopefully get that launched as well.”
I quite enjoyed the show actually. Can’t get enough of the dusty Fi stuff. You have to have a healthy mix between your dirty and your shiny Science Fiction. Thanks SciFiWire.

Jericho was one of those shows that I sort of liked, but as it went on, it just got really dull and silly, and I just tuned out after a couple of episodes. What really got me most about the show was just how indifferent people seem to be about that whole “end of America” part, and still kept on with their affairs, money grubbing ways, etc. Really? Eh. Anyways, the show is coming back, this time as a comic book.
THR’s Live Feed says that indie comic book publisher Devil’s Due has made a deal with CBS to publish a comic book series based on the show, which would pick up where the TV show left off. The publisher also promises to answer many of the show’s “lingering questions and is aimed at appealing to the show’s famously devoted fans.”
To accomplish this, the comic book company will be working closely with the show’s original creative team of Jon Turteltaub, [...]

It came from the ashes of network cancellation (an almost impossible feat in TV land nowadays), thanks to a small band of loyal fans, but the post-apocalyptic/conspiracy show Jericho has finally met its match: small but loyal viewers, but too small, as it turns out. As a result, CBS has officially announced the show’s second cancellation, which means this upcoming Tuesday’s episode will be the show’s last on CBS. Where does it go from here?
More:
Networks rarely reverse a show’s cancellation, but CBS has proven its flexibility at least once before. In 1983, after “Cagney & Lacey” was canceled and the network was bombarded with protests, the police drama was brought back in 1984 — and ran successfully until 1988.
The network also likely took into consideration the dent a long hiatus put in the show’s viewership.
Last fall, “Jericho” was averaging 10.5 million viewers. When it returned in the spring, it drew about 8.1 million, about a 23 percent decline from the [...]

A lot of Jericho fans were pretty bummed when I posted the TV Guide article that Jericho had been, for the second time in its lifespan, cancelled due to low ratings (here). But guess what, Jericho fans, there’s a new reason to smile — in an interview with Sci Fi Wire, Jericho executive producer Carol Barbee says that if the show does get cancelled, she’ll be shopping it to a couple of cable TV networks, including The Sci Fi Channel.
More:
“There were other people who were interested in us to begin with, and now, I think, with the whole nuts [fan] campaign, and also with the amazing reviews that we’ve gotten for these seven episodes, I feel like we have made this franchise more valuable to a cable network who would want to take us on as a niche market,” Barbee said.
“So I think it’s very possible,” Barbee added. “We obviously have a relationship now with SCI FI Channel, because [...]

Well, you Jericho fans out there can’t say CBS didn’t give your show a chance. Networks rarely uncancel a show as it is, but they did it with Jericho after fans got riled up enough to engage in a brilliant resurrection campaign, but apparently all the publicity from that didn’t generate enough viewers, because Jericho’s Season 2 return from the abyss, starting with its first two episodes, netted well below average numbers. Result? CBS is set to cancel Jericho yet again, this time, it would appear, for good.
More:
Sources have told SyFy Portal that CBS is gearing up to air the series finale version of the post-apocalyptic series on March 25, one of two endings shot that would either allow a cliffhanger going into a third season, or a proper amount of closure for “Jericho” fans who fought hard to force CBS to reconsider its previous decision to cancel the show.
“There are a lot of people here who really care [...]

Jericho’s miraculous resurrection after being cancelled by CBS has achieved near legendary status — nuts. And lots of nuts. But if the Season 2 opener is any indication, CBS may be re-thinking their renewed hope in Jericho. The show’s return to the airwaves failed to deliver in the ratings, coming in second to a repeat of Law and Order and a first-run episode of Boston Legal. The numbers, alas, were about the same middling numbers that got it cancelled in the first place.
More:
“Jericho” averaged 7.1 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/7 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research. The nuclear-war drama came in just behind the first place show, a repeat “Law & Order: SVU” (8.4 million, 2.6/7) and ahead in 18-49 of an original “Boston Legal” (7.2 million, 2.5/7). It was up compared to last season’s finale and about even from last year’s average (2.7/8) but nothing like its first [...]

The Sci Fi Channel has acquired exclusive cable re-rerun rights for CBS’s post-apocalyptic TV series Jericho, which is scheduled to return for its second season on February 12th, 2008, which is no easy feat, considering the show was actually cancelled once by CBS, but was saved by a fan campaign involving…peanuts.
More:
The three-year agreement gives Sci Fi rights to the first and second seasons of the series, which includes an exclusive first run in basic cable for the first six months of the deal.
“Jericho” stars Skeet Ulrich and revolves around the survivors of a nuclear attack in a Kansas town. It debuted in September 2006 to promising ratings but struggled upon its return to the schedule after a three-month hiatus when it had to face Fox’s “American Idol.”
The Sci Fi Channel will be starting its Jericho schedule with a 4-episode mini-marathon on February 11th, a day before the show’s season 2 premiere on CBS.
