The Sci Fi Channel is getting into the comic book business. They’ve partnered up with Virgin Comics to launch a 5-issue limited series called “The Stranded”, which has a pretty nifty premise. The idea is to develop the property first as a comic book, and if it works, then launch it into movies or, more likely, a TV series.

The Sci Fi Channel has acquired exclusive cable re-rerun rights for CBS’s post-apocalyptic TV series Jericho, which is scheduled to return for its second season on February 12th, 2008, which is no easy feat, considering the show was actually cancelled once by CBS, but was saved by a fan campaign involving…peanuts.

It was recently revealed by writer/director Chris Carter that the upcoming “X-Files” movie sequel will be a standalone story, and will not delve into the alien mythology that has been so much a part of the show’s run. So what could the central storyline be in “X-Files 2″ if it’s not aliens? Um, maybe the wolfman?

Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with unknown actor Mister Chris Pine, who will be blowing up pretty soon once J.J. Abrams’ Trek 11 arrives on the big screen. Pine is at Sundance to talk about some movie no one will see (it’s a Sundance movie, come on), but managed some Trek questions, too.

Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long before Paramount released better quality versions of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 11 reboot teaser trailer out into the Internet. A number of sites are hosting them now, including Yahoo! Movies. It’s still the same teaser trailer, though, showing the Enterprise under construction.

Okay, so it’s taken me three years to finally sit down and watch Joss Whedon’s big-screen sci-fi actioner “Serenity”. In my defense, let me just say that while I enjoyed the uncut pilot for Firefly, the TV series precursor to “Serenity”, that I saw a few years back, I did not fall in love with it. Then again, I only watched the pilot after the show had been cancelled by FOX, so in that respect, I suppose I didn’t exactly have any incentives to become attached to the show.

Before there was Seven of Nine, there was Colonel Wilma Deering. What would Buck Rogers in the 25th Century be like without Erin Gray and her super tight flight suit? Not much, that’s for sure. You can only stand a certain amount of action scenes of Buck Rogers karate chopping aliens before you get bored. That’s where Wilma Deering and her ace flying came in.

Speaking of J.J. Abrams (no, this isn’t a J.J. Abrams site, it just so happens that the guy is involved in a lot of sci-fi work nowadays), his other big high-profile project is the FOX sci-fi show Fringe, which has added Kirk Acevedo and Tomas Arana to a cast that already includes Mark Valley.

With “Cloverfield” set to open tomorrow, and along with it, your first look at the Star Trek 11 teaser trailer, Moviefone has jumped the gun and given us our first look at J.J. Abrams’ version of the U.S.S. Enterprise (thumbnail to your left, bigger version below).

Hey look, kids, it’s Mulder and Scully — from “X-Files 2″! Yes, that’s right, the FBI paranormal busting duo are back together again in the upcoming “X-Files” sequel, and USA Today has new pictures of David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson together again. Plus, writer/director Chris Carter talks about dumping the alien mythology and going for a standalone movie.
