New Poster and Trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Super 8

Kids and monsters go together like aliens and big bad government men with guns. There seems to be plenty of things in J.J. Abrams’ latest, the Steven Spielberg-produced (and dare I say, heavily inspired) “Super 8″, which has unearthed a new theatrical trailer and poster. Check them both out below.

Apollo 18 Trailer Finally Lands

I gotta admit, I’m not a big fan of this whole “found footage” genre, but hey, maybe we’ll get something actually interesting out of it other than stupid ghost movies where nothing happens until the end. Anyways, here’s the first trailer for the Timur Bekmambetov-produced “Apollo 18″.

New Posters and 7 Clips from The Adjustment Bureau

Two new posters and 7 spanking new clips from Matt Damon and Emily Blunt’s “The Adjustment Bureau”.

First Trailer for FOX’s Terra Nova

Not sure if this first trailer for the Steven Spielberg-produced “Terra Nova” appeared on Super Bowl Sunday or not, because I didn’t see it. Seeing as how FOX broadcasted the Super Bowl, you would think it’s a no-brainer that they would show this to gin up some interest. Don’t know for sure, but FOX has since put the 30-second spot out onto the net, and you can catch it below.

Green Lantern Trailer Debuts

It’s heeeeeeeeeere. Check out Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. Color me green with envy.

Giveaway: Star Wars Millennium Falcon 3D Book

Who doesn’t love Star Wars? Or 3D? (Okay, I can do without every single one of my movies being turned into 3D, but that’s another gripe.) Now, books in 3D — that’s kinda cool. Thanks to the good folks behind the “Star Wars Millennium Falcon 3D” book, we have three copies of the book to give away to three lucky winners. Head on below for details.

Book Review: All You Need is Kill

In a lot of ways, Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s “All You Need is Kill” reminded me of John Steakley’s “Armor”, one of the very first sci-fi novels I ever picked up (completely on a whim, natch), and ended up enjoying the hell out of. There is a lot of “Armor” in “Kill”, in that both books deal with futuristic warriors in, essentially, personal “mecha” suits (in “Kill” they are called “Jackets”, but they’re essentially the same things), and the enemy is, quite literally, an alien infestation that refuses to yield, negotiate, or indeed, communicate.

Book Review: I Am Number Four

The truly great “teen” novels transcend age limits. “Harry Potter” is probably the best example of a book written for young adults with true imagination that attracts readers of all ages like moths to a flame. “I Am Number Four” won’t have to worry about burning insects falling about around it, because it never threatens to be anything more than a novel to be appreciated entirely by a teenage audience. The novel is a decent read, but it becomes forgettable just as quickly.

4 Clips, 2 Featurettes, and Image Gallery for Christopher Nolan’s Inception

Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending sci-fi spectacular “Inception” is just a few days away (it opens later this week, in case you’re not keeping track, and if you’re not — why the hell not?), which makes this the perfect opportunity to catch up on all the goodies that Warner Bros. has released so far for the movie. So, without further ado, here are four clips and two featurettes exploring the world of “Inception” for your viewing pleasure. Also added, a gallery of images that you might have missed.

TV Review: Haven – Pilot

The SyFy Channel’s new show “Haven” is essentially “The X-Files” if that show was set in one location and Fox Mulder was a spunky blonde, and instead of a doubting Dana Scully you have a doubting Detective who can’t feel pain.

DVD Review: Sanctuary Complete Seasons 1 and 2

SyFy Channel’s “Sanctuary” is an enjoyable show best described as “Hellboy” meets “Fringe” or “The X-Files” or even SyFy’s own “Warehouse 13.”

Comic Con Info and New Images for TNT’s Falling Skies Alien Invasion Show

Check out a new batch of images from TNT’s upcoming alien invasion TV show “Falling Skies” (formerly “Fallen Skies”, according to a new press release announcing the show’s Comic Con appearance). For a show with Noah Wyle in the lead and Steven Spielberg producing, it’s surprising that “Skies” hasn’t really gotten all that much press. That might change when the show makes its Comic Con debut, though.

Book Giveaway: Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games

With Suzanne Collins’s “The Hunger Games” set to be released on paperback July 6th, and a movie version of the first book due out from Lionsgate sometime in 2011, we have five copies of the book in paperback and a $25 Visa Cash Card to give away to one Grand Prize Winner. Doctor Who 5.10 Vincent and the Doctor Recap

We last left The Doctor in a pretty dark place. Rory had just died a senseless death near one of the cracks in the universe, and the cascading time energy erased him from existence. Even worse when The Doctor retrieved a piece of debris from inside the rift–only to discover an exploded piece of his TARDIS. So after those shocking events, it’s nice to have the show settle down and offer us some human drama before leaping back into cataclysmic events.

Stargate Universe Episode Recap 1.20: Incursion Part 2

Well it’s the end. The first season of StarGate Universe is over. Drama just isn’t interesting unless the people you’re watching experience change. Space is stressful. Did the castaways evolve as human beings over the season? Did the year of dark corridors, invading aliens, bad food and grouchy Scotsmen culminate in a wicked finale or did it all just fizzle?
