It was canceled, then it wasn’t canceled, and now … it’s canceled again? EW confirms that the cable network won’t go ahead with its previously planned 6-episode sixth season after all. Syfy said as much in a statement: After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy [...]

When the Syfy Channel’s “Eureka” returns Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, it’ll be bringing along three notable guest stars, including geek Goddess Felicia Day, “Star Trek’s” Wil Wheaton, and comic book god Stan Lee. Felicia Day will play a character name Dr. Holly Marten, described as “a quirky Department of Defense visitor to Eureka tasked with evaluating eager candidates for a special mission that has been given to Global Dynamics and will pit the town’s scientists against one another.” Day has the longest stint of the three, and will begin her seven episode arc on “Eureka” starting with the Monday, July 18th episode. In the same episode, Wheaton will return to the show as “the contentious Dr. Parrish, who is in competition with Fargo to be selected to the mission. The two also vie for the affections of Dr. Marten, who unwittingly finds herself at the center of a love triangle.” Last but not least, the cameo warrior [...]

Love those wacky residents of Eureka? Lucky you, because the SyFy Channel has just renewed the show for a fifth season. Syfy is greenlighting its hit original dramedy Eureka for a 5th season, it was announced today by Mark Stern, EVP of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions, which produces the series. Eureka seems like any other cozy, Pacific Northwest town, but is actually a secret community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they’ve unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen… and does. Eureka stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Niall Matter, James Callis and features Jordon Hinson. Co-creator Jaime Paglia and Bruce Miller are Executive Producers. Since Eureka’s 4th season premiere on July 9, 2010, and with the most recent Live +7 data factored in, the show is averaging a 2.2 HH rating and more than 3 million total viewers per [...]

The Sci Fi Channel has released their premiere dates for their returning and new shows in a press release. Some of the shows expected back in the cable net’s Summer line-up includes the last Stargate show standing, Atlantis, which returns for its fifth season, and original hit Eureka, which returns for its third year; also returning are Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, and prank show Scare Tactics, which had been canceled for a while there, but is now back. I still have no idea what pulling pranks has to do with sci-fi (and hosted by Tracy Morgan, of all people), but I love the show anyways. More about Stargate: Atlantis, and new plots and old faces that will be showing up in Year 5: Stargate Atlantis (Season 5 Premieres July 11, 2008 @ 10 PM) – As Stargate Atlantis moves into its fifth action-packed season, the team of intrepid explorers continue to face peril and uncertainty from within the vast [...]
