Guillermo del Toro wishes his movie could be this cool. Someone out there decided that Guillermo del Toro’s monster mash sci-fi flick “Pacific Rim” looked a little bit like those mighty morphin’ Power Rangers of the ’80s and ’90s. (In fact, those damn Rangers are still around to these day, with new stars and new wacky color schemes, I’d imagine.) Result? Go go Power Pacific Rim Rangers!

In an alternate universe, inside of as a trilogy of movies by the Wachowski brothers, what if “The Matrix” was a pulp novel, complete with grainy, artwork covers from the ’40s? Then they would probably look like these ridiculously awesome covers by artist Timothy Anderson. Check out more of his work at his official site if you’re so inclined. Dude is vastly talented.
Oh, cats. What can’t they do? Well, lots of stuff, especially if they’re fat and lazy, but don’t tell the cats of “Cats in Space” that. These little furballs know how to survive in space. Kinda. Space, the final frontier. A feline starship embarks on a mission to boldly go where no cat has gone before. Find more from the cat-loving fiends of Dastoli Digital on Facebook and their Official Site. And for more furball overload, a behind-the-scenes video. Cats, as it turns out, make terrible actors.

Alexandre Aja’s big-budget, live-action version of “Cobra: The Space Pirate” won’t be landing for a while yet (if, that is, it actually makes it), but until then, check out a quickie fan-made teaser trailer from filmmaker Michael Paris. You don’t see much of Cobra himself, but I guess that’s the point. So what’s this Cobra guy all about? Set in the far future, the series tells of a man called Cobra, who lived an adventurous life until his enemies began to hunt him down. Cobra surgically altered his face and erased his own memory in order to hide from his foes and lead a normal life. He soon regains his memories and re-unites with his old partner Lady Armaroid and his ship Tortuga. Cobra travels the galaxy, fighting the outlaw Pirate Guild, but also fleeing the law-enforcing Milky Way Patrol. Along with his charm and wit, Cobra survives thanks to his Psycho-Gun, a weapon embodied in his left arm.
I think Nathan Fillion is a decent actor myself, and he’s been good in the things I’ve seen him in, like the “Serenity” movie, or the Firefly TV show from which it was based on. I even think he’s okay in that new show of his called Castle, of which I’ve only seen previews for, but hey, he looked good in it. But of course I’m not a Nathan Fillion fanatic, but there apparently lots of those around, too, and one of them made this very cool “Green Lantern” movie trailer if it starred Fillion. Good stuff. It’s never going to happen, of course, but why burst the kids’ bubbles?

From the makers of “Escape From City 17″ The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500. This thing is so good, the people at Valve actually flew the directors, brothers David and Ian Purchase, out to meet with them, although there is no word if this thing will ever turn into an actual movie or not. Check out www.purchasebrothers.com for more info.
