Paul Giamatti stars as himself in “Cold Souls”, a story about Paul and the unbearable burden of being a complicated human with an anxiety problem. Paul has issues you see. He’s stuck. Paul is overstuffed with angst, worry and doubt.
In “Cold Souls”, there’s a solution to these tricky symptoms. All you need to do is put your soul into storage. The clip is awesome. You’ll like it. “Cold Souls” also stars favorites David Strathairn and Emily Watson. “Cold Souls” is starting a limited release Aug 7th and will go wider soon I’m sure. Thanks io9.

How could you go wrong with a movie starring Paul Giamatti? The guy is a great actor. Put him in a quirky movie involving souls, storage, and Hollywood, and you got yourself a pretty good kooky little movie that should stay around for years. Think of it as “Being John Malkovich” but with Paul Giamatti. Sounds like a trade-up to me! Seven clips from the movie below.
Is your soul weighing you down? Paul Giamatti has found a solution! In the surreal comedy COLD SOULS, Paul Giamatti plays an actor named… Paul Giamatti. Stumbling upon an article in The New Yorker about a high-tech company that extracts, deep-freezes and stores people’s souls, Paul very well might have found the key to happiness for which he’s been searching. But, complications arise when he is the unfortunate victim of “soul-trafficking.” Giamatti’s journey takes him all the way to Russia in hopes of retrieving his stolen soul from an [...]

Not sure if this is all very sci-fi, but endy posted a poster for it earlier, so here’s the trailer to follow-up. The film stars Paul Giamatti as, er, Paul Giamatti. Seems to have a very “Being John Malkovich” vibe to it, and with Giamatti fronting the picture, how could you possible go wrong? Trailer for Sophie Barthes’ “Cold Souls” below.

Stumbling upon an article in The New Yorker about a high-tech company that extracts, deep-freezes and stores people’s souls, Paul very well might have found the key to happiness for which he’s been searching. But, complications arise when he is the unfortunate victim of “soul-trafficking.” Giamatti’s journey takes him all the way to Russia in hopes of retrieving his stolen soul from an ambitious but talentless soap-opera actress.
Paul Giamatti stars in the upcoming “Cold Souls”, a film about a guy that puts his soul or parts of it into Sci-Fi soul storage so that he can be a better actor. “Cold Souls” premiered at Sundance this year and contemplates the big question of whether or not our existential angst is our burden or our strength. No one does angst like Paul Giamatti. We have the first poster for the film below. Cold Souls arrives in theatres Aug 7, 2009. Thanks Cinematical.

The Sundance Film Festival is always a fantastic showcase for new and especially indy (intelligent) science fiction films. This year, Sundance showed off what will surely be a classic in The Moon, starring the talented Mr. Sam Rockwell and directed by David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones.
Along with The Moon, Sundance film revelers were presented with Cold Souls, a thinker starring Paul Giamatti about a depressed guy who puts his soul into storage using technological means until he feels better. Never a good idea.
Read the quirky neuron stretching plot details at the official Sundance site.
