Aussie Anna Torv, 2 Others Join Abrams Fringe
Fringe TV Series, Sci-Fi TV News — By Nix on January 31, 2008
J.J. Abrams has a habit of making stars out of unknown actresses: Jennifer Garner in Alias, Evangeline Lilly in Lost, Keri Russell in Felicity, and now … Anna Torv in Fringe? Maybe, since the Australian actress has been tapped by Abrams to play the female lead in his upcoming FOX sci-fi show Fringe. Also joining Torv on Fringe are Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole.
More:
The two-hour pilot, being directed by Alex Graves, centers on Olivia Warren (Torv), a young, tough FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of a coming storm.
On the Warner Bros. TV/Bad Robot drama, Brown will play the brilliant Nina Cord, a 16-year veteran at Prometheus Corp., a cutting-edge research facility. Nicole will play the recurring role of Astrid, a stunning federal assistant.
Anna Torv may be an unknown in the U.S., but in Australia she’s an old TV veteran, with stints on the series “The Secret Life of Us”, “McLeod’s Daughters”, and “Young Lions.”
