Sci-Fi Babe of the Day: Chuck’s Yvonne Strahovski in Maxim

Yvonne Strahovski in Maxim

“Chuck’s” Yvonne Strahovski gives up her guns and kick-ass asskickery for a shot at the cover of Maxim Magazine. Photoshoot and video included. Chuck is one lucky nerd. I’m not entirely sure why the apparently uber sweet Yvonne Strahovski is giving me the finger in one of the shots, but I’m gonna blame that on the photographer making her do it. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Summer Glau on Chuck is Dangerously Hot

I’m not the biggest “Chuck” fan out there, but I am a pretty big fan of Summer Glau. Some say, too big of a fan, but that’s between me and my psychiatrist. And law enforcement. Nonetheless, Summer Glau is doing a recurring spot on “Chuck” as a super secret (and sexy) CIA agent starting with the episode “Chuck Versus The Fear of Death”, where she’s gone undercover at that nerd store where they all work at. Apparently part of her cover involves teasing the boys with a Subway sandwich and knife.

Chuck Season 3 Premiere Scores, Though I Haven’t a Clue Why

NBC kept wanting to cancel it, but for some reason kept bringing it back. And there is obviously a loud and vocal fanbase out there, albeit not enough of them to tune in on a regular basis to keep the show’s head above water year in and year out. (Kinda like Whedon fans, actually.) Now in its third season (after, once again, barely surviving cancellation), “Chuck” seems to have paid back NBC’s loyalty with its recent two-hour premiere over the weekend, which scored the show’s highest ratings since a 3D episode last year.

Chuck’s Scott Rosenbaum Takes Over V Showrunner Duties

Man, what is going on over at ABC’s “V”? First there were all those rumors of delays, network unhappiness with the episodes that have been produced so far (resulting in rewrites and reshoots), and now word is that “Chuck” veteran Scott Rosenbaum has moved over to “V” to replace Scott Peters as the show’s new showrunner.

Superman and Lana Lang are Both Visiting Chuckville

It looks like Chuck is becoming a nice little hub for former Superman-verse actors. First Brandon Routh, the most recent big-screen Superman in Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns”, was announced as a recurring character on the show’s upcoming third season as a potential love interest for Sarah, the show’s female lead, and now Kristin Kreuk, Lana Lang from Smallville, will also be recurring as a love interest for Chuck, the show’s male lead.

Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy Shows: Renewals, Cancellations, and Newcomers

With the networks officially kicking off their upfront presentations this month, we’ve now gotten official (and in some cases, semi-official) confirmations about which shows are coming back, which ones are gone, and what new offerings will be available to the genre fans out there. The schedule for the upfronts are: FOX’s begins today, followed by ABC on Tuesday, and CBS on Wednesday. NBC already did theirs earlier this month.

It’s Official: NBC Renews Chuck for Third Season

On the heels that FOX has renewed Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse for a second, albeit shorter season (with budget cuts), NBC is following suit by renewing the fan favorite (but lowly rated) Chuck for a third season, according to Entertainment Weekly. But just as Whedon’s Dollhouse will return to the airwaves with a shorten season and noticeable cuts, so too will Chuck.

Fringe and Heroes Officially Renewed, Chuck in Limbo

As reported here and elsewhere, we already suspected that FOX would be renewing Fringe for a second season, but it took them today to make it official. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the J.J. Abrams sci-fi show will be returning for a second season with a full 22-episode order. Heroes on NBC, meanwhile, has also officially been renewed for a fourth season, but may return with as few as 18-20 episodes this time around. Fans of Chuck, on the other hand, will have to wait a little longer for official word that their spy show is coming back for a third season. Or not.

Rumor: NBC To Renew Chuck for Third Season

According to Nikki Finke over at industry insider blog Deadline Hollywood Daily, the Powers That Be at the network have told her that NBC plans to renew their low-rated sci-fi/fantasy show Chuck for a third season. The official announcement is expected to come on Monday, but for now, that’s the word on the street.

Chuck Season 2 Cast Promos

To be honest with you, I don’t know if the NBC show Chuck even qualifies as sci-fi. But I guess the premise of a geek getting America’s government secrets DOWNLOADED into his head is sorta sci-fi. In a way. Right? Anyways, Chuck has finished a successful first season, and will return next month with its Season 2 premiere. Ahead of that, NBC has released the latest cast promos of the show’s Season 2, featuring Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Adam Baldwin, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, and Julia Ling.

NBC Renews Chuck and Heroes

NBC has released their schedule of shows they expect back for next season — they include the third season of Heroes, the second season of which was shortened because of the writer’s strike, and the second season of the new series Chuck. The Heroes renewal is no surprise, but Chuck was a little uncertain, since the show fell in the ratings after a strong start.
