Okay, so one highly anticipated movie (Ridley Scott’s not-”Alien”/”Alien” prequel “Prometheus”) and the alien invasion flick “Darkest Hour”. Check them both out below.

Guy Pearce Boards Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

You can now officially add Guy Pearce’s name as the latest castmember to board Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus”, aka the “Alien” prequel that isn’t an “Alien” prequel, although it’s apparently still got lots of “Alien” stuff in it, just don’t call it an “Alien” prequel.

Ridley Scott’s Not-Alien Alien Movie is Still Alien After All? Say What?

Man, this is confusing. When Ridley Scott and Fox sent out that shiny press release telling everyone that their newly christened sci-fi movie “Prometheus” used to be the “Alien” prequel, but was now going in a completely new direction, we sorta, you know, believed them. Maybe we shouldn’t have. Or at least, not entirely.

Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel is Now Prometheus

20th Century Fox has made it official: Ridley Scott’s long-gestating “Alien” prequel has now been rechristened “Prometheus”, and Noomi Rapace has boarded the project as its female lead, a scientist name Elizabeth Shaw.

Sci-Fi Casting: Theron and Rapace for Alien, Headey in Dredd

A couple of casting news that should be of interest to sci-fi fans:

A Quickie Update on Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel

The latest update on Ridley Scott and Fox’s “Alien” prequel comes from Vulture, and goes something like this:

“Lost” guy Damon Lindelof has turned in his draft of the script, and Fox apparently really likes it. Why? Because it can be shot for relatively cheap (re: no expensive action set pieces to chew up the budget), and it can be shot for a PG-13 rating.

Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel May be Hampered by Rating and Budget

Who didn’t jump and clap for joy when they read Ridley Scott promising us a couple of “really tough, really nasty” prequels to his hit film “Alien”? I know I did.

Now as it turns out, Scott’s ambitious project may have stalled because of budget and rating.
