An Ode to Smallville’s Brainy Babe Allison Mack

Daily readers of the site will probably already know that I’m not the world’s biggest fan of “Smallville”. Okay, so I think it’s stretching it a bit to go nine, ten seasons with this show. I mean, what the hell, “Firefly” doesn’t last past one year, and “Smallville” is already on year nine? That just ain’t right.

Shia LaBeouf is Not a Fan of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Apparently Megan Fox is not the only actor on “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” that has less than flattering things to say about the film. Despite the fact that it made a gazillion dollars, “Fallen” is considered by many to be a big loud mess. I gotta agree to a point, but I never really expected all that much from it in terms of story, so my disappointment was perhaps tempered a bit.

Gears of War Movie has Grinded to a Halt

Apparently slotting the live-action movie adaptation of the “Gears of War” game as a 2010 release was way too optimistic on our part, because after a lot of fits and starts, the film’s development now seems to have come to a screeching, grinding halt.

Olivia Thirlby Takes the Lead in Timur Bekmambetov’s Darkest Hour

The very quirky and lovely Olivia Thirlby, who has spent most of her relatively young career playing second fiddle in films like “Juno”, “Eve”, and “Breaking Upwards”, will be getting her first major leading role in the Timur Bekmambetov-produced sci-fi invasion movie “Darkest Hour”.

Sylvain White is Interested in Directing Robotech

If, you know, the film actually gets made and the studio offers the directing gig to him, then director Sylvain White may sign on to direct. Maybe.

In any case, here’s what White has to say on the project when the boys at IESB (via SciFiWire) cornered him at WonderCon over the weekend:

Voltron Update: No Script, No Director, Back in Development Hell

The boys at Coming Attractions got the chance to visit World Event Productions, the home office of the “Voltron” movie, and came away with some news about the upcoming film. In short, it’s still in development, but there have been some major changes since last we heard.

First Trailer for Vincenzo Natali’s Splice

Via MSN, here’s you first trailer for Vincenzo Natali’s “Splice”. It’s amazing that it’s taken this long for the trailer to finally show up, as it seems like I’ve been reporting on this movie forever. We even already have a review for it already online here.

Stargate Universe Returns Tonight with Episode 1.11 Space

After a long hiatus, the SyFy Channel’s most talked about new show “Stargate Universe” returns with its mid-season premiere tonight with the episode “Space”, which finds Col. Young, among other things, dealing with the repercussions of, shall we say, bitch slapping Rush around in the last episode.

Alex Pettyfer Will be Number Four for Michael Bay

I’m not number four, he’s number four. Who is number four? Alex Pettyfer is number four. Yup, the pretty boy British actor, who got ugly to play his first American movie “Beastly”, is currently in negotiations to star in the Michael Bay-produced sci-fi actioner “I am Number Four”.

Paul Greengrass to Team with Producer James Cameron on Fantastic Voyage

Quick, Paul Greengrass needs a hit! After throwing a big pile of stink on the box office with his $100 million dollar flop “Jason Bourne in Iraq” movie “Green Zone”, director Paul Greengrass needs a hit, and the very commercial (and perhaps even shaky-cam proof) remake of “Fantastic Voyage” is just what the doctor ordered.

Will Smith Back for Independence Day Sequels?

And not just one measly sequel, too, but two. Or at least that’s the word from IESB, who says the deal is all but done for Smith to come back to one of the first movies that made him a bankable star, presumably as fighter jock Captain Steven Hiller, the character he played in the first one.

Preview: V 1.05 Welcome to the War

After what seems like forever, “V” finally returns with its fifth episode, “Welcome to the War”. Check out a full preview for tonight’s new “V” below, including preview, sneak peeks, and synopsis.

ERICA SUDDENLY HAS TO BATTLE FOR HER LIFE, ANNA IS UPSET WITH CHAD AND RYAN IS CONCERNED ABOUT VAL’S PREGNANCY, AS THE RESISTANCE CONTINUES TO GROW ON THE RETURN OF ABC’S “V”

Foreboding Signs for FlashForward — Castmembers Getting New Jobs

When your castmembers start auditioning for new shows, it’s a pretty bad sign that your show might be, uh, on the fence when it comes to renewal. Such is the case for ABC’s quickly plummeting “FlashForward”, which has seen three (three!) castmembers getting new gigs lately while the show is still in its first season and hoping for a second.

You’ll Never Work in This Town Again! Battlefield Earth Writer Apologizes for Movie

Talk about sticking a fork in your career! Or perhaps not, since according to IMDB.com, writer J.D. Shapiro hasn’t had much of a career since being known as “one of the two guys who wrote ‘Battlefield Earth’” (along with Corey Mandell, whose own screenwriting career never progressed pass “Earth”).

Cargo (2009) Movie Review

WHAT IS IT: “Cargo”, a moody, ambitious sci-fi thriller from Switzerland, directed by Ivan Engler and Ralph Etter, and co-written by Engler, Arnold Bucher, Johnny Hartmann, and Thilo Roscheisen. Made for an estimated $4.5 Swiss Francs (about $4.2 million dollars), the film recently made its North American debut at the SXSW Festival.
