Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Predator Reboot/Sequel?

Yes, if Robert Rodriguez has his way. According to various sources on the Interwebs, the director of the new “Predator” movie, which we’re told is more a direct sequel to John McTiernan’s original than one of those oh so trendy reboots, has reached out to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s camp to get the Governator to return in one form or another to his sequel.
Reports Moviehole:
“They’ve written a role for him” a second source later told us via email. ‘’Rodriguez is as against the idea of a straight-up remake as much as anyone – which is why they’re considering this an official sequel to John McTiernan’s film. Like Terminator, they know Schwarzenegger’s a vital ingredient of the franchise. Ideally, Arnold will see it that way too. Ball is in his court now”.
Having Dutch back, even in a cameo (and at this point, it would have to be a cameo, wouldn’t it?) would just be gravy. Also, the idea of making a sequel instead of a remake makes me smile. I think Rodriguez could do well with this. The guy has a knack for crazy action. I just hope he doesn’t make it silly and illogical, as he’s sometimes wont to do. For all of its alien and “out of this world” plot, the original “Predator” was pretty gritty stuff.
Below: “Oops. Sorry, boys. They don’t call me ‘Silent but Deadly Dutch’ for no reason, you know.”
