Nix has already reviewed this beast so we’ll go with his judgement as the definitive review. In honor of the franchise, I will do a high speed review in bullet points.

  1. Sam Worthington is a dude to watch. Avatar is going to be sweet Sci-Fi butter with this guy in it. Man has some depth.
  2. Why was Christian Bale in this movie? The original idea of just having John Connor in it for a cameo was way better. He was just a distraction.
  3. The real story was Marcus. That’s all you needed. Waking up in a strange time, learning you were a machine and being horrified of yourself while at the same time trying to redeem yourself for past evil deeds. That’s a dark and lovely mix. Easily could have made the entire movie just about him. Should have.
  4. McG is a good director of action movies.
  5. Christian Bale needs to make a movie where he can smile. If he can.
  6. If Common wants to be in movies, he needs to learn how to act. I’m sick of rappers screwing up my movie watching experience.
  7. Exactly who did Bryce Dallas Howard play anyway? Did we even learn her name? That whole John Connor subplot was horrendous.
  8. The Terminators just weren’t scary enough.
  9. Helena Bonham Carter makes a strange and stupid A.I.
  10. The ending. I mean please. Oh my god. Are you kidding? I blame the idiot who leaked the original ending to the world for sabotaging would might have been some deep Sci-Fi. Making John Connor into a cyborg would have made more sense and would have been hard core FI and honest to the story. See, Marcus was a cyborg and look how cool he was. Heart transplant or heart parts replacement surgery in a desert field camp? Pardon me? Marcus was human really, in all the important ways. Human heart, human brain. I mean, sign me up for the other parts he had. No doctor would kill a healthy person for parts…
  11. A sequel? Is Sam in it? Then maybe.
