“Flashforward” has come and gone, and though many jumped ship about halfway through (as I did), others stayed on hoping for a second season. Alas, a second season did not happen, but hey, there’s always the first season, which is due out as a Complete Season DVD on August 31, 2010 from Walt Disney Home Entertainment. Check out the full DVD specs and bonus clips from the set below. Chaos reigns in Los Angeles after a mysterious event causes everyone in the world to lose consciousness at exactly the same moment. Was it an act of nature? Something man-made gone wrong, or something even more sinister? Whatever it was, every person on Earth blacks out for two minutes and seventeen seconds and sees a series of events from their own future, taking place on April 29, 2010 at 10:00 p.m. For some the future will be joyous and hopeful; for others, shockingly unexpected; and for a few, it simply doesn’t [...]

Well, they’re committed, you gotta give them that. Via Deadline: Supporters of the cancelled TV show converged on London’s leafy Wandsworth Common last night to stage a mass “blackout.” Pretend blackouts, lasting for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, mimicking the opening of the show, also took place simultaneously in Edinburgh, Dublin, Pisa, Italy. European fans linked up with US campaigners trying to save the show. Mini-blackouts were staged in New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles, where protestors fainted in front of ABC’s offices in Burbank. I’m not sure that a lot of people falling over will move the Mouse House to pity though. “FlashForward” was recently canceled by ABC after just one season. The stars, including Joseph Fiennes, have already found new jobs on new shows.

It’s a bizarre irony that “Lost” and the show touted to replace it ended in the same week. So what began with a bang for “Flash Forward” months ago, concludes tonight with dramatic whimper, doubtlessly forgotten by the viewers who abandon it months ago. All in all rather a shame, since the denouement is a fairly entertaining but confusing and uneven finale. It’s been six months past, and Flash Forward Day is here–the night everyone will learn what they glimpsed was immovable fate or simply one path their life may follow. Some find their vision, for good or ill, to become reality; others discover that life has veered from what was presented to them. But this night is for anything but celebration — another global blackout is imminent and there’s barely time for the FBI to prevent another disaster, if it’s not already too late. Before the show debuted last September, the creative staff mentioned having a five year plan [...]

“Flash Forward” is essentially a dead man walking, a series waiting for the inevitability of cancellation. Ratings are in the sewer, and cast members appear to be leaving like rats off a sinking ship. The series is so sick it’s got bed sores. But when majority of shows would just cut their losses and phone weekly episodes in, who would have thought “Flash Forward” would decide to be brilliant? The day Dimitri has been bitching and moaning about has finally arrived, the dreaded March 15th, in which his death has been prophecized. His day isn’t going well as it is, with the mysterious Dyson Frost (aka D. Gibbons) having kidnapped him and booby trapped Mark’s gun to fire through his chest. Frost has him stashed God knows where, but he’s the sporting type. He’s dropped some archaic clues ranging from Dr. Seuss to classical painting to Mark’s young daughter, expecting her to pass them along. But the FBI agent isn’t [...]

When your castmembers start auditioning for new shows, it’s a pretty bad sign that your show might be, uh, on the fence when it comes to renewal. Such is the case for ABC’s quickly plummeting “FlashForward”, which has seen three (three!) castmembers getting new gigs lately while the show is still in its first season and hoping for a second. E! has more: This can’t be good. Christina Woods (Janice) has been cast as the female lead in the NBC comedy pilot Perfect Couples. This makes the third (!) FlashForward castmember to land a role on a new pilot for the coming TV season. Ryan Wynott (Dylan) has joined The Cape, a drama pilot for NBC, and last week Zachary Knighton signed on as the male lead in ABC’s Happy Endings. Of the three, Christina Woods’ second job is of real importance, since Janis (not Janice, ahem) is a pretty big part of the show. Of course, they could just [...]

Ever since “Flash Forward” temporarily departed the airwaves almost four months ago, the Internet has not been kind to the show groomed to be the next “Lost”. If you believe everything you’ve read in the past month, David Goyer abandoned the show to embark on a five state killing spree, the entire cast is in need of being vaccinated for rabies, and executives at ABC have turned to Oxycotin/Xanax/Percocet/airplane glue/dollar wine and anything else within reach to deal with the constant stress of their high profile implosion. Things may be bleak, but they haven’t reached Defcon One levels of panic yet. Last week’s two hour attempt to rise from the ashes may not have solely been enough to turn this turkey into a phoenix, but it’s a good start. Wisely jettisoned are some of the weaker subplots; at first these were instrumental in introducing us to the ensemble cast but quickly became dead weight as they detracted away from the [...]

For a TV show that I had great hopes for when I heard about it and followed up on it, “FlashForward” has not exactly met my expectations. In fact, it’s pretty much failed to even keep me interested, which is probably why, though I’ve continued to DVR the new episodes just in case, I haven’t actually watched them yet. Apparently I’m not the only one. The show’s recent two-hour return from hiatus scored its lowest ratings yet (down 10% from the show’s all-time low numbers in December) which is a shame as, from what I’ve heard, this particular episode really moved everything along and supplied plenty of answers about the global blackout. The spring premiere brought in 6.6 million viewers (and 1.9 million in the all-important 18-49 demo). For some perspective, consider that the show’s premiere brought in a very solid 12.5 million viewers. At this point, a second season seems unlikely, though all that could change if the numbers [...]

After what seems like forever, ABC’s “FlashForward” is due back on the air to continue its blackout conspiracy March 18, 2010, and from there, the network will air 13 new episodes in a row. When the show does return, it’ll have added a new castmember — James Callis, who plays Gaius Baltar on “Battlestar Galactica”, will be doing a multi-episode arc on the show. Speaking to SciFiWire, new showrunner Jessika Borsiczky wouldn’t say what Callis’ role would be, only that it’s “a big role”, especially in the later episodes to close out the show’s first year. “FlashForward”, in case some of you might have forgotten, stars Joseph Fiennes as an FBI agent who is investigating a mysterious event that caused a global blackout for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, during which everyone in the world sees their future.

But do not despair. A new creative bunch has just been announced to steer Flash Forward to someplace hopefully more in the LOST direction of weirder and well, better. Producer Jessika Borsiczky, writer/producer Lisa Zwerling (E.R.) and Tim Lea (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will take over from David on the Sci-Fi show now cut from 25 to 22 episodes.
As you all know, David Goyer (Show Runner) has left Flash Forward to work on other projects. What other projects might be more important than running a pretty big budget weekly Sci-Fi LOST replacement? I had sort of assumed that David was out of Flash Forward because it was, quite unfortunately, sucking. Nikke Finke, of Deadline Hollywood has a different take. She speculates that David might have left Flash Forward to work or to continue work on the third Batman epic with Jonathan Nolan. Mr. Goyer co-wrote “Batman Begins” with Jonathan Nolan and wrote the story that “The Dark Knight”s script was based on. Most interesting. Nikki has good sources and if all this is true this news bodes well for Batman fans waiting patiently for number three. For me, it’s director Chris Nolan that is the attraction and thankfully, we’ve got his “Inception” coming up real soon.

David Goyer, showrunner and co-creator of ABC’s Flash Forward has bailed to pursue his motion picture career, according to the Hollywood Reporter. As you may remember, David took over for Mark Guggenheim, who also stepped away. I’m not calling Flash Forward dead in the water but it’s starting to lose that new car smell. The execs obviously saw Flash Forward as the replacement for Lost which is finishing this year. Let’s face it though. There’s a wide gap between the shows, both in acting quality and in writing. The concept of Flash is cool, just about everyone on Earth takes a header and stays unconscious for a couple of minutes. What dark scheme is behind this surrender to gravities embrace? I’m not sure I care and according to the ratings, which are in free fall, the number of you out there that care is rapidly diminishing. Flash Forward returns to television, hopefully jazzed up, on March 18th. Here’s David Goyer’s [...]

Are you still watching ABC’s “FlashForward”? I have the show DVR’ed, but haven’t had time to watch the last three episodes. Okay, it’s not that I don’t have the time, it’s that I, well, don’t want to. Which is a shame, because after the first couple of episodes, this was quickly becoming my favorite new show. Then it, er, wasn’t. I don’t know what happen, to tell you the truth, but maybe it was that trip to Washington that just opened the door up to a whole slew of new, completely unlikeable characters that made me give up on the whole thing. In any case, news is that the show will now temporarily shut down production for six days so that the writers can “tinker” with it. When reached for comment, an ABC rep confirmed the temporary shut down, and gave this as the excuse reason: “They started production early so that they could have the luxury to do this.
