You don’t have to be a fan of “Farscape” to want this DVD mega set, but it sure helps. We’ve been talking up the complete “Farscape” DVD release (every single episode on 26 discs!) for a while now, but thanks to A&E Home Entertainment, we now have one (1) copy of the DVD to give away to one lucky winner. In order to enter to win, you have to be an astronaut, or at least a Peacekeeper — just kidding. Head on below for the details.
John Crichton. Astronaut. Flung through a wormhole and lost in a galaxy far from home. He finds himself in the middle of a prison break, surrounded by hostile aliens, soaring through space inside a glorious living space ship called Moya. Hunted by the relentless Peacekeepers, he allies himself with his unimaginably alien fellow refugees and searches for a way home.So begins the epic sci-fi classic Farscape. A fusion of live action, state-of-the-art puppetry, prosthetics and [...]

To be honest with you, as a longtime fan of Farscape, I had every intention of attending the show’s Comic-Con ‘09 panel as just a fanboy. I’m happy to say that there were actually some news-worthy nuggets from the panel. Ostensibly a press release to fans about the upcoming Farscape megaset DVD from A&E (you can read more about that here), the panel, which featured stars Ben Browder (snazzily dressed in a suit and tie) and Claudia Black, creator Rockne O’Bannon, and Henson Company head honcho Brian Henson (they did all the puppets on the show, as well as produced it), nevertheless offered up some interesting news about the future of Farscape.
Some of you may or may not know, but O’Bannon has continued the story of Aeryn Sun and John Crichton in comic book form from Boom! Comics. According to O’Bannon, the comic takes place immediately after the events of “The Peacekeeper Wars”, and follows John, Aeryn, and their [...]

Now this is certainly exciting news for fans of Rockne O’Bannon’s brilliant sci-fi show Farscape, which ran on the Sci Fi Channel from 1999 to 2003, and included a mini-series to tie up loose ends. Just got a press release that says the show’s creator and its stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black will be hitting up this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego later this month as part of a special panel to introduce a Farscape DVD mega set that will include all four seasons of the show, courtesy of A&E Home Entertainment and the Jim Henson Company. As someone who has never missed a single episode, this is very good news.

While writing that article about the Henson Company making their Farscape episodes available on iTunes, I was reminded why I loved Farscape so much. Sure, the stories were wacky, the series itself was highly unpredictable and always full of surprises. And oh yeah, one other thing: Claudia Black played a kick-ass heroine chick so well it was hard to imagine anyone else playing Aeryn Sun, badass Peacekeeper turned badass fugitive.
Not surprisingly, once Claudia finished up with Farscape, was quickly landed another sci-fi role — on Stargate SG-1 alongside, coincidentally enough, her Farscape co-star Ben Browder. She can currently be seen in a series of made-for-DVD Stargate movies.
A quick bio of Claudia Black from Wikipedia:
Claudia Lee Black (born in Sydney) is an Australian actress, best known for her portrayals of Aeryn Sun and Vala Mal Doran in the science fiction (“sci-fi”) television series Farscape and Stargate SG-1 respectively.
For her role in Farscape, Black was nominated Best Actress by Saturn Award in [...]

So, are you one of those people who have been waiting with bated breath for the Henson company to release Farscape onto iTunes for you to download? Um, why? Dude, if you were a real fan you would have bought the DVDs years ago! But hey, I’m not judging you. Or am I?
More:
The Jim Henson Company announced that it has made its TV programming and feature film library available for download on Apple’s iTunes store. Beginning Jan. 28, fans will be able to purchase episodes from the first season of the cult SF series Farscape, as well as the classic children’s series Fraggle Rock (which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008).
iTunes downloads are fine and well, but you gotta have the entire series on DVD.

Well, sort of. It’s been a long time since new “Farscape” episodes hit the airwaves, so long that I can’t even recall. Was it three years ago? Four? Somewhere along there. I’ve forgotten already. In any case, the Sci Fi Channel has seen the error of their ways, and while they’re not going to be bringing back the series, Ben Browder, Claudia Black, and everyone else included, they will be bringing back Farscape in some capacity — namely as a new web-only 10-part series. Basically, webisodes.
From Syfyportal:
No word has been announced on when such a project would be released, or how long each episode would be (or who will star), but SciFi Channel officials said they have ordered a 10-part series based on “Farscape” that will be executive produced by Brian Henson and Robert Halmi Jr. Just like the original series, this Web series will be produced by the Jim Henson Co. and RHI Entertainment.
The new “Farscape” Web project is [...]
