Hey John Carter of Mars — What’s That Behind You???
Haven’t heard a whole lot from “John Carter of Mars” since we got that trailer over five months ago. Haven’t seen a single new image or really heard much of anything about it since. Well, no longer. EW has premiered a new image from the movie, featuring Taylor Kitsch as John Carter battling himself a big ol furry creature — while chained up, no less.
Gale Anne Hurd Exploring Area 51 in a New TV Series
Oh, Area 51, will people ever leave you alone? Probably not.
“The Walking Dead” producer Gale Anne Hurd is heading back to the forbidden Government facility with a new one-hour TV show called, of course, “Area 51″. The show will be based on the book “Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base” by Annie Jacobsen, and “follow two men working on the base who are thrust into danger when they uncover secrets that the government will protect at any cost.”
Teaser Trailer For Fan-Made Short Film Transformers: The Last Energon Crystal
You gotta give it to these would-be filmmakers who like a movie franchise so much they decided to invest their own money to make a short fan film. Hell, I wish I had that kind of gumption, or talent, but honestly, I don’t. Robert Kouba does, and he’s making a “Transformers” short film called “The Last Energon Crystal”, and he’s put together this 90-second teaser trailer to give you a taste of what he has in store. Check it out below.
Trailer and Behind-the-Scenes Look for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
For those not in the know, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is the sequel to 2008′s hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. Brendan Fraser was the star of that one, but he’s taken a flyer on the sequel (stupid move, Brendan), and only Josh Hutcherson returns for the second time around. He’s joined by The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson), and this time the source of adventure is Jules Verne’s “mysterious island”. Here’s the first trailer and a behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming family sci-fi movie.
Three New Images from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus
The master is back at the genre he helped define, so it’s no wonder sci-fi fans are anxious to see what he’s cooked up. Here are three new images from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. Update: Swapped the scans with the official studio releases, plus two new images.
Ender Wiggins Has Been Recruited…
And his name is Asa Butterfield, a British kid who can next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo”.
Word is that Butterfield (you gotta love British last names) has been offered the role if he wants it, and I suspect he’ll want it.
Twilight’s Kristen Stewart in Talks to Play Kei in Akira
If, for some reason, you were still holding out hope that at least one major character in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Akira” will maintain their Japanese roots, you can probably stop holding your breath now, because it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, especially now that Warner Bros. is said to be in talks with “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart (who is probably one of the most pale girl I’ve ever seen in the movies) to join the cast, playing the role of Kei, the film’s psychic medium/rebel.
Harry Potter’s David Yates Bringing You a Standalone Doctor Who Movie
A movie that, incidentally, will have nothing whatsoever to do with the BBC show current or past. Which means it’s a fresh, brand spanking new take on the Doctor, starring an actor who won’t be Matt Smith, or a companion that won’t be played by Karen Gillan. Which means that will likely tick off some hardcore fans of the show, of which there are quite a bit.
First Full Theatrical Trailer for The Hunger Games
Fans of Suzanne Collins’ novels should really like this first full theatrical trailer for Gary Ross’ “The Hunger Games”. First of all, Jennifer Lawrence is just looking so good as Katniss, and from what I can see, the movie seems to be very faithful to the original source novel. Which is a good thing in my book. Take a look at the trailer below.
AMC Gets Thunderstruck With New Sci-Fi Drama
They’ve already made meth fashionable. They’ve even made period shows about admen actually watchable. Now the cable network will be adding UFOs and aliens to their line-up, with AMC buying the sci-fi drama “Thunderstruck” from writers Paul Boardman and Scott Derrickson.
Katniss Will Shoot Yo Ass in New Hunger Games Pic
If you’ve read the Suzanne Collins novels that “The Hunger Games” will be based on, then you already know that heroine Katnis Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence in the Gary Ross-directed trilogy) can be pretty badass when she needs to be. She’s a tough gal who rarely lets her emotions get the best of her, and she’s quite handy with that bow and arrow. Here’s a new pic from the movie showing that Lawrence looks mighty at home shooting that traditional bow.
