For some strange reason, perhaps my neurons are backfiring again, “Astro Boy” until very recently hadn’t hit that often inflamed Sci-Fi nerve.

New Action-Packed Astro Boy Clip and Images
Check out the latest clip from “Astro Boy” released by Summit Entertainment and a new batch of images, including our first look at the robot Zog, voiced by Samuel L. Jackson. That is one huge robot, and definitely doesn’t look nearly “groovy” enough to be voiced by Sam The Man, but we’ll see.
New Trailer and Final One-Sheet Poster for Astro Boy
It seems like we’ve been covering “Astro Boy” forever, so why stop now? The film is due out in theaters October 23, 2009, but until then, here’s a new trailer (butt guns included!) and the final one-sheet poster for the movie.
Full Astro Boy Trailer Features: Machine Guns In His Butt
Those are five English words I never thought I’d string together. But this is Sci-Fi pilgrims and it isn’t always pretty. “Astro Boy” opens Oct 23rd and recounts the tale of a robot created by a grieving scientist to replace his dead son. Astro Boy is considered the first manga series and originated all the way back in 1952 by the god of manga, Osamu Tezuka.
New Batch of Astro Boy Images
New images from “Astro Boy” for your viewing pleasure. The movie will feature two cameo voices by Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron, according to director David Bowers during the “Astro Boy” Comic-Con ’09 panel over the weekend.
Comic-Con ’09: Astroboy and Battlestar Galactica Panels
There were three significant sci-fi themed panels at Comic-Con on Thursday: Astroboy, Battlestar Galactica, and James Cameron’s Avatar. Alas, despite waiting three hours in line for “Avatar”, I only managed to catch the final 5 minutes or so of the panel, just enough to hear Cameron saying that he plans to show the first 15 minutes of “Avatar” for free in Imax theaters. I was not, unfortunately, in time to catch the 25 minutes of footage that Cameron brought with him. Earlier in the day, I did manage to catch the “Astroboy” and BSG panels. Observations from the two below.
Two New Astro Boy Images
Just got in two new images from David Bower’s CG movie “Astro Boy”, based on the popular Japanese character. Still not sure if this thing will piss off more fans than it creates, but the first image, with Astro Boy confronting a giant robot, looks very cool.
New Trailer and Poster for Astro Boy
Here’s the second teaser trailer for the upcoming CGI movie “Astro Boy”, based on the Japanese manga/anime. It actually looks very good, better than I had expected, actually. Then again, I don’t know the series all that well, so I’m just going by what my layman’s eyes tell me. The kids should love this one.
Three More Astro Boy Images
Three new images from the upcoming “Astro Boy” CGI movie. Here’s the press release for the movie: A thrilling tale of a true hero, Astro Boy is an all-new, feature film full of action, adventure, humor and heart. It will be brought to life on the big screen in breathtaking CGI animation on October 23rd, 2009.
Two New Astro Boy Movie Images
Two new images from “Astro Boy” via AICN. The first image is of Astro Boy soaring through Metro City, and the second image is of Astro Boy’s nemesis, the ironically named Peacekeeper, who absorbs other machines and their powers. “Astro Boy” is directed by David Bowers from a script by Timothy Harris. Voice works by Kristen Bell, Bill Nighy, Nicolas Cage,a nd Freddie Highmore as Astro Boy himself.
First Teaser Trailer for the Astroboy CGI Movie
I’ve never actually seen any of the Astroboy cartoons or read the mangas, so I can’t tell you if this English version of the Astroboy character (or what little we see of it in this very short teaser trailer) bears any resemblance to the original character. What I do know is that, well, this is probably very kid-friendly, so anyone over 10 probably won’t have much use for it, unless that is, you grew up with the character, in which case you’ll probably find things to nitpick about it. Then again, my nephew is 7, and this teaser didn’t do a whole lot for him, either. Oh well. Here’s your first look at a moving Astroboy, coming in 2009.
Kristen Bell has a Thing for Astro Boy
From Heroes to Astro Boy? It would seem to, as news from SuperheroHype is that Kristen Bell (you may know her as Elle Bishop on Heroes, or Veronica Mars on the show, well, Veronica Mars) has landed the leading female role in the movie “Astro Boy”. Well, she’ll be landing her voice, anyway, as “Astro Boy” is a CGI animated movie. And not just any movie, either, a pretty big one, if the cast already assembled is any indication. They include Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Bill Nighy, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy and Freddie Highmore as Astro Boy himself. Now that’s a cast!
