Spending the time and energy to create and release a non Pixar-ish animated movie these days is quite a gamble. Even with Tim Burton producing, a studio and a watching public, careful with their Saturday movie money, has to think, But are there cute bleeping robots? How about talking cars?

A New And Extended Clip From 9
A new, extended clip from the animated post apocalyptic film 9 has been released. In it, the good hand sewn heroes named 1 through 9 are in a desperate battle against the red L.E.D. eyed winged beast. It’s scary and long. 9 is directed by Shane Acker, is produced by Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov and Jim Lemley and stars the vocal talents of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and John C. Reilly. 9 opens in theatres Sept 9th.
EW Previews the Sci-Fi Movies at Comic Con ’09 with New Images
Entertainment Weekly is previewing a number of sci-fi movies (and one TV show, the SyFy Channel’s Stargate: Universe) that will be holding panels and making splashes at this year’s Comic Con, and have included new images from the movies/show in their preview. They include Shane Acker’s “9″, “Pandorum” with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster, and Stargate: Universe. In the article, they quote Universe producer Robert Cooper as saying this about the new show:
