Avatar’s Sam Worthington Nabs Terminator Role
- 0 comments
If Aussie Sam Worthington is not trying to make his bones as Hollywood’s go-to guy for sci-fi epics, then he’s doing a heck of a bad job at it. After winning the coveted leading man role in James Cameron’s sure-to-be massive hit “Avatar”, Worthington has now landed the plum role in the upcoming “Terminator” trilogy, starting with the first, “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”, alongside Christian Bale.
More:
The 31-year-old will play Marcus, a survivor of a nuclear holocaust caused by the self-aware computer network system Skynet.
Worthington’s role will reportedly span three films as he becomes a central figure in the human fight against Skynet.
Terminator Salvation director McG was recommended Worthington by James Cameron, the director of the first two franchise instalments.
Here’s my thought about the new Terminator movies — McG just better not fuck it up. And to not fuck it up, he better stop with the kiddie fast-motion, slow-motion crap that he’s been doing with the “Charlie’s Angels” movie. Grow up, McG, and you can start by ditching the stupid nickname and start using your real name.
In any case, while both “Avatar” and “Salvation” is due out in 2009, I’m guessing that since Cameron recommended Worthington to McG, there shouldn’t be any shooting issues between the two sci-fi epics.
